McALLEN - Law enforcement officials and city leaders from across the Rio Grande Valley are preparing for what they say could result in tense moments or violence.

Officials say they received word that members of a militia are threatening to block ports of entry.

In Starr County, international bridge authorities met with Customs and Border Protection officials Thursday. Their goal was to discuss the potential problem and find a plan of action.

Militia Threatens to Block Traffic at International Bridges

So now the Americans that want to secure the border are the potential bad guys? Not the invaders?

Guess its only a matter of time before they can arrange a shooting incident down there with authorities so they can nip this whole people taking matters into their own hands thing...

There was a time, before the mass hysteria invaded the USA, that armed vigilantes were universally considered the bad guys.

Don't act so surprised that they will return to that status quickly if they are allowed freedom to operate.

This is probably just another ratchet in the program to hype Americans into a state where further restrictions on our freedoms will be forthcoming......

So the people ask the powers that be to do their job an they wont, what choice is left? You want to paint the average American as a danger?? What do you consider the invaders and the powers that be then?? Heros?

Officials received word that members of a militia plan to protest illegal crossings by blocking traffic on Sept. 20.

"Protesting Illegal crossings" of what, Illegal aliens?

Sorry I'm behind the curve and the article is vague.

If they take the law into their own hands then they are the bad guys. You cannot just let vigilantes do whatever they want because you never know where it will stop.

People complained when the Ferguson protestors blocked a highway so the police placed them under arrest so the same thing should be done to these people.

You act like the border guards don't stop people from coming into this country but they s\do stop quite a few people from coming in. We have around 21,000 border guards to control almost 2,000 miles of border with Mexico there is no way possible we can stop everyone from coming in. So this they aren't doing their job is nothing but BS.

It is a bit different when the road is a border crossing and not a road inside the u.s. but shutting it down is not the answer. Now setting up a check point could take on a whole other light because of the whole citizens right to arrest someone.

I don't know about that.
Before Bundy went all opening sequence to Blazing Saddles racist (not satirically) and had his crowd around, I saw pictures of people setting up sniper posts on highway overpasses. Aiming rifles through the concrete barriers. No arrests that I recall.

These are the same types. The Feds will stay waaaay back, until necessary.

This has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard of someone doing.

So....they want to "enforce immigration" by blocking ports of entry? Do they not know how people end up getting here illegally? Maybe this particular militia has never swam in a river before? Or walked across a shallow stream?

To be fair, smuggling is crossing the border illegally, and a fair number of illegal immigrants cross the border in vehicles, being smuggled into the country.

They better get arrested like the people in Ferguson did. I don't think they should as it is their right to protest but what is good for goose is good for gander

I wonder if the Ferguson protest movements will help?

We may apprehend illegal crossers but they're usually released into the US. Or if they are sent back, it's easy to go right over the border once again.

Does not help that we don't have as many border agents as needed because they've been reassigned to deal with unaccompanied kids, changing diapers on babies, paperwork.

I'm all for humanitarianism, but it's going according to their plan. They don't want people to work together, they want division.

We could provide for the citizens we have here who are in need, but they'd rather focus on people fleeing their own crises. In the end, we're all human beings, we need the same things. But TPTB puppets know they have no personal accountability whatsoever so they'll continue this mess until the bubble bursts.

Having read the article and looked at what all has gone on for the past 10 years, and especially this year, the question can be asked, is any one really surprised?

The federal government has been milking this issue for years, they promise to do something, and it never gets done. They say that they understand, and yet nothing ever gets done. Stories of illegal immigrants either breaking the law or committing felonies and not getting any real punishment, or avoiding punishments on a technicality of law, to the point where they are getting a free pass into the country and not expected to leave.

The days of being understanding and accepting are slowly coming to an end, it is a cycle that affects many countries in the world, from the lets be nice and accepting, to being isolationist. The country is in a slow recovery, the people are tired of war. Nothing is seeming to get done and things appear to be getting worse. Companies moving out of the country, or relocating to other countries, and it all adds up. Yet the one thing that appears to be constant, is the steady influx of illegal or undocumented immigrants. To make things worse, would be the apparent out right systematic attempts to remove or discourage the flag of the country.

People are tired, they are tired of those who break the law who appear to be getting away with what they want to do and ultimately, live off of a system that they did not contribute to. And that discontent is steadily growing more and more, day by day. The fires of discontent are burning, and it is not surprising that the militias are going to be taking this steps. What is even more surprising is that it has taken this long for them to do such.

i get the feeling that the average militia that would try to shut down an international border would likely not bother to play the semantics it would take to draw that conclusion.
