"How does one progress closer to God when said person is overwhelmed from every direction with advertisements about things we "need" in our life?"

I don't think that we humans are more overwhelmed now than in our past.

To be closer to God is to honor and love the world we share.

Love is the most powerful virtue.

Look around the space you're in right now... how many labels do you see?

how many commercials have past since you started reading this IF the TV is on...

We're overwhelmed by distractions in this world... believe it

Life in a Box...

I have few distractions... No wait!

There is this weird, grinning Cheshire cat

He just grins and grins.

Now all I can see is his weird, weird grin!

I think I am well down the rabbit hole.

Well, you can't sell a 2000 year old soap opera calling it Good News-- without being at least slightly hypocritical, can you?
