I'm only posting the following tongue-in-cheek for all you Bush-haters that think anyone that doesn't believe the same way you do is a nazi or worse.

Sedition Act

Read the text of this existing law from 1918 (note: Bush wasn't even born yet and there were no such things as nazis). If this law was currently enforced, the lot of you would all be in one of those camps we keep reading about on ATS. Which kind of proves that things aren't happening the way you're all sooooo afraid of.

Unfortunately, it probably can't be used since Congress has not declared war. The War on Terror and Iraq (if you consider it separately) are police actions, not declared war.

Hitler was a grunt soldier in World War I at that time, I doubt anyone in the U.S. even knew he existed. The anti-Bush rhetoric here is nauseating.

The Sedition Act is unconstitutional, as it's in violation of the First Amendment.

Then again, Bush and his bunch don't give a rat's behind about the Constitution anyway....

Prescot Bush was just an industrialist no?

and the nazi's did exist at that time.

I don't think that even the NDAP was around back then, and certainly not the nazis proper.

Great post Centurion!

Woodrow Wilson was indeed a "dictator" in the current sense of the word. As were roughly half a dozen other Presidents. But it's better to think in terms of the now (and take partisan sides in spite of the fact both parties have had "dictators") - even though history does tend to repeat itself.

Eugene Debs, a prominent Socialist rabble-rouser and Presidential candidate was charged and thrown in jail because of this law, or more accurately the Espionage Act, during WWI. Eugene Debs recieved nearly one million votes (US Population: 108 million) - as a prisoner of the state - in the 1920 election. He believed that WWI was a result of the "competitive imperialist system". That's World War One. A man far ahead of his time. I don't follow his beliefs exactly, but I digress.

Essentially, George Bush would have to combine Michael Moore and Ralph Nader into one person and throw that ugly mess of a being into jail during an election to achieve the feat that Good Ol' Mr. Wilson did.

Do you have a link to the Congressional Declaration of War? An act giving the President the authority to use military power and/or funding it is not the same thing.

Only slightly more nausiating is the lack of knowlege on the part of Bush supporters. You need a good treatise on the financial ties of Prescott bush or the Walker family? The US industrial machine was closely tied to the facist movement in germany, ole Prescott was actually charged under the trading with the enemy act and his businesses were siezed during WWII. Bush bashing? LOL. No need to bash those turds, history, if you actually bother to read it, does that well enough. So far, Walker, Prescott, Bush Sr. and Bush jr. have all been caught trading with the enemy. While we declared a war on drugs, Bush Sr. was hanging out with Barry Seal, Bush Jr. was tied so closely to the Bin Laden family that we turned down Afghanistans offer to extradite Osama Bin Laden before the invasion, and were nice enough to charter his family out of the country after the 9-11 attacks. I don't even want to get started on those turds, but bashing Bush would be making fun of him when he peed his pants at the sight of an approaching plane, making known their family ties to enemies of this country is hardly bashing, it's more like setting the record straight.

From Wikipedia (emphasis mine):

Harriman Bank was the main Wall Street connection for German companies and the varied U.S. financial interests of Fritz Thyssen, who had been an early financial backer of the Nazi party until 1938, but who by 1939 had fled Germany and was bitterly denouncing Hitler. Dealing with Nazi Germany wasn't illegal until Hitler declared war on the US, but, six days after Pearl Harbor, President Roosevelt signed the Trading With the Enemy Act. On October 20, 1942, the U.S. government ordered the seizure of Nazi German banking operations in New York City.

Prescott Bush's business interests seized under the act in October and November 1942 included:
Union Banking Corporation (UBC) (for Thyssen and Brown Brothers Harriman)
Holland-American Trading Corporation (with Harriman)
the Seamless Steel Equipment Corporation (with Harriman)
Silesian-American Corporation (with Walker)

Bush's interest in UBC consisted of one share. For it, he was reimbursed $1,500,000. These assets were later used to launch Bush family investments in the Texas energy industry.
...
There are unsubstantiated rumors concerning Prescott Bush's associations with the Nazi party. The Anti-Defamation League has stated, "Rumors about the alleged Nazi 'ties' of the late Prescott Bush, the grandfather of President George W. Bush, have circulated widely through the Internet in recent years. These charges are untenable and politically motivated." [1] The rumors began with extreme right-wing attacks on George H.W. Bush during his 1980 presidential run and were renewed during his 1988 run.

The New York Herald-Tribune never referred to Prescott Bush as "Hitler's Financial Angel". The Tribune referred to the German industrialist, Fritz Thyssen, as "Hitler's Angel" and mentioned Bush only as an employee of the investment banking firm Thyssen used in the USA. The label was ironic, since by the time the Tribune article appeared, Hitler had turned on Thyssen and imprisoned him. There has been a determined effort by Canadian bloggers, apparently connected with Lyndon LaRouche, to circulate reports that Bush himself was known as "Hitler's Angel".

He was never arrested. Why do you engange in recycling old refuted lies?

Ah yeah your right man, nothing to see there. The Bush Family would never sink so low as that would they? Just good ole boys from texas. Well, I'm going to start a new thread, just for you bubba to hopefully teach you a few things about your hero and his family ties. The Bush family history is darker than your nightmares. Call me seditious if you like, but don't call me late for history class. I should have the new thread up tommorow, though it is likely it will get crammed into politics@ats, I'll u2u and let you know when class starts.

Which is why Bush and Dr. Rice got dressed in their super outfits and jumped into their time machine setting precident for when they enact a Sedition act in our times! Bush is gonna get us, he controls TIME now!

George Bush knew. He's immortal and pure evil and evil can sense evil. Bush knew there was something up with this Adolf fellah, so he took him under his wing and taught him a lot. Then Bush came to America after stealing Aquaman's sub (Aquaman was in the hospital because he forgot he could tell a sea urchen to get lost and it poked him -- it's infected now, we're not expecting him to make it) and enacted the Sedition act. You see, Bush is everywhere! Everything evil is Bush's fault! YOU'RE NOT SAFE ANYWHERE! (Hang on, lemme see if there are any other good comments...)

See? More evidence that Bush was there, and that he sired his mother! What a gross and horribly evil creature! He must be a Nazi. But not the Jew hating Nazis. Those Nazis are good, they keep the NWO from taking over. And that lousey Jew run media. Gosh it's fun hating a minority for the same reasons the Nazis did (apparently the latest conspiracies state they're (the Jews) are taking over the world? Too much money, I guess.) in the same paragraph where I condemn the Nazis. Ain't America great?

Now, reading to the end of this thread, I'm glad to see we've gotten back to the point of the thread: bash Bush. Obviously he is the worst thing to ever happen to this planet. He is evil evil evil, and will be the most evil thing to walk the planet unless all Americans stay stupid and we elect another evil...er republican president in 2008. Then that guy (gal) will be the most evil thing on the planet. Er, wait, by saying the people are idiots I'm giving some legitimacy to the vote. What I meant to say was if Diebold steals the election in 2008. There's no way ANYONE could think differently than I do, so if Kerry didn't get every single vote in my nation, obviously Evil Bush tampered with the vote.

Doesn't say a danged thing about claiming bush is an idiot, or pointing out his MANY mistakes, or questioning his loyalty, his ties, or his previous actions, now does it?

hmm....wonder how many of these things I could claim Bush and his crones....(as well as every other administration that has been in the white house for the past few decades) were guilty of and be able to find at least enough "evidence" to make people wonder......
False reports, or statements? hmmmm....maybe I am wrong, but that commission that investigated the events leading up to the war with Iraq and those missing wmd's seemed to leave the impression that SOMEONE was filing bogus info!!

"or incite insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny, or refusal of duty, in the military or naval forces "

just two words......prison abuse!! did wonders to add fire to the islamic fundies recruiting efforts (that's if they aren't just your typical Iraqi trying to defend his family....and well, combine the crap like this with the lack of the necessary equipment and the overdeployment of troops, well, wonder why they are beginning to have problems with their recruiting....

lack of production.....DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH!!! When the government gets off thier butts, quits catering to the business sectors, and quits taxing the heck out of us in every which way possible so they and their buddies can have lavish lifestyles and the "poor" can have services and commodoties that many of the working class cant (like healthcare), well, maybe then the cost of the medical care will go back down to something affordable.....until then....sorry, I am not gonna be productive!!!

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sixty-four dollars for a gallon of coffee?

That is how much the Transportation Security Administration paid a Washington hotel to host a November 2003 awards banquet, contributing to a price tag for the party of nearly a half-million dollars, according to the Department of Homeland Security's independent investigator."

www.cnn.com...

A half a million dollar pat on the back "for a job well done" while our troops scrouge around for scrap metal to armor their vehicles and we are the traitors??

What is funny is how many seem to focus on the "Bush Family", and miss the much larger picture. Do you think it is just them? What's the difference between Bush and Clinton? Bush married a woman with class and dignity. Other than that, nothing. Clinton birthed the Patriot Act, Bush put it into use. Clinton was the liberal president who did nothing for his base, Bush is the conservative president who did nothing for his base. Remember the OK City bombing? For the first time in years, that incident came back to mind, and guess what? There are many, many unanswered question about that scene, gaping holes in the "story" that were never bothered with. Now we have another situation, one that might or might not be fabricated by the NWO, but either way, it is being used to close the net around us. Meanwhile, you guys are hung up on one stupid family because of your blind hatred.

What's going on now has not a damned thing to do with Nazism, folks, take that stupid record off the player and break it so you can't sing along to it again.

Do you have a link to the Congressional Declaration of War?

I don't understand, you are saying that the congressional authorization for the war on terror is not sufficient for a declaration of war?

twitchy
ole Prescott was actually charged under the trading with the enemy act and his businesses were siezed during WWII

A company he had stock in was trading with the enemy tho, not under his direction.

Amethyst, what is this I here, another voice in the wilderness?

I'm not actually alone out here in a sea of blind sports fans? "I wear red!" Well I wear blue, and we're gonna win the next November Super Bowl!"

A friend loaned me a disc with a show called Road to Tyranny by some guy named Alex Jones. He says it'll jog my memory about the specifics of the OKC bombing; its been nagging me the past couple days or so.
I'm gonna watch that and get back either this everning or tomorrow morning after work. I'm sure, no, absolutely positive, that there are some huge gaps in that scene that haven't been closed. He says there are some news clips that will be familiar; we'll see.
Good night.
