You're really trying to use the suicide statistics to say this woman didn't kill herself?
Come on, man... that's grasping at straws.

I dont know if anyone of you guys been in jail, but I HAVE NEVER been in jail and had a cell all alone to myself.
ESPECIALLY a holding tank has tons of poeple in it, and they do not just give you your own cell..
There is usually 4 people to a cell after you get out of the holding tank and into the general pop..
It could be a small town police station.
Heck my town only arrests on average 1-2 people a week, so you can bet those suspects are likely in a holding cell all alone.
Homewood, Alabama.. I don't know how big the county is, but wow must be nice to get a whole cell to yourself..
Just never seen it in my life. Also even if you have your own cell, they have a general space where you eat, have some sort of central television ect. your not kept in your cell all day and night so she HAD TO BE IN their with other women. SOMEWHERE
Despite community concern that the teen's death was a result of police brutality ... video evidence of the hanging, along with witness statements, confirmed what police have said all along.
"We are so grateful for the outpouring of support for Kindra. We are devastated that she is gone, and we miss her terribly,'' according to a family statement released to AL.com this afternoon from the Birmingham law firm of Marsh, Rickard and Bryan. "We want the world to know what a wonderful soul she was. At the same time, we want the world to know that her death was a suicide. We have hired lawyers to investigate how this could have happened while she was in police custody."
Authorities have told AL.com Chapman was arrested a couple of months ago after she was caught in a nearby apartment complex checking car doors. She tried to kick out the back window of a patrol car and also had marijuana on her. Police had also dealt with her the day before her death, but no arrest was made.

I think we should change the motto of ATS from "Deny Ignorance" to "Question the Narrative". It is more apropos and necessary these days.
edit: On topic, there is so much wild speculation about any of these cases, all of which are tragedies, but the irony of this kind of thing being posted here in Posse Comitatus, is that it pushes us toward a society with less freedom and anonymity and privacy because the answer is always more cameras, more monitoring.
The prevailing attitude being pushed is that the panopticon is not good enough, we need actual surveillance to protect us and that is just terrifying to me.

If there is a video running, then there is a monitor showing it, and you don't need a bank of monitors either. Someone wasn't doing a simple task of observing.

It may be rare to hear about it but suicide in jail is a huge problem. It's so huge, in fact, that part of the intake process is solely to determine a persons susceptibility to suicide.

Your original post said you have never been in jail, yet you keep saying you KNOW how it all works. It all depends on the jail and the circumstances. I was put in for a night once, a slap on the wrist misdemeanor. I was in my own holding cell until the next morning and then released after talking to the judge. YES you can be put in your own cell. Also, for breakfast the next morning, they slid me a tray through a slot in the door. Got to eat in it too.
