Obama's Letter from singer Charlie Daniels...WOW!

I searched for a previous post and did not find one, so I apologize if this is a duplicate. I was shocked not to find it as it is a doozy!


Even though this is not the first letter C&W singer Charlie Daniels, of the Charlie Daniels Band (song: Devil went down to Georgia) has sent to Obama, this one pretty much hits home on many fronts.

It was posted to Charlie's website on June 8th, 2015. I don't know if an actual letter was sent to Obama.

Here is the content of the letter, which you can find on the link below.

Dear Mr. President,

This letter is not written in a spirit of hate, disrespect, nor is it motivated in any way by racial bias and is written with respect due the office and the awesome tasks that have been laid on your shoulders.

I write this letter because I am a tax paying American citizen who has experienced the American Dream and wants his children and grandchildren to have the same advantages and opportunities that he has had.

And no, Mr. President, I was not born into a one-percenter family, I come from a blue collar background, never went to college, have made a living doing manual labor and went into my chosen profession at ground level, worked hard and sacrificed to achieve success.

On April 13, 1967 I arrived in Nashville, Tennessee with a wife, a two-year-old baby, a twenty-dollar bill and the clutch out of my car.

Charlie has always been a straight shooter; He firmly supports God and country and the men and women who fight for our freedoms.

We need more "Charlies" to step up and speak out.

After reading this In making any kind of deal with Iran you spit in the face of Israel and plant the seeds of a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.

I won't go into the mountains and valleys that I've traveled since then except to say that I have been successful and somebody did help me build the business I own. Almighty God, not the government.

I employ thirty people, good citizens and family people, hard-working people, the kind of gun-clinging, God-fearing folks who make America the greatest nation the world has ever known.

Mr. President, it seems to me that you have little faith in American ingenuity, American capability, American exceptionalism and even American patriotism.

You seem to think that America needs a monolithic, big brother type government to oversee and regulate every aspect of American life, that citizens are not competent to control their own affairs and make their own decisions without some oppressive bureaucracy to call the shots.

Mr. President, the answer is not government, conversely, the problem is government. A government that has doubled the national debt, increased unemployment, lowered take home pay, increased food stamp participation and disability claims and introduced socialized medicine.

You support teacher's unions which take political activism more seriously than education.

You intentionally lied to the American people about your stand on marriage being between a man and woman, and continue to lie when it is politically expedient for you to do so.

You surround yourself with inexperienced ideologues and political yes men and take the advice of individuals who are swimming in waters way too deep for them.

Your petulance is unbecoming, Mr. President, and your criticism of anyone who disagrees with you is downright unmanly. You come off like a spoiled child who has been denied his way.

And while you blame your shortcomings on opposing political parties, you had both houses of Congress and the White House in the first two years of your term. Plus an electoral mandate to do just about anything you wanted to, so the least you can do is cowboy up and take the blame for the messes you've made.

Your apparent disregard for the maintenance and morale of our armed services is extremely unwise and dangerous.

Mr. President, the office you hold is not a place for the faint of heart and when you draw a red line you'd dang well better be willing to back it up, because when you don't every tyrant and despot in this world takes it for a sign of weakness and will take advantage, Putin and China being a prime example.

The last report showed that the US economy actually shrunk by .07% while the national debt and other obligations grow by the day.

No matter how many apologists come forth and no matter how much double talk you and the puppets who speak for you come up with, the greatest nation the world has ever known is losing a war with a small army of criminals and thugs that grows bigger every day simply because you don't have the guts to face the problem.

You're running out of diversions Mr. President, sleight of hand political policies eventually stop working and lies finally float to the top of water.

Time is running out for you Mr. President and the horrible thing about it is that time is running out for America too.

Letter to Obama

Except, a lot of his points are completely ignorant.

Red lines: For example, the US has been trying to regime change Syria since the beginning. We and our allies have been trying to do so through arming, funding, and training militants, most of them foreign, to wage a bloody civil war in a sovereign country. This is not our right. We ARE NOT being "soft." We are being evil there. It's called a proxy war...

Iran: Iran has not attacked anybody, including us, for 30 years. In fact, Iran was attacked by Iraq back then. Iran... is not the aggressor. This is a fact historically. Not only that, but virtually all major western intelligence agencies have said that Iran is NOT trying to build a bomb. So all of these folks screaming about nuclear bombs and against making deals, including said letter writer, are either war mongers or idiots.

Economy and take home pay: Wages have fallen and inequality has risen since Reagan deregulated things and tried to institute "trickle down theory." It has.. not... worked...

So no, I don't have respect for this letter writer's points nor letter. There are another half dozen ignorant points that he makes, but it's too late and I'm too tired to go through them all.

This makes me think he's talking about the patriot act. That made me wonder if he wrote a similar letter to Bush, since Bush was the one in office when that constitution shredding piece of junk was enacted. I had to laugh as he did write an open letter to Bush as well, but it was quite a bit different.

Dear Sir, The other night when you were speaking at a location I can’t recall, members of the audience were able to ask you questions and a young man in a military uniform prefaced his question by saying that he was proud to call you his Commander in Chief. I am not in the military but I’m proud to call you my Commander in Chief also. Your unabashed stand as a Christian is really inspiring to the rest of your brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus and I thank God that the leader of the free world seeks the guidance of his creator in running the affairs of United States of America. Well sir, it’s time somebody stood up and told the American people the bottom line truth. No word parsing, no back tracking, no wondering what the meaning of the word “is”is.Just the plain old gospel truth, whether it be good or bad. I almost feel as if I know you sir. I’ve cleaned up brush, spent a lot of time in the woods hunting and share your love for wide open spaces and dogs. You came from good stock, I had the privilege of meeting your father on several occasions and I think he was a great President and is a great man. Sounds like a bitter republican to me.

Not to be rude or disrespectful and certainly not in the spirit of hate, but Charlie Daniels should stick to music because he's got not much of value to say about politics. Case in point, the fawning over Bush in the letter posted by Pimpish.

Charlie Daniels writes:

Which perfectly sums up how out of touch with reality he is.

As a nation we were isolationists until after the second world war, and when we did interact with other nations, it was not to "liberate," but to oppress as imperialists in Latin America and the Pacific regions. WWII is a proud moment but that was less than a century ago, so where Daniels gets the notion we were "leaders of the free world for centuries" is typical jingoism that ignores the fact the US was founded as a slave-holding nation.

He also espouses that lame RW lie that Obama had both houses of Congress under his control, ignoring that the Republicans in the House and Senate set a record high of filibusters and judicial blocks to keep the government nearly shut down, at a time when government action was desperately needed during the height of the financial crisis due to the fiscal policies set by their own party.

Why are we supposed to listen to Charlie Daniels (his politics, although I don't know why people listen to his music either)? Because he wrote one catchy tune forty years ago (or whatever)?

I don't mean to rag on Charlie Daniels, but it ruffles my feathers when people give creedence to what famous people say just because they're famous, regardless of whether they have any idea what they're talking about or if they're even making sense.

It just shows the brainwashing at work. The above letter sounds like it could have been written by a thesaurus-obsessed fourth grader who watches cable news with grandpa all afternoon, yet we're supposed to think it means something more than what it really is:

Golly gee, a Republican doesn't like what a Democrat is doing. I'm shocked. The CDB played in Hannity's concert a few years ago and I doubt it's because they think Hannity is just a swell guy.

That is how this reads to me, just more left/right distraction.

America has turned into a weak and corrupt nation thanks to the GOP agenda that promotes corporations over its people. Charlie Daniels is a multi-millionaire pulling that working-class hero crap just to sell bad music to hillbillies.

You can bet as soon as he gets his Republican cronies back in the White House he'll be back to cheering on all the constitution-shredding pro-corporate agendas he was singing rah-rah love songs to GWBush over.

I think Charlie is a fine fellow and a tail-kickin' musician. He's a nice guy who treats his employees like family and donates his time to do USO shows for service people. He's generous to fans, strangers on the street and causes he supports.
He knows the trials and travails of running a business that he built. He knows the health care maze as well because he's spent some time running it over the past decade.
He's been active in politics since Jimmy Carter ran for office. He could probably teach the president a few things if the president wanted to learn.
I don't agree with all his politics but he has the right to express his views and I have the right to disagree. Do his words carry more weight than my next door neighbor's words? Not at all but he has the guts to say it to the man who really, really needs to hear it. However, unless the Barbies and Kens of CNN get on a tear about it and actually ask for a reaction, the letter will never cross the threshold of the oval office.

Charlie is far from a hillbilly duff. He is an old rock and roller from way back in the day. Anything coming from him should be paid attention to. But Obama wouldn't pay attention to this unless it was from Prince.
