The species there are in grave danger imo.
This is the one truism in all the posts here. Whether humans are a big factor or small there is climate change coming. The other side and more
dangerous is that there is just too many humans on the planet. We are eating the oceans bare and destroying habitats as we advance in population.
There is a very real danger that a large amount of species on this planet will become extinct in the very near future. Right now there is nothing we
can do but ride the wave and see if we can come out at the end intact. Below are somethings that will help us out in the next 100 years but boy we are
on a knife edge right now to the worlds population of animals.
1. Reduction in population, 1st world countries are already seeing this as they realize having kids has gone from a benefit to a large cost. India has
taken over from China as the most populated country as even China works on zero population growth. Also advance birth control will most likely come of
age where having a child may well become a privilege not a right in the next 50 years.
2. Energy Technology, as the car saved us from the horse (was a huge environmental disaster before the car came along) so will the next tech (
advance batteries?) save us from the car. I think we already peaked in pollution and from now forward it will be less and less as other techs take
over.
As to mother earth...she don't give a crap one way or the other. Species come and go all the time, sometimes in huge events. Earth is large and can
over come humans in an instant. 3 or 4 big volcano in a very short period of time would send us into an ice age no matter how large our carbon foot
print is. In 50 million years all life on this planet will be completely changed to something else and earth will be a measly 50 million years
older...hehe
