Israel-Vladimir Putin

Follow up on Russia Turkey Syria issues:

"Russian President Vladimir Putin has ratcheted up the rhetoric in what appears to be one step closer to the potential for direct conflict with The West. While not detailing 'who' he was focued on, amid the obvious Turkey-Russia tensions, Putin told a session of the Defense Ministry's collegium that "I order to act extremely tough. Any targets that threaten Russian forces or our infrastructure on the ground should be immediately destroyed."

During the meeting of the most senior defense officials, ITAR TASS reports that Putin also warned against "those who will again try to organize any provocations against our servicemen."

"We have already taken additional measures to ensure security of Russian servicemen and air base. It was strengthened by new aviation groups and missile defense systems. Strike aircraft will now carry out operations under cover of fighter jets," Putin said that the Russian military have caused a substantial damage to terrorists in Syria, adding that the actions of the Russian Armed Forces are worthy of praise.

"The combined operation of the Aerospace Defence Forces and the Navy, the use of newest high precision weapons systems has caused a serious damage to the terrorist infrastructure, thus qualitatively changing the situation in Syria," the president said. The president also ordered the defense ministry to coordinate actions in Syria with Israel’s command post and the US-led international coalition.

"It’s important to develop cooperation with all countries really interested in destroying terrorists. I am talking about contacts on ensuring flight safety with the command post of Israel’s air force and forces of the US-led coalition," Putin said."

Yeah judging from his maps the article is probably garbage. Two points right now there is only one Russian air base in syria the other on his map is currently owned by isis. The second is his supply routes far easier and cheaper to ship from the north sea and enter through the straights of gibralter. This over land route would be far more expensive and only save a couple of day. With Russia having problems financially I think they would go the cheaper route.

I am pretty sure the Russian like any military force all ready have orders to destroy an enemy if attacked by them. What is new is that the Russian are now flying air support for the Free Syrian Army. Poor Assad he has to suspect the Russians are about to sell him out for some arms deal with new Syrian coalition government.

I do not think that was Russian's original intent. I think Putin though the Russians could jump in and Assad's forces would make some big advances and the Russians could leave after a few months. Unfortunately the Russian's over estimated what and air campaign could do and were not aware of how little support Assad has meaning his forces are very weak. Now the Russians need out, they can not maintain this operation long term and the best bet is to give up Assad and get some deals with whomever takes overs. This will anger Iran but, they are just competitors for trade in Syria and oil in general down the road anyway.

Putin is supporting Free Syrian Army as long as they continue to fight ISIS. The question is, once ISIS is destroyed, is the enemy of my enemy still my friend. Think Putin is playing the west at their game. Russians have always been good chess players.

"Now its several units totaling more than 5,000 people, along with regular troops, are conducting offensive operations against terrorists in the provinces of Homs,

Mr. Putin seems to be learning of the harsh reality of "Foreign Entanglements"

In the war for who gets to supply Europe with gas he and the Iranians were always going to end up disagreeing.

His real problems are in the Ukraine. Lots of rocket and artillery fire in recent days in the Donbas.

The lower the oil price goes the less money he has.

It makes no difference to Rodina ; when Syria saga comes to an end,it also brings an end to Russian Federation.

Putin has badly miscalculated , got Kadirov shot in the head and the message was sent.

Will the next person to get the job be easier for Europe to get along with?

I ask as someone who believes that 1989 was one of the "Great Lost Chances" of history.

Instead of fear and distrust the "West" should have been sending food and money.

I would take it as a value bet because if he serves the stability he will deserve an agreement and the support not only in the region. His success is inevitable as long as he's doing the right thing. Today's problems are tomorrows' progress. You will like him in the end of the day even if it includes painfull transformation of your own country.

They did and lots of it but we'll put in just used that as an excuse to consolidate power.

He is better at fight club than he is research...as all he does is parrot Russian media.

The problem is most of the stories on zerohedge are BS and don't have any actual research done, but if your looking for a good fiction story that's the place to start.

I was in Berlin when the Wall came down . We partied like it was the beginning of a better world , little we knew that the Red Menace [ Russkies ] was already replaced by Green Menace [ Muslims ] .
We all thought that the Capitalism was in for a bigger Challange since it was the only system that seemed to function normally.
I often said that we should send money instead of soldiers & guns . Young idealistic me didn't knew that the Capitalism was about to be hijacked by Corporations and Democracy was slowly being supplemented by Consumerism.
Russian side wasn't making it easy , they were being looted by Western Interest and Russians knew it .

What we didn't understand that the letting go off Eastern Europe while still holding onto Central Asian was the game plan ; some people in Kremlin had alternative plans for future .

I actually met Putin in a Casino way back in 1991 .

He looked like an Eastern European accountant , I remember thinking that this guy is losing all this money but he doesn't seem to care .

To unify East & West was the name of the Game but Russia had other plans ; as long as West had looters as businessmen ; Russia was not going to let these Western Capitalists dictate the game.

Russia might have Medvedev replace Putin perhaps and that might not be such a bad move ; the Tsar Putin has taken Russia in to a Cul de Sac .

Does anyone have anything in their houses which says " Made in Russia " ?

Neither do I .

Russia can't compete in a Capitalist & Consumerist World ; Russia has no ideology left to sell at all .

Hopefully this saga will come to an end by the end of 2016 and Putin will be in history books .

Stability is not what Putin & Russian economy needs at this point in time , unfortunately .

You see the higher the oil prices better it is for Kremlin and to have Russian & Western forces in such a close proximity is an invitation for uncertainty .

Putin will do everything to make sure the drop in oil prices are not the end of his regime .

Ultimately ; Russia has to decide whether it is a force for good in the world or just a protector of Orthodox Christianity .
