No, i'm not surprised at all, i'm not surprised that some of the Republican candidates are running on Ending Marriage equality, or that people are saying they would die fighting it etc

Exactly. That's why I said she is going to play the victim card. Then tons of other Christians will eat it up and validate her bigoted beliefs.

10 bux says that if she loses her job and/or goes to jail, she plays the victim card.

Of course she will.

But, it won't do her any good.

Sure it will. The pizza place that wanted to deny gay people food that should have been shut down by public will ended up getting more money than it ever got selling its crappy pizza.

And those are the same people who believe in individual rights and freedoms...

"But not for gay people, no...we don't like those people, so all that stuff about freedom and rights doesn't apply to them..."

Crime Doesn't Pay

If she tries to make money from committing a crime, she may not be able to keep it. Even if GoFundMe allows her to solicit there (which I doubt) the law may not let her keep the money.

To make sure crime doesn’t pay at all, practically every state has some sort of law for taking the profits of crime out of the defendant’s pocket, often making sure it never reaches his pocket to begin with. These are usually called “Son of Sam” laws, and they’re designed to make sure defendants can’t cash in on their crime’s fame or notoriety.

She's breaking the law. Any monies she receives for her crime's fame or notoriety should never make it to her.

The pizza place didn't commit a crime. They just flapped their jaws.

GoFundMe has been shutting some of these down. They don't want to be political.

She is clearly violating a USSC decision.

ACLU wants Kentucky clerk in contempt of court over denying gay marriage licenses

Washington (CNN)The ACLU of Kentucky filed a motion in federal court Tuesday asking a judge to hold county clerk Kim Davis in contempt of court for failing to comply with the Supreme Court and issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

In court papers, the ACLU lawyers note that following the Supreme Court's order late Monday night, the plaintiffs in their case went to the Rowan County Clerk's office at 8 a.m. Tuesday to obtain a marriage license.

"Unfortunately , they were again denied by a deputy clerk who asserted that no marriage licenses would be issued," the ACLU said in a statement. The lawyers argue that Davis has "violated a definite and specific order" and that the Court is left "with no choice but to hold her in contempt." www.cnn.com...

I want them to slam her.

Were we not reasonably patient as Marriage Equality took years to go through the courts?

So what. They're doing that anyway. They cause problems where no problem exists just so they can play a victim of their own actions.

The fact that such a ridiculously obvious deception still convinces others illustrates how blind and dumb people are. But shying away from it or not doing what is ultimately the right thing to do won't help anything. The only way those kinds of tricks and lies go away is to expose them fully for what they are so everyone can see it for themselves.

There is a clear trend happening of people seeing, some for the first time, that the Church and Religion in general are poison that does more harm then good.

It's not 100% as there are still some good things that can come from it. But it's always in a very personal way when it does. All the rest of it, the lies, they hypocrisy, the double standards, the oppression, the abuse, etc. are all being exposed to the light causing the masses who have been wandering in the dark to leave it and with good reason.

These kinds of Self Persecution Drama Plays will only continue that trend until the time where they are no longer significant in any way and they will be simply dropped from society like a history of shameful emotional baggage.

I'm sure you're familiar with a young child when they decide to throw a temper tantrum. They flail around, screaming that they're in pain or sick, hitting themselves and hurting themselves as if it's not their fault waiting for you to feel sorry for them so they can get there way. But if you just wait and ignore their little bout of insanity they finally just give up because they realize you're not falling for it anymore. It's a lesson every parent and child must learn for their own good. It's very loud and annoying while they're doing it and you want to just make it stop, but that will only make it worse.

Any person representing in government should explicity be required to leave their god at home. Period.

Dont take your snake handling to work.

This is going to go badly for her in the long run and as sad as it is, it is going to set up a legal show down that she will lose, and unfortunately will set up a fall for the Evangelical community.

The first issue here that she is arguing is that her religion forbids her from doing such. However, she herself is a violator of said religion, several times over.
2) She is stating that her beliefs are more important than someone else's beliefs.

3) She has exhausted all legal options and now, with her refusal is going to be in serious trouble. The court has several options. 1) would be to fine and imprison her. However, as the people on the other side, they are not wanting her jailed. In fact this would go away if she were to issue the liscences as required by law. However, they are smart by asking for her to be fined, and it will need to hurt, and hurt badly, to include liens against all of her assetts to where she has no choice but to either comply or quit.

that would be illegal in kentucky.....
which well, just goes to show that gov'ts have managed to prevent people from worshiping according to their beliefs, even in their own church for quite some time now...

I was thinking the same thing while watching a video today of the protests outside of the clerk office...
all these people shouting out for her to stand firm....
I was just wondering how many of them would be standing firm if it was their $80,000 a year job?? probably not many. wonder how many will actually go and visit her in jail if she ends up there, or if they will be all too busy to bother...heck wonder how many actually live in the area.

I thought the snake handling law was enacted because of pastors (accidentally) killing themselves with rattlesnake bites during sermons and ceremonies. Some even refusing medical assistance to put it into "God's Hands" whether they lived or died.

Snake handling was made a felony punishable by death under Georgia law in 1941, following the death of a seven-year-old of a rattlesnake bite. However, the punishment was so severe that juries would refuse to convict, and the law was repealed in 1968.

en.wikipedia.org...

for the most part, it was outlawed when it first started, outside of west virginia, because of it's state's constitution.
I'm pretty sure it still goes on though. I knew some people in the 80's that were guest speakers at a church and were quite startled when they were offered a snake....

I don't think the laws are really that strongly enforced.

Anyone who is using Christianity to promoted hatred and bigotry is no Christian at all.

Many Churches support allowing same sex marriage. Jesus would have asked "why does anyone need a licence to get married".

If Jesus returned today, he'd be absolutely horrified to see what far right wing Evangelical Christians in the United States have done with his teachings.

Only Christians in the United States seem to have these views. Even Pope Francis has come down on the side of gay marriage.

This woman was apparently elected? Only in the United States can you elect people like this, in other countries this type of thing would just be done by your local Government agent, who is NOT an elected official. But in the USA, you've got to have elections for everything under the sun.

She can't be fired (apparently) but as an elected official surely she can be recalled for not doing her job?

When the Supreme Court tells you that you're out of options, she should definitely go to jail if she continues to defy the highest court in the land.

Well The latest on the clerk is that her appeal to a superior court has been denied, she either obey now the law or get fine for it

I am sure that the state can find her another job were she is not forced to force her religious views on others.
