The word "feminism" has become synonymous with "equality". Because of this, when somebody challenges the feminist ideology they are accused by so-called progressives of being against equal rights. Shame on them! In the 21st Century, feminism has nothing to do with equality in the slightest. Instead it demands privileges and special treatment. This includes demands for women to always be believed regarding accusations of rape, and exclusively female scholarships and bursaries. The latter has already been met.
Universities (in Canada especially) are suffering as a result. They have become shameful mockeries of what the university should stand for - free speech, open-mindedness and debate are in the process of being stamped out when it comes to the problem of feminism.

The reason I joined ATS in the first place was because of its motto, "deny ignorance". For me, no two words have ever resounded with such personal meaning. For I despise ignorance in all of its forms. I am saddened to see my fellow human beings blinded by it, wandering aimlessly in the metaphorical darkness. It's my enemy. It's a shape-shifter, taking on many forms. And if it comes in the form of feminism, so be it. I will not hesitate to denounce it as I would any other type of ignorance.

This video is the first in a series by Professor Janice Fiamengo, a self-proclaimed "anti-feminist". She puts her arguments forward eloquently and backs them up even more so:

youtu.be...

I strongly recommend that you watch them all. It's definitely worth your time.

People hijacked feminism, and your fine with accepting the new wave and using the feminist label to denounce what is a great cause...

Telling.

Sorry, don't do youtube videos with subjects like this. Can you give a synopsis of her argument? Is it her that convinced you? What are your personal reasons for thinking feminism is a disease?

I think Feminism has achieved a great deal in terms of law, women's rights to education, to health, opportunities of employment, equal wages, protection from rape and abuse and the list goes on.

The old way of stay at home wifey trembling at the thought of her husband's drunken temper when he comes home are over. The days where she has to ask him for the food money and he gives her what he can afford are done. The days of the police and the courts dismissing her rape are over. Feminism has achieved this. Women did this against all the odds of the (once) physically stronger sex.

It is over OP. There ain't no going back. The laws have been changed. It has been indeed a SEXUAL REVOLUTION. In all society this has taken place.

I'm glad. It will have a profound change on the male gender, too. It will force behaviour changes on men and they will lose their power OVER women. It has done it already. I expect now there will be constant change through the generations with neither gender staying stagnant in conformity to stereotypes that men designed to suit their own interests and keep women very much in 2nd place and under the thumb sexually.

You are right to be concerned if you are a traditionalist who wants the world to be like the days of patriarchy and cave men. The tide has moved against your values. I don't want women to be fembots with me holding the control pad. That is no way to conduct our lives together.

Life now will be half what women say it is, in all ways. That is the good, bad and ugly just like men have always done. There will be much more gender dynamism. I reckon it will make life a lot more interesting. Who wants to share their lives with a slave?

Funny, in your post you fail to mention what these special rights and privileges are that the dirty feminists are demanding.

There are still those in the feminism movement who are LEGIT and who have legit concerns about their rights.

Look at the gender gap in wage disparity for example - I think that's a worthy and honorable cause to fight for.

I see that it's the "politically correct" crap stirring up droves of idiots, being the real problem you seem to be talking about.

I stopped watching when she complained about "special privileges" and flashed a picture of an ad for "free self defence class for women" Seriously, OP, your going to get your panties in a bunch over free self defense classes? I'm a woman and I never got the memo that rape and other sexual assault is now a thing of the past! Nice, now I can stop worrying and watching over my shoulder when I walk home from work in the dark!

But seriously, when the world is free of sexual assault then free self defense classes (for women only) would indeed be unfair.

Oh and perhaps re-read Revolution9's post over again, and again and again til you get it. Have a nice day.

i found it interesting that most poor classes of men could not vote either and the false history of the voting rights women have declared.
but that is episode 3 ,of which judging by the comments they have not even watched but are giving their opinions without checking the subject material op,which is biased by the way ,sort of proves her point .

The problem of feminism is it posits that a single mother who has 3 kids and is working 2 jobs, is struggling each month to pay the bills, is stressed and depressed, has anything in common with a woman who lives in a palace with 4 bathrooms, who has 3 luxury cars, millions is her bank account etc.. If you ask them what their day to day problems and demands are, they won't say the same things. Women don't form a social class just because they are women. The first woman who is struggling has more in common with her direct neighbour who is a man and who is also economically and socially struggling.

Feminism has been hijacked by capitalism to hide the real issues, it's a smokescreen, just like islam is today. There was a time not long ago where only the man was working and it was enough to provide for the whole family. Now the woman and the man are both working and they're still struggling.

"Feminism has fought no wars.
It has killed no opponents.
It has set up no concentration camps, starved no enemies, practised no cruelties.
Its battles have been for education, for the vote, for better working conditions, for safety on the streets, for children, for social welfare, for rape crisis centres, women's refuges, reforms in the law.

If someone says 'Oh, I'm not a feminist', I ask 'Why? What's your problem?'

failure to watch the video's proves your biased to be objective and intelligent, both sides of a argument must be listened to and then debated ,anything else is failure on your side to conduct intelligent debate.

I didn't waste my time with the video either.

The woman in question cannot be debated so your argument is illogical.

We can debate what the OP said.

And as I said, it's telling.

It is extremely important to study the different "waves" of feminism.

After third-wave feminist logic had been established, post-third-wave (radical) feminists felt it was too inclusive. They did not want third-wave feminism because many post-wave feminists (mostly western culture white women) didn't want to be inclusive of women who didn't understand their specific experience of being a "woman" (like women of other cultures, classes, age, trans status, or even sexuality, often excluding heterosexual women).

This is where feminism is at now, with various philosophies vying for legitimacy. Which is why it seems there is so much variance in it.

This shows the frustration of third-wave feminism towards post-third-wave ("radical") feminism.

So when you are talking about "feminism" as a whole, it could really mean just about anything. In short, don't judge a person who says they are a feminist without really getting to know what they believe.

charlie it is indeed very telling ,for instance episode 3 will give you a insight to the voting rights and all is not as it seems ,
but we can debate with one another so it is not illogical, illogical is refusing to even consider the op's source material
but i expected more than this from you charlie as you often find one sided arguments against your self .
anyway i can see there will be no intelligent conversion arriving on this subject .

and by refusing to even address her videos you have proved her point by the way

Where does your reasoning for the different waves come from? I can find the different waves but not what causes the shifts, well at least not what you lay out.

You'll notice I didn't even address, let alone critique the validity of the video(s)...

That's is paragraph 3 of the OP...

Paragraph 1&2 were the words and thoughts of the OP alone and that is what I was debating, Stu.

Don't expect better from me my friend, I am only human.

Yes, I totally agree. That is why I respect feminism.

I think it is important that we all realise there is a dark side. I knew this many years ago when I was introduced to Euripedes "Medea" Greek Play. I was reading an article today over at The Guardian, written by a female journalist discussing quite openly the porn star very much chosen by women "James Deen" and his recent public demise. At first, I was shocked that these wealthy power women had tastes for this kind of porn just like some men do. Then I realised it is all part of equality. On my own part I must accept the good, the bad and the ugly of female behaviour as I do with men. It is the same with race. People are always blaming other races, calling them criminals and linking it to race. Yes, when one race is treated badly and made to live in a ghetto with no opportunities of course it will cause a lot of crime and undesirable behaviour. That is only logical. Equality even means respect when the law is broken. It can not be a factor on which to discriminate in ANY circumstance.

Freedom is about allowance and acceptance I think. Personally, I don't do that kind of pornography, but I have to accept that some women really like it and I should not be blaming women as a whole. I mean, I am not blaming anybody. Choice is choice.

I guess guys have lost their Barbie doll and the control pad has been handed back the ladies to make their own moves and decisions. That's great. So much untapped imagination can come from that given the time to grow.

Ultimately, men will be much more psychologically healthy, too. I hope we can make it work as humanity.

What you are describing is an example and not a standard.

Yes women have been beaten and typecast as the housewife throughout the ages, but should good men be treated with disdain and fear just because they are men? My father (R.I.P) taught me to never raise a hand against a woman and now I can't open a door for a woman without getting a suspicious look.

Apparently being a gentleman is creepy in this day in age. I'm sick to death of bra burners venting their anger upon the entirety of the male population. Sure their are some stools out there but not all of us are stools. If I called every woman 'loose' then there will be hell to pay so treat every man on their merits.

Nothing to do with that in my case. I just want the OP not to be so lazy. All they are doing is promoting a video with NO commentary of their own and not even a fair synopsis. That is dishonouring one's audience.

Anyone can say watch a video and believe it. Thank goodness, there are discerning minds.
