Russia used to have allies. Syria, Cuba, Venezuela, Belarus, Ukraine, Serbia, India, Vietnam. You can not really count China or Iran as they are just as happy to screw Russia over as they are to help it.

Now Russia has Assad who can not even control the small part of Syria he claims without Iran, Hezbollah, and Russia. This would not be an ally this would a liability.

Belarus has become hostile, Cuba has moved to the US, Ukraine has become hostile, Serbia is drifting toward the West, because Russia is to weak to help the confront China India and Vietnam have moved to the West, and Venezuela is a failing state.

At this point almost all the former Soviet Republics range from unhappy with Russia to hostile. And mostly do to the treatment of Ukraine.

Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran have their own agendas and would not lift a finger to help Russia. Iran has refused to support Russia with Ukraine a the Crimea.

Then you have China, once Russia's great hope. However when it came time to support Russia on Ukraine and Crimea China chose not to. And with the India/Japan/US trilateral China has been aggressively courting the US. Its leaders recent visit was a charm offensive and China just arrested a bunch of Chinese hackers at the request of the US. Right now when China is hurting it s relationship with the US is the most important one it has. That can not make Russia happy but, China always does what is best for China.

Russia's fall over the last few years has been shocking. The way it has turned the world against it is something rarely seen.

Its actions in Syria attacking the rebels and avoiding ISIS allowing ISIS to go on the offensive has done even more harm to Russia. The hole they are digging themselves is staggering. They are so desperate to try and hold on to what they can short term that they are wrecking themselves long term. And the people who pay the price are the Russian people.

I would be laughing my butt off if the situation were not so serious! Obama is completely delusional as he swims about in the River of Denial!! WTH? Is wrong with this idiot??

And yet the gist of that Obama said is correct. Russia is very short of allies in the Middle East - with only a dysfunctional and brutal dictator (Assad) and Iran to count as allies. Hezbollah (the Party of God) is a lacky of Iran and considered a terrorist organisation, while Hamas (another terrorist organisation) does not get along with Hezbollah and is not involved in Syria.

Putin has no allies of note in the developed and liberal West. In fact, Putin leads a Russia that is more isolated now than at any time in their history. Arguably, Russia is now a proxy of Iran in the region and being used as part of a wider Sunni vrs Shia vrs Sunni conflict that's been going on for hundreds of years.

Or is this just an Obama-bashing thread where fact is irrelevant?

You might want to do a search for "Why a Russia-India-China alliance is an idea whose time has come". Or just find the new defense agreement in the works ... Will it be enacted ? Either way those who think China or Russia do not have allies need to walk out of their back yards and take a look see. China is actively seeking partners to counter balance the USA swing to the Pacific.. It is a fine line for many smaller countries to walk due to the money China is spending on public work projects and joint military exercises in these countries. Everyone likes money and China's philosophy of investing in countries infrastructure instead of just buying and installing a few politicians is working quite well.

A Russia, China, India alliance would be something for anyone to consider as a counter balance of great resources.. Problem is China already has such an agreement with Pakistan which might throw a wrench into the whole process with India.

Other sources are stating a strategic military alliance is in the works.. If that is the case then it makes sense for them if they believe the USA and allies do not have their best interest at heart; or will cut and run at the first sign of real trouble..

Problem for China is they are nuts when it comes to the island building and claims for international waters that they have no legal claim for..Right or wrong though if Russia and China buddy up (not even counting India) then much of the world will have a very different geopolitical look and feel to it..

China's decision to invite both Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh and Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev to Beijing on Tuesday has political strategists wondering if Chinese president Xi Jinping is trying to develop a new China-India-Russia alliance, reports Duowei News, an outlet run by overseas Chinese.

During the Oct. 22 visit, Medvedev signed an US$85 billion deal for Russia to supply 10 million tonnes of oil to China every year for the next 10 years, while Singh is believed to be attempting to foster stronger trade relations between India and China

Obama bashing ?
www.wantchinatimes.com...

China is sending assets to Syria... so it kinda looks like Russia has a few friends in the area.

Other reports but this is an easy video to post.

Fair enough, even RT is saying China is coming

www.rt.com...

Even RT? RT was once a good source, refreshing. They are no longer.

Okay, so rather than look for yourself, you're going to reject every source I supply.

Hmmm, discredit source and kill off truth. Those were cold war tactics used by BOTH the CIA and the KGB

True that, I got a similar reaction posting a RT link.

But you know people, are either being delibrate at ignoring what's really happening or are playing the propaganda card, when they haven't made an effort to validate for themselves any of these claims.

Besides, most would source from one side only, unlike yourself and Willtell among many others, I find you folks have a fairly varied source of information, which only makes for a good view of the current Syrian crisis and the truth unveils itself.

Just had to make mention

Yes Sir! Carry on. I love that movie series. We honestly need more of that kind of comedy today that makes fun of ourselves and our society. Dr Strangelove is another great movie from the period. Sorry a bit off topic but what you said made me think of these movies.

There are people here complaining about the pro-Russians well Id like to complain about the Langley CIA Drivel that gets posted.

Yeah, people don't like RT, because it calls a spade a spade and it does bash the USA a LOT, which bruises some egos.

And back on topic, Russia is weak hmmmm?

Russia sends world's largest sub, armed with 200 nukes to Syria

Suffice to say that one sub could wipe out half the middle east if so desired.

But hey America good, Russia bad, Putin bumbling idiot

I saw this before too. While I have absolutely no respect for Trump, he actually makes sense on this one

I'm getting real tired of the Russian propaganda bots and their ridiculous threats.

When you say "bear", you mean as in big hairy gay man, right?

The only price the Russian people are having to pay is the economic sanctions imposed on them by the USA. Their economy will now be further stretched by having to deal with the mess the US has caused in Syria. It may well be that now the USA realises that they can't get rid of Assad they will be satisfied at the cost to Russia, not by any sullying of reputation but financially.
You will use any silly argument you can to besmirch them...now they aren't attacking ISIS enough...hey that's a staggering statement in itself. There are a whole barrel load of terrorists in Syria...would be more if the US had their way...regime change at any cost seems to be the way of it. Who is the USA to demand that anyone must go? Their involvement in Ukraine and Syria has by default enhanced Russia's worldwide reputation.
They have now decided to stop the stupid and costly idea of training and arming moderate rebels but will continue to supply arms and equipment. What gives them the right to do this? There should be worldwide condemnation of the US and it's foreign policies.

Delusional? yes, but you have to look at the game pieces.

Obama is talking from a position, of a "religious" leader who is absolutely convinced that his side will win this war. Thus, to Obama, that the US economy is worse than Russia's, is not an argument. The US will have the spoils of war, and Russia won't.

This is why Putin has to be willing to get his hands dirty ... because it all depends on the endgame.

Well that has been a prime objective for the last 40 years of the powers that be, you think the west as whole sunk to this level of stupidity by accident:

of course he thinks your dumb as toast, why wouldnt he,?I do!.

What about when Obama suddenly realizes that the Russian operations underway in Syria, in unison with Iran's Revolutionary Guards & their proxy fighters of Hezbollah ....are no-longer just a weak thorn-in-ones-side
BUT constitute a major threat to the USA total Theatre Dominance ??

consider these 'dots'... they are not just idle words cast upon our ears...

Executive Order 11051
Specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis.

www.thecommonsenseshow.com...

the bar is set so low it's scary...
A declaration of Martial Law because of 'increased international tensions'...?

do they mean like now, with Russia attacking the Anti-Syria armies of rebels & terrorists the USA supports ?...
this October could very well be termed or declared a time of increased international tensions !!

next of all... the state of emergency and the resulting Dictatorship can be in force for 15 years !

see:

Executive Order 11049
Assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a fifteen year period.

TPTB have strung out the road-map for the takeover so that we collectively cannot connect-the-dots

don't be surprised

Anyone that calls any Republican "idiot" cant be older than 13 . Sound familiar ?

On-Topic. Why do you think the people of the US (sorry world , you didnt get a vote) voted Obama the single worst President in the Modern Age? Far surpassing Carter who had held that title for nearly 30 years. Could it be the glamour is receding and people abnd people realize they have voted in a complete do nothing , know nothing ?

That's wishful thinking. Europe (a.k.a. the liberal West) is chomping at the bit to get around the sanctions against Russia. I believe they'll cave sooner rather than later. It's all about the money, remember?

Not to mention, China is Russia's ally. With a friend like that, they don't need the middle east except to taunt the US.

I'm hoping Obama was just putting on an act for the camera and that he really isn't that dense to underestimate what Russia can do.

RT is a media outlet owned and operated by the Kremlin. They have had anchors quit over being asked to spread propaganda. Don't you think these two facts give people more than enough reason to distrust anything that comes out of RT?

Russia and China are allies of convenience at best. Remember when Russia tried to claim that they were forming a trade agreement with China and China smacked them down and said it was actually a loan? Remember when Russia occupied Crimea and China didn't defend the legality of the move? The Chinese economy is too closely tied to the US economy. If a war between Russia and NATO actually occurred I don't see China coming to Russia's defense in fear of hurting their own economy.

RT may be a propaganda machine but it doesn't help that the US keeps giving them ammunition to use. It also provides many interviews etc., that give an alternative view to our own MSM. It may be that Russian people watching RT view it like we do our own media...who can say?
I don't believe a lot of what they say and can see the bias but they do draw attention to our own respective government's failings. They can be a foil to our own media spin.

Dont let anyone lead you to believe you cant say anything you want about any President . Especially anyone that is not a US citizen and doesnt even live here. True US citizen here and former military who swore an Oath once upon a time to defend the Constitution. No , not the President . No , not the country. The Constitution . And that document gives you right to freedom of speech.
Go ahead, call em as you see em on my dime
