Your post is from 2011. In the meantime, several NTSB members attempted to have the case opened again, but the bureaucracy turned them down. There was and still is a cover-up at play. That was obvious from the beginning when POTUS was called in to tell the country "nothing to see here, move along".

My opinion is that was an accidental shootdown, friendly fire if you will.

I think that may be a possibility. The center of radar mass is the wing root area and a continuous rod warhead would guillotine the aircraft at that point. The bit about overheating the fuel and a spark igniting it has far too many unexplained holes in it. Covering up an accidental shootdown seems more likely as does covering up a terrorist shoot down.

We will never know.

Agreed, we will never know for sure. USAF General Partin is quoted in this treatment of the event, and your post reminded me of what he says.
