Totally with you on that! I can get the "could it be white or could it be baby blue" thing.

But the other colour... it's totally gold/bronze.

I can't understand how it could be viewed as black.

Help! My head is melting...

The dress appears white and gold (with poor lighting) in the original photo, but NOW... it's blue and black!

No, now it's brown and blue.

I agree. I think this is an experiment in persuasion.

Look people, everyone go back to the OP. Now compare the background of Charlie's avatar to the dress colours. Whether beige or bronze, Charlie's background and the color of the dress trim are the same.

After looking at that that picture it's actually much easier to understand how some people are seeing blue and black. It depends on how you view the bluish color. When I was thinking of the blue as a white it was much easier to see the gold. But after you posted that picture showing the blue it was easier to see the blue in the original picture and then I also started to see the gold become blacker. It was completely bizarre actually. I think it's because we intuitively know that certain colors go together on clothing. Like a white dress will have gold trimming but a blue dress is unlikely to have gold trimming so the brain turns it into a darker color. So it all depends on how you interpret the whitish blue color.

One of my favorite Soft Cell numbers had the lyrics "knocking 'em cold in black and gold"
Is that applicable in this situation?

I'm seeing a white jacket , white dress with tan lacy trim.

What sort of evil trickery is this?

I clearly saw white and tan(gold)

The last colors I would have guessed it would have been blue and black.

How bizarre.

As another poster stated....one group is definitely looking through reptilian eyes. And, it isn't me.

lol

Two different questions.

What color is the dress?

What color is the photo of this dress?

Hard to assess without knowing the conditions of the room/environment.

Most of the values are in the gray-blue range when you hit it with a color-picker.

The dress in question is not blue and black, if it was blue and black it would not contrast so much from the black and white cloth behind it. If it were blue and black the white jacket on the dress would contrasting so much it would be like the damned sun in comparison.

It's white linen with tan lace?

Okay...now I'll go read the replies. I hope I'm not labeled a perv. LOL!

Most men are color blind. Why does she care what color you see? As long as you see her looking good in the dress.

Nice spot...

I can see how they're comparible when looking at the top of the dress, lighting has caused a tinge in the colour...

But looking at the trim in the lower parts of the dress, I can see black.

If the overall debate was about lighting I could understand...

But people are adamant the actual dress is white and gold...

Even with what you have noticed...
I still don't see how anyone can see a white dress...

But I do notice the lighting effect at the top which resembles my avatar border.

It's hard to believe I gave you a link to the seller of the dress were the color is stated as royal blue and you people don't believe it.

Oh well

Well I thought this was just an experiment in persuasion like mentioned above.

But after showing the picture to my girlfriend and asking " what colour is the dress " and she says "black and blue"...well I don't know WTF is happening, it clearly IS White with Gold trimming ..Right?

Well...

Try looking at it from far away/on an angle....

We both switched our assertions.

I think we must adjust our interpretations of colour differently, some take things on face value with little processing and others, especially those who look at detailed photo's up close alot can compensate for the #ty lighting and know that even though there is a blue tint in parts, it IS white..

Alright OP, what are you up to?

The picture in your original post is now blue and black.

I just tried to test my husband to see what colors he saw and the picture was clearly blue and black.

Whatcha up to?
