The general definition of a mass shooting is derived the FBI's definition:

FOUR or more shot and/or killed in a single event [incident], at the same general time and location, not including the shooter.

There's a list of them here.

Mass shootings are far outweighed by general gun violence/killing overall which are also smaller than suicide by gun deaths.

Looks the like existing gun laws were enough to find the person that supplied the weapons to this gunman.
Woman charged with providing firearms to Kansas plant gunman

A 28-year-old woman was charged Friday with providing the firearms a gunman used to kill three people and wound several others in a shooting rampage in Kansas.

Sarah Hopkins, of Newton, Kan., was accused in federal court of knowingly transferring a firearm to a convicted felon, according to Fox4KC.

A criminal complaint says Hopkins gave two weapons to Cedric Ford who was shot dead by a Hesston Police Chief Doug Schroeder during Thursday shootings at Excel Industries in Hesston, the station reported.

The weapons were a Zastava Serbia, an AK-47-type semi-automatic rifle and a Glock Model 22 40 caliber handgun.

Odd that the law against supplying a gun to a felon did not stop her either. And how did this person know the gunman?

The woman is the mother of Ford’s 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son, the Wichita Eagle reported Friday.

Sounds to me like this "family" was a disaster waiting to happen.

Had this occurred in an inner city 'hood, instead of the middle of Kansas, there would not be the press we are seeing, and therefore, no outrage from those here exclaiming this never happened in the past. Media coverage is intended to instill fear, and force people to react emotionally. And the goal of that reaction is more gun control over the lawful citizenry of this country.

Well almost all of the killings were other criminals....so a s long as he held to criminals dying didnt have a issue with him.

The UK and France are obvious reasons why, also Australia, not sure about Oman. Thailand, may be another matter, ie depends on were you go and what season, I had heard from people who lived in Thailand and been there that its better to not be caught in certain areas at certain times...Basically stay in the tourist designated areas.

But here is a list, and actually considering the populations and number of guns per capita, the US is actually pretty average gun deaths per guns and mass populations. For instance by those same numbers and percentages it may be lower then plenty other gun free countries. But again it all just depends.

The higher gun deaths are all countries we would expect, mostly south Americas. ie you know such as Honduras, Brazil, Venezuela, in those countries the homicide rate ie deaths intentionally by gun are high, while in the US which has a 10. 54...3.43 is homicide 6.69 is suicide 0.8 is unintentional and 0.8 undetermined. While in Honduras out of 67.18....66.64 is homicide and the rest for Suicides and unintentional are in the fractions 0.41.

But off course that takes only certain aspects, and eludes other causes of death by gun oh like lets say such as war zones, if that were included then the middle east would have a pretty high count by now, and also yes also Europe at certain areas and in certain times in history.

However if you think that being defenseless and taking guns away will the problem. Well then you would be a fool. And have little real clue about some of the things which can and do happen in this world.

Basically guns dont kill people. People kill peoples, guns are just a tool. And if you think that the more now peaceful countries in Europe are somehow safe. Well they are not safe, they are merely under a lot less stress and less worse situations then other countries are. History has shown that if and when that changes, the same can be expected to happen as any other nation and peoples or countries.

And its just so dam easy to smuggle guns to any nation anywhere at pretty much any time, having laws against them means absolutely nothing when the winds change, and sure as hell means nothing to criminals it seems, no what those country have is a lot less criminal situations then lets say like the drug riddled favelas in Brazil and such, but then again even the drug problem or unemployment or pretty much everything else is not as high in places like Brazil and Hondurans, so for now its comparing apples to oranges.

So who knows maybe if you introduce all the elements of into those countries as in ie the UK and France as places like Brazil or others have. The numbers I am quite sure would change....And change fast.

But If you want to see what it looks like when # goes sour, maybe you should type this in your favorite search engine. "man gets shot in Brazil by drug dealers" Just remember those guns didn't fire themselves off, somebody had to pull the trigger, quite a lot it seems, over 50 times I do believe if memory serves me right.
