No it doesn't.

But it does prove that such things can happen, no matter what technology is applied.

You, of all people on here, should know that, but if you'd rather be sarcastic about it, thats your problem.

lol, it proves everything, that its escort fleet was unable to detect must less defend an aircraft carrier from a submarine attack.

Spoken like someone who has no clue how military exercises work.

Just stop... some of us actually know what we're talking about.

You enjoy bashing the U.S. military... that much is clear by your history of posting.

Like others here, you use examples from war games as proof that the U.S. Navy is not as good as advertised.

Just keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.

Or just stop interveneing in countrys we shouldn't be in the first place?

If your getting mass protests and resistance at home shouldn't that tell you something ? IE you shouldn't be there?

As a soldier or sailor we have very little to do with where we go! You make the same mistake as many do. The military only carries out the will of the politician who start the damn wars. Don't blame the troops for the misadventures of the politicians.

When I returned from RVN ,the first time, there were protesters laying in wait for any soldier leaving the airport. Needless to say it was ugly! The protests should have been in Washington but they might be arrested so let's attack the soldiers returning home. They/we were easy targets.

We have an element in our country who will protest anything. Case in point, Ferguson, Missouri riots where factions from every left wing group came for nothing more than causing anarchy. The same happens here with every war. The vast majority of the protesters, in my time, were young men afraid of being drafted into military service and communist groups like SDS who were the ones who would throw feces, urine and bottles of red paint at the GIs. These factions will protest saving baby bunnies.

From the responses that I have read most of you have no idea how a war would be conducted. It is not ship v ship. We layer our warfighting with ships, aircraft and space based assets. So educate yourselves before making statement to the strengths of our military. It's not like playing Battleship with your bud down the street.

The only way we will lose it will be the same things we experienced fighting war since the 1950's. Groups of anarchists, student activists, yellow press and politicians seeking office by throwing our military under the f'king buss by micromanaging every move HERE AT HOME! If we were beaten it was done by ourselves not Iraq, Russia, China, Viet Nam or North Korea.

Couldn't agree more.

I think in war all strategy shod come only from commanders.

Never let politicians decide strategy, it gets our guys killed for their political ends.

In my war, Johnson and Nixon interfered endlessly. Now, Obama uses the military a giant social experiment which is a huge morale killer. He is clueless at the very least.

Don't forget the nuclear stealth cruise missile the KH-102 and
its offshoots since its creation.

KH-102 - nuclear stealth cruise missile

The KH-55 series has also been given to Iran and China, and could be modded to be much
like the KH-102.

The west needs to increases it defence budget three fold.

Actually the United States sends more then the next 25 nations combined,
and most of those are our allies.

What we need to do is make sure its not spent on boondoggles as seen
in the film "The pentagon wars".

What is happening now is the looting of the united states, via theft by
other means, by various looting mechanisms.

The most obvious being wall street crooks and thieves.

Then its parked offshore in an amount almost double the national debt.

$32 trillion offshore needs IRS attention

Which is a slush fund to pay our mercs to take over multiple mid east countries,
just like 4 star general wesley clark said in the 7 nations in 5 years video.

Too bad the new jammer is a self defense system, completely incapable of crippling any ship, of any type.

Great sarcasm, I think you are referring to this incident ?

US donald cook disabed by SU-24

This reminds me of the Chinese putting fake chips in cisco routers and selling
them to the pentagon so they had access to all US military information.

DoD and US Govt hacked from the inside out via fake chips

Thou it was widely used by the NSA, keep in mind where all the firmware is made, namely Asia.

All firmware backdoored for NSA and others

So that goes for computers, tablets, and apparently phones...

Enjoy the military empire while it's still working. Sooner of later, just like all others, it will fall.

Using defense is one thing, offense is another. Soon our enemies will greatly outnumber our friends.

Your post would more effective if your sent to the people who could do something about it. On ATS it's just us sheepeolple. We are the cannon fodder here. Maybe, we could make a law that the first people to fight the war would be the politician who started it!

If the United States is so weak, why doesn't anyone attack instead of talk? It's because we would destroy them if they did.

Like the 22 Terrorist's back in 2001 ? from then to now the US has become a Rabid Psychotic Serial Killer who has been hell bent on invading more Countries than it usually did. I bet the Romans thought back in the day they were invincible as well.

If WW3 started I would be more worried of the Americans than any other nation, no other Country has used Nuclear weapons on civilians and the USA see's everyone and everything as a hostile enemy.

Actually the japanese were not civilians at that point. They were being trained to fight till the death by the japanese government. They were assetts to war production and as such military targets.

Read those articles carefully. they are BOMBER LAUNCHED ONLY,and knowing they have those you stay out their range and use your air power to negate that before moving closer. submarines can get within range fire their cruise missiles and dissapear negating the advantage. Not to mention satellite are watching all bomber launches during such a oepration.

The USS Cook......If the Russians really did cause this they are flat out stupid. Think about it why on earth would they reveal weapons like this in peace time.......YA.

What makes more sense this entire story is a lie or the Russians are flat out stupid.....Hmm.

Since when to politicians and leaders listen to the wish or direction of their citizens. Those days are long past.

Many people now can't even work 30 hours a week because these geniuses set the standard work week to 30 hours. Ignorance listening to greed doesn't end well for any but a few.

I always think these type of threads are funny. China has a fleet of shallow depth subs for coastal defence.

Russia has an ace or two up its ass as far as subs, but that is soviet tech they dusted off after pulling it out of storage and finished it. They still cant compete toe to toe with the US conventionally.

we have had so much breathing room with unlimited resources that its absurd to think they can sink the worlds most modern and combat tested navies at all, let alone in a week.

They need propaganda and BS to counter us...because we own conventional warfare in land sea air and space.

This is absurd really.

I wasn’t trying to bash the solider.
I dont agree with the ones that hassle solders.

My point is if protesters force politicians to stop a war you cant complain. If the war was that unpopular then it should never have been started.

Actually I have a high regard for the US Military.

What I don't do is deify them ~ or anyone else for that matter. No one is infallible.

Dismissive arrogance of a potential enemy gets people killed, and if any of the so called "experts" or "patriots" in this thread don't understand that, then they simply have not got a clue what they are talking about.

The things you dismiss are the things that kill you.

Which just shows that Russia would look to nukes faster, as they aren't able to win a conventional war.
