I hope there are more Bernie's in the future when humans have evolved enough to welcome and appreciate.

Evolution requires competition, struggle, and innovation.

Bernie's policies endorse the opposite.

The stupid, it berns.

I believe I mentioned animal survival of the fittest.

Believe me, I want to be there. Flower Child, such a magical time.

We missed that window? Why?

Today the entire world is in chaos. The timing isn't there.

I was a Flower Child.

Where have all the Flower Children gone.

The momentum and support was there years ago, it didn't happen? Why?

As the son of a flower child mother (and a much more conservative beatnik father, for what it's worth,) and one who still believes (basically) in those ideals - sometimes with great pain, as it's certainly not a popular sentiment or point of view - I share your wonder and lament. Love, and understanding simply aren't "cool" anymore. Which breaks my heart, frankly.

Even the pop culture heroes of the flower power movement seemingly abandoned it.

"The dream is over. What can I say? I was the Walrus. But now, I'm John. And so dear friends, you'll just have to carry on. The dream is over."

I'm sure that was heartbreaking at the time, and it is to me today equally.

Peace. (I still say it and mean it. Dammit.)

I know. It's very sad. We had it, but didn't hold on to it. I ask again, why?

Today the entire world is in chaos. You're not gonna walk up to ISIS, hand them a flower, and say I Love You.

IMO, some serious and tough stuff needs to happen globally before we can even think of being in that "energy" again.

America, in modern times, is not used to warring on our own land. As the song goes, "Over there . . . ".

Gonna stick this in here just because . I love this real life story: The Happiest People on Earth: fameiva.com...

Now that is interesting.

I wonder if they still experience something akin to nostalgia, or if they're so "in the now" that doesn't even register for them. In many ways, at least in principle, I envy them. Although, I feel a happy medium wherein history is archived and learned from, but does not dominate, might be more ideal (for me at least.)

Peace.

Sanders is a communist. He will rob everyone. He represents the lazy, the entitled and worst of all the far left liberals who are destroying not just America but the world. Sanders would be bottom of my list - sorry. I would rather have Hillary and that is saying something.

You have the internet.
Use it.
Sanders isn't a Communist.
You either don't know what you're talking about, or you're lying on purpose.
Neither of those are very good things.

And if we're going to talk about people destroying the world, we might want to talk about the ones doing it literally. Hum de hum, oil companies, warhawks, far-right climate change deniers.

This was the agenda of the Young People's Socialist League that Sanders joined:

“The Young People’s Socialist League of America calls upon all young people who are interested in the emancipation of the working class from the chains of wage slavery to join its rank and through it and its associated organizations of the International Socialist Movement, to work for the overthrow of the present capitalist system in all its social and economic ramifications, and for the establishment in its stead of a worldwide socialistic cooperative commonwealth.”

Label it what you like, it's describing communism.

I agree with you on most of the other points, but I would add in the far left climate change exaggerators into the pot.

Some people are convinced that 'socialist' means that Sanders wants to disarm the populace and send them to death camps if they don't give all their money to the government.

Well, those people are wrong and/or spreading disinfo.

How are you helping to dispell those myths?
He also has no intention of putting all means of production into the hands of the government. No intention of preventing people from buying private insurance, or taking away their land, or making everyone have "equal" housing, clothing, food, cars, and money.

Saying that he is it going to do that is at least ridiculous, and at worst, IGNORANT. People spreading IGNORANCE.

You are wrong. The Young People's Socialist League promotes Democratic Socialism. They believe that you cannot successfully separate socialism from democracy. Since when has Communism ever promoted democracy?

As socialists, our goal is a radically democratic world, a world where decisions are made by those affected by them, a world where society cherishes the individual and the individual has both the reason and will to work for society. We believe that everyone should have a say in determining how our political, social, and economic structures are run, and we believe that the institutions of those structures must be directly accountable to the people who sustain them. Such a goal requires a fundamental change in our values and priorities as a society, and nowhere is the possibility for change so great as among youth.

You can't exaggerate something that is tearing apart our planet at the seams. Yes, maybe you don't care about it, perhaps you're old and won't have to deal with it or have shares in a company that will lose out a bit in case of actual effort being put into working against climate change.
But I'm only eighteen.
I am going to see the ramifications of what YOU have done, I am going to have to deal with a problem that you (speaking collectively against people who refuse to accept the gravity of the situation) decided was "exaggerated", "too expensive", or "too much effort."

Working towards non-oil energy sources is something we should be working on as hard as we possibly can anyway. At least, if you want the US to stop being owned by Saudi Arabia any time soon.

Climate change is real. Climate change is coming. And if you deny that, or think it's being exaggerated, and if you refuse to work against it as hard as you possibly can, then you are going to have the deaths of millions, perhaps even the entire species, on your hands.

Climate been changing way before humans and even more drastically in the past. And guess what? life still persist. it hasnt been frozen to death. it hasnt drowned. it hasnt roasted. The science has been debunked and that 97 percent is actually closer to 37 percent of climate scientist who OF that 37 percent 97 percent agree on global warming. See hwo the fuzzy math works?
