The question is in the title...

What colour is this dress???

After a few responses I'll explain why I am asking...

& I'd kindly ask anyone who does know what I'm talking about, please hold back on divulging the background of this...

I would like to know if it's a true phenomenon...
Or the ultimate trollathon in Internet history.

What colour, is this dress???

Gold & White in poor light.

(looks like one on my typical "auto" digital photos

At first I thought it just looked white and gold. But I looked closer and the white seemed more iridescent with hues of pink.

I'm looking at the picture on the phone, though...

I'm very curious what this post is all about.

Well let's see...

Unless something is messing with the contrast in the shot, I would say that the garments colour scheme is a white base, with some sort of tan, or possibly light bronze coloured thread picking out the detailed sections. It is possible however, that the base colour is in fact a light indigo, and only appears white as an artefact of the way the shot was taken.

I am intrigued to find out, why I am wrong. No doubt there is some sort of catch to all this, else the question would not be asked! So CharlieSpeirs... What is the angle on this garment?

Ok, I'll bite: Except for the top part, it's white with beige or gold trim, (depending on the light).

It looks like a white pattern on a flesh tone of some kind. I can't tell what sort of flesh tone.

TJ my fashionista girlfriend says its white and gold. She claims the light in the back is making the white look blue. Ive seen her make burlap bags into something Jennifer Lawrence wears on the red carpet on a day to day basis so I trust its white and gold..........well?

It's probably some weird optical illusion and the 'white' is actually something like dark gray lol

Is it a dress?
It could be a curtain folded to look like a dress with a jacket thrown over it...the "neckline" is cut off at the top of the photo.

This is ridiculous....

Basically it all started for myself about an hour ago...

My GF asked me what colour the dress was...

Of course, I replied blue and black, because it is...

However, she said its white and gold...

Now Twitter/Facebook and many other places (I'm guessing) are currently in a massive partisan divide over Dressgate...

With thousands of people saying its white and gold...
& thousands saying its blue and black...

Naturally I thought she was winding me up, & that Twitter's notoriety for Trolldom had exploded into overdrive...

Now I'm not so sure...
I trust ATS...

Which is why I came here for a reasoned check up...

So there you go...

I guess it is an actual phenomenon rather than a Trollfest at my expense...

Btw, it's definitely blue and black!!!

Now that she is no longer looking over my shoulder I can say she has been wrong a lot.

If you people don't see it blue and black you are being controlled by aliens and there is no hope for humanity
