I am quite childish, and often set up a (password protected) WiFi connection point from my Android phone when I'm out and about or at home, with stupid names for the connection.
Today I have decided on 'Police Net Surveillance Unit' so anyone's device searching for WiFi near me will see it and either chuckle or be concerned, but I have been at house parties before now and changed it to 'Police Mobile Drugs Team' - which got a reaction from a couple of people after a short while...I kept my mouth shut though and chuckled to myself.

So, is it just childish me, or does anyone else choose stupid names for your WiFi connection, on your phone or at home?

Funny!

Try "Publishers Clearinghouse Prize Patrol", people will go on lock down waiting for a knock at their door!

Years ago I named my parents network 'virus'. Apparently some of the neighbors thought is was an actual computer virus.

"FBI Surveillance Van" is always a good one.

Mine is "NSA Team B"...you know, because Team A is busy.

I'm thinking about changing it every few months to really keep people guessing.

I did have mine called "I'm watching you" once, but that was even a little too creepy for me

The only memorable one from my place is "Hammertime".

Before that we had "Get Your Own Connection *%#@" on the list.

If I ever get a connection I'm naming it "Two Guys From Quantico WiFi", big fan of the Simpsons

I fake out people all of the time. What I do is this:

I set up the name of the signal on my phone to mimic what ever WiFi signal I am at like Starbucks, or McDonald's, and I wait.... For them to complain about not being able to connect.

But make sure you have them reset their router. Doing so causes them to search for new connections and they spend time trying to connect to it.

I love watching those iPad idiots try to figure it out.

Another thing I do is rename the WiFi to FREE WIFI, or Experimental High speed WiFi 200 megabits per second. I will add the zip code and set up a different type of security that doesn't require any passwords.

(mac address filter)

The neighbors after a few days in my apartment community will ask about why it doesn't work. That's when you tell them they have a virus.

Hah! I had the FBI surveillance van 13 in my neighborhood and freaked out for about 3 seconds till my 'just woke up and have had no coffee yet' mind clicked to the fact that no FBI unit would name their WiFi that lol. Those other ones are pretty good too.

A few years back I lived in a apartment complex on the bottom floor. The neighbors above us would have the loudest most obnoxious sex at any and all hours, so we changed our wifi to 'we can hear you having sex'. It took about two weeks, but alas we had peace.

When I first moved into my apartment I "piggybacked" on a neighbors WiFi for over a year. Now everyone has a password. Since one of my neighbors got a visit from the panty police for accessing child porn I have set a random 26 character password for my net. It seems that the neighbor had an unsecured WiFi and someone used his signal to download kiddy porn. It took him several months to prove he didn't do it and get his confiscated computer and storage devices back from the police.

FBI Surveillance Van 'local license plate number here'

Not many people try to connect to it. Lol. I use it for my phone WiFi hotspot when I need it.

My husband decided ours would be hideyokittenshideyowifi, it's pretty awesome

One of my neighbors has FBI Surveillance as their wifi name, lol.

Occasionally when driving through different areas or city's, I'll pull up the wifi and browse through people wifi names. There are some pretty wild and some really nasty ones out there.
