16' Disc near Skeleton Canyon in Arizona

I was exploring the Skeleton Canyon, Arizona area in Google Earth and came across a large, disc shaped object on the ground miles from any roads or inhabited place. It appears perfectly round with a diameter of 16 feet.

Could it be a downed, experimental aircraft or UFO? There is probably a mundane explanation for it, but it does seem to be a strange place to put some man-made object.

Co-ordinates: 31°34'39.89"N, 108°59'50.63"W

MMMmmmmm,

interesting, Bing maps shows this:

even with the birds eye view, it is almost flat to the ground, so not a silo,

Does anyone from ATS wilderness know what this could be?

Link on Bing binged.it...

If you check it in Google Earth it's been there since at least 1997. There is also a small structure next to it.

I don't think it's a silo. With the angle of the shadows from the trees it would definitely be casting a nice size shadow.

If you look around in the same area, there are hundreds of circular patterns, so will guess it's used by someone using some form of cover maybe a tent or other stuff.

There is another one exactly the same north west of OP's

According to the Google Earth historical imagery, the object first appeared between June 30, 2005 and December 25, 2006. So whatever it is, it's been there for nearly a decade.

Could we be looking at the top of a standpipe? Dessert communities and environs need places to store rain water in case of fires.

I think the 2005 image is a bad one, or it's obscured in some way - it is in images from before then.

A yurt or geodesic dome hut... or cattle feed/water container.

Someone will likely come on and tell us to stop spying on their desert hideaway.

I think its a Biomimetic dew harvester or rain water collector

The trees are barely casting a shadow. It pretty much just outside the actual canopy. I'd say close to mid day or just passed. Certainly not late .
But agree this item is not tall in comparison to the trees.

Here is the other one, plus the circular patterns.
So that's two crashed UFO's

Looks like something is being moved around and dirt removed from the spot.

Considering both disks are near the Arroyo I think you may be right. I followed the gully wash for a bit and thought I saw another. These may be water measuring devices.

Do you mean this one: 31°34'59.08"N, 109° 0'25.82"W? It is about 0.7 miles due northwest from the other one. It is obscured by trees, so it must be close to the ground (if not actually in the ground).

You say you see hundreds of circular patterns. I'm not seeing them. Are they similar to the OP's?

How about a satellite Dish?

Currently, the title of world’s largest radio telescope belongs to the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, but by 2016 that is slated to change. China has begun construction of a radio telescope with 3x the capabilities of the Arecibo Observatory in a remote part of the Guizhou province in southern China. Expected to take four years to build, the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) will be the most advanced telescope of its kind.

Peace
