Porton Down documents that detail biological warfare experiments that were carried out in Norfolk (mainly centred on Norwich) during the years 1963
and 1964 can be viewed and downloaded on the following website.
DOC Porton Field Trial Report No 610 The Penetration Of Built Up areas at night - 1963 experiment
"CDEE Porton Programme Report 2 64 The Penetration of Built Up Areas By Aerosols At Night PDF file
MOD Internal Review re Zinc Cadmium Sulphide FP public area experiments
DOC Porton Note No 188 The Long Distance Travel of Particulate C
Porton Note No 74 Extract 13 November 1957
Porton Field Report No 515 13 Nov 1957
Porton Note No 188 18 August 1959
Please take a look- even if you don't live in Norfolk, the docs make very interesting viewing. The second doc would never normally have seen the
light of day as it is not MOD policy to place Porton Programme Reports in the National Archives (formerly the Public Record Office0. It was obtained
through a request made under the Code of Practice on Access to Government Information.
It's also worth having a look at the 11 page - DOC Porton Note No 188 The Long Distance Travel of Particulate Clouds.
Check out the particle count map and compare the level of particles counted for the rest of the UK with the amount counted for the south Dorset area.
The Dorchester area count was the highest ever recorded in a Porton ZnCds experiments, a massive 4,315!
As you can see the aircraft flew along the coast from Norfolk-Dover and the along the Engish Channel until a point just off Swanage,Dorset-where it
appears to have dumped an enormous amount of ZnCds.
All documents are now Unclassified and in the public domain.
