The authorities said they did not know why Sandra Bland was in segregation. That is a disciplinary action for inmates already in there.

Really? You wonder why a teen would commit suicide in jail?

Teens commit suicide over bullying on facebook, for god's sake.

In fact, suicides in local jails aren't unheard of. They're not exactly common, but they DO happen.



This is a case of the media jumping on another opportunity for another "Sandra Bland" despite the VERY tenuous (at best) connection of "She was a black girl"

People commit suicide in jail. For most people, jail is rock-freakin'-bottom. You don't think people would attempt suicide in such a situation? Yes, there are measures in place to try to prevent jail suicides. But they still happen. It sucks, yeah, but it's a reality of life.

I really could not imagine anything more despondent or terrifying than a black woman thrown into segregation in jail. I am sure the people who did it, knew that too.
