Robin , You will be missed . Some people just feel things too deeply, and that was also a part of his genius I think.

I dont usually post in the celeb type threads as most are just greedy aholes, but this guy was outstanding and deserved his recognition, unlike 99% of the rest.

What a sad day.

He did also have a sitcom on TV until it was canceled this past Spring because of bad ratings. It was called "The Crazy Ones".

I recall wanting to watch it because he was in it but I never got around to it.

Perhaps that contributed to his depression.

It's rare that one person can make such a different.

Today, the human race is suddenly less interesting.

RIP. It's ironic though how the man who starred in "What Dreams May Come", a movie about a husband who goes to Hell to rescue his wife after she commits suicide, commits suicide.

He did that show because he needed money, i watched the pilot and second episode and thought it was terrible
he worked for an ad agency but his daughter bossed him around and he acted like a duffous in a bad way.. it was just not good

"Oh captain, my captain".

His role in Dead Poets Society was one of my favorites and was one of the influences in encouraging my love of literature. I wanted to be one of his students.

Such a sad loss of someone who brought so much joy to others. I hope that he has found peace finally.

Take care,
Cindi

Maybe it's for the best. At least, that's what I tell myself every time someone I care about dies... because I think they don't deserve to be around for what's to come. Now me on the other hand, I won't be so lucky. I deserve everything I'm about to go through. Not only that but I'm one of the only people I know who are mentally & emotionally prepared to handle it.

Hook
Aladin
What Dreams May Come
Miss Doubtfire
Good Will Hunting

Just a few of my favorites. Thank you Robin for helping to make some parts of my life not suck. Comedy is one of the greatest gifts anybody can give to their fellow humans.
edit on 8/11/2014 by 3n19m470 because: I also really liked the Family Guy episode where Peter makes a wish for every person in the world to be a Robin Williams. Not sure if he actually voiced that episode or not but it's worth checking out...

So, so very sad. He gave us some of the most profound movies of all time....

Good Will Hunting
Dead Poet's Society
Mrs. Doubt Fire
The Fisher King......

Etc.

I was aware he suffered from Bipolar disorder and this was probably the biggest reason he sought to self medicate with drugs and alcohol....

Much more needs to do done for people suffering from Bipolar...If anything good was to come from his death I hope it is an awareness of how devastating this disease can be when left untreated....

I will miss him dearly......May God be with his friends and family......Praying for all who are effected by his unexpected death....
