Gay Pride Day? Check.

Black History Month? Check.

MLK Day a National Holiday? Check.

Asian (AZN) Pride? Check.

"Sensitivity" training for school children? Check.

Pagan Pride? Check.

American Pride Day? No! It's wrong! Someone might feel bad! Boycott! Protest! Bad!

for the last time, WE ALREADY HAVE AN AMERICAN PRIDE DAY. we celebrated it last july and we will do so again next july. should we just have an american pride month and spend 30 days talking about how awesome we are?

I just keep envisioning a Rebel Flag type scenario. I could be wrong.

I read the article. It said it came in third in a vote.

So, who exactly is behind this outrage? Redneck, flag waving parents spurring their kids on?

As always: THERE'S MORE TO THE STORY

The Fourth of July is not American Pride Day. Fourth of July is the day we celebrate our independence as a nation. You might think it's a day of American pride, but it's the nation's birthday. Are you going to argue that it's wrong for Mexico to celebrate all their national days: Mexican Flag Day, Mexican Independence Day, Cinco de Mayo, Constitution Day, Revolution Day, Labor Day, etc.?

Basically pretty much every country celebrates a lot of days related to it's nation and national pride, but somehow it's only wrong to do this in America?

Did the other two days get ignored? Were the terms of the vote that the administration was absolutely bound to accept the vote or was it only one component of the decision?

mexico is irrelevant to this discussion. also, the 4th of july is absolutely american pride day. just ask any american.

I don't know.

I doubt we have the full story.

I'm not saying its wrong either.

I'm saying anything can be done right or wrong.

Maybe they've had issues in the past. Maybe there is reason for concern.

I'm sure "they" say the Pledge of Allegiance everyday. And there's plenty of other American History celebrations.

I'm just seeing that In Your Face - - like the Rebel Flag thing.

Can we have a "human pride" day? I don't think there are any aliens from other worlds here to be offended. Everyone could therefore be included.

Are you human? Yes? You too can be part of the festivities!

What part of "get the F*K out of our country, if you don't like the way we do things?" do they not get?We are the only country that I can think of that has turned from a Beast that everyone feared, to 'Sissy Nation' in such a short time... all since Obama got into office.

How about a Pride in Who You Are Day.

Covers everyone - - except the Prideless.

Also, who cares about "America day" to begin with? It perpetuates an ultra-nationalist mentality that I find to be quite dangerous.

I'm kinda with you. What does America Pride Day mean anyway?

Does it really need to be in public schools? Do kids really need to be part of an exclusionary celebration?

Reminds me of when I was in school back in the 50s and EVERYONE, Christian or not, had to participate in the Christmas program. Even my Jewish friend.

You are so right.

All pride days should be abolished,
because someone is bound to feel left out.

I get that the students decided not to and really don't blame the principal.

But the way you are all going on.

I guess the only tolerant and fair thing to do is to:

abolish American pride days at all schools

abolish Black history month
, because Hispanics,
Asians etc will feel left out and snubbed without their own month

abolish all Christmas activities and celebrations
(oh wait, schools are already doing that)
well abolish Christmas altogether
and make celebrating it in any public way
(even trees in stores) a crime
so we don't hurt the feelings of non-Christians
(actually I've been for abolishing Christmas for a long time,
but not for this reason) but it is unfair,
take it out of stores etc,
we can't have anyone have hurt feelings;
make celebrating Christmas a hate crime
for it's insensitivity to non-Christians for sure

abolish all Spring celebrations,
they originated with pagen holidays and morphed into Easter, ewwww,
so they hurt the feelings of non-pagens and non-Christians,
spring break must go, all celebrations of spring are inherantly related to
either the pagen or Christian religions, must go for sure
as must May Day celebrations,
and easter egg hunts
(how much more intolerant can one be
than an easter egg hunt, hurts the feelings
of everyone who doesn't celebrate Easter as a religious holiday)

abolish Gay pride celebrations
they hurt the feelings of heterosexuals who feel left out

abolish The Fourth of July,
you can't get any less inclusive and more hurtful than that holiday can you?

Must, must abolish Valentines Day,
that one really has to go, it leaves out so many people
that it is insensitive to those without valentines
and hurts their feelings and makes them depressed.

Oh while you are at it, you know the word holiday
comes from Holy Day,
so that word must become politically incorrect to say
and people should get death threats and hateful emails
for saying the word holiday, because it is a hate filled
reminder of religion
and that makes the non-religious
have hurt feelings.

Yep, these are things we must do now to make our country
tolerant and fair to all.

(sarcasm is dripping for those of you who don't get sarcasm)

We all want a more tolerant and loving world
and so must abolish everything and anything
that might hurt someone else's feelings.

We should also make a law, to be tolerant
and fair to all, that even accidentally
hurting someones feelings is a crime
punishable in a court of law or a sue able
offense.
Yes, yes, that is just and tolerant
and fair to all.

Let's all be fair and tolerant
and refuse to allow people to
celebrate who they are or
what they believe in, that is
so insensitive, all celebrations
must be outlawed and holidays
abolished completely so no one
feels left out. For sure!

If they allow
anyone and everyone
to openly celebrate
their heritage
their religion
their ideology
etc.
and have a day for
everyone who wants
one, then yes.

No one is hurt by these types
of celebrations really,
the people who are offended
are the very people who claim
to be the most tolerant.

As long as no one is forced to
participate in any of them.
So what?
No one is really hurt by it.
I don't see the big deal.
