Is Twitter going nuts?, I'm only seeing a handful that are between 1 and 18 hours old.

I think this is getting blown out of proportion.

Agreed, it says they fired warning shots... totally different kettle of fish than shooting AT them.

The intervention in Yemen extends beyond Egypt and Saudi Arabia. They have Kuwait, Jordan, UAE to name a few. You have Pakistan stating they will support / protect Saudi Arabia from aggression, which I am assume is aimed at Iran. You have Turkey making comments about Iran's actions in the ME.

Saudi has over 100k troops massed. Egypt announced they have troops in naval transports and have stated a ground intervention is going to occur.

You must be right.

Nothing at all to do with Obama effectively threatening to disengage Benny from his money tit i suppose?

Nothing to do with that, and the fact Israel has been itching to get the US to do it's dirty wet-work for it in Iran for donkey's years?

And probably nothing at all to do with the promising, historic, nuclear negotiations going very well between the Whitehouse and Iran?

Must be Iran, everything is going so well for them at the moment, they must have been itching to screw it all up for themselves, they must have organised the Egyptian ships to fire on Iranian ships..i mean, of course..

Isn't it a bit crap that in UK we pay a fortune for the bbc and they are not reporting this!

Too big to react quickly or exaggerated early reports?

Well I'm fed up with this instant "its not on MSM/BBC yet" and yet here on ATS people can't even agree what the freaking news is. Imagine if the BBC published an article BEFORE the facts were confirmed and got it wrong !!!!. They would be labelled liars, government agents, corrupt MSM etc etc.

Main news outlets have to confirm stories first.....DUH!!!!!!

If I was Iran I think I'd have to abandon Yemen, it sounds like there's too many countries in opposition to them. Pakistan Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt.... etc

Actually my response was to ask why he invoked Israel and the US when it has nothing to do with either. I mentioned the Houthis and Iran on the off chance he didn't know Iran backed them.

I can't find any independent corroboration of this story anywhere?

I understand that doesn't mean it hasn't happened, just that I can't find any supportive reports as yet and so at present I'll take it all with a pinch of salt.

This all boils down to age old Sunni Wahhabi and Shia enmity - they despise each other with a passion that few outsiders can truly understand.

'We', as in 'The West', should keep the hell out of it.
Unfortunately I think TPTB have entangled us so much in Middle Eastern affairs that such a course may be impossible.

Ok.

I'm just baffled why the hell we in the west supports the Saudis.

I hope the west keeps well away from Yemen.

Let the barbarians fight it out amongst themselves.

I hear you, but they get paid for sitting at a monitor and digging up the news...we do it for free, and beat them at it.

Even if it went up on their site's forum, it'd be something until the polished report is ready to air on TV eh?

eta..by 'we', i mean those hard-working members of ATS who can actually be bothered to update us all...not me, because i don't much.

This is what surprised me...

the Arab coalition involved... Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, UAE, etc.

just seeing these countries finally taking an action without wanting the west to militarily help.. Something we have not seen in some time.

Saudi Arabia.... Iran....

who is the lesser of 2 evils?

Government wise probably Neither.

Though I find Persians more easy to get along with than Saudis.

And Iran had nothing to do with 9/11 or the terrorist attacks in London. That was Al Qaeda, who have links in Saudi Arabia but are Irans enemy.
