The BBC' s misuse of the 'communications act' has not gone unnoticed, and people are begininng to realise.
All across Britain the people have been asking them selves,"why?".

Why are we paying this corporation Millions in tax each year when they do not represent the people, they lie to the people, they rob the people, whilst the protect some of the most disguting human beings on the planet.

When the BBC refused to disclose the actual figure of how many people were *actually* supposed to pay the fee, they refused, point blank.

Why? Because in the ago of the Internet, less and less people are actually watching TV - a fact they do not want to broadcast.

Here's how you can boycot the TV lisence in one swift move.

1) Call them, tell them you are not watching live TV, provide no fusrther information (at which point they will request a home visit, tell them you are removing 'All rights of Implied Access'.

Jobs a gooden.

Remember Acts are not Law, they require consent, and are not held above common law.
Remember that the next time the BBC get an unlawful police escort.

Hmm I've heard about this before, but what about if they get a warrant to enter your home, and if they come with the Police? This happened to a friend of mine. He allowed them in with the Police, who were only there to act as peacemakers, he ended up with a huge fine. This was a couple of years ago so I cant remember the specifics.

The BBC do good things too, although clearly you've got a bee in your bonnet. A good price to pay for a decent service and superior to anything I have experienced in various countries I've lived in.

You Brits don't know how good you have it with BBC. The documentaries especially they air are far, far superior to anything that airs over here on US/Canadian TV. Try watching the utter crap that airs on History Channel as far as history-related documentaries alongside a BBC production and you'll know what I mean.

That said, the TV licensing thing would really piss me off. There's no way I'd be happy to pay it.

Like as in Jimmy Savile????

en.wikipedia.org...

How many parents trusted their little girls to Jimmys BBC Pop Show

Or how about this Monster revealing Panorama program refused airing paid by TV Tax and a Jimmy Special on what a great man he was....

BBC chief refuses Panorama interview

My little girl was invited to be on a BBC show but as responsible parents my wife and I attended....

I have now gone a year without paying TV Tax and have not missed TV!!!! Highly recommended...

Just IMHO....

SnF OP info in case, Thread Bookmarked in case one day they come knocking as I don't even watch on line TV! First month missed Jon Snow Channel 4 news but very happy now using Internet other than TV channels for news and thereby choose what I read rather than a broadcaster issuing news...

It's nice and convenient to write off a service based on the sins of a few people who have abused their celebrity status.

They do have good stuff, matter of fact it is the licence fee that is the last thing I thought this thread was about before I had a gander. There is much wrong at the BBC too these days, political, agendizing and plain deceitfulness going on. The BBC has become factionalised, and not neutral anymore especially in the news, so few reporters now, and even fewer investigative ones. Crappy internet exchanges and mobile connections, and dodgy expert correspondents wheeled in on a news story. However we can still see something from start to end without the piggin' ads, compared to say The History Channel which has about a half hours programme viewing for every hour.

Hate to say it you missed the point

Point is BBC continued time after time to make Jimmy their star please review Panorama show and what BBC put on the air instead...

Question what would you say to your daughter if you found she was a victim of Jimmys group... remember there are people in Jimmy's ring still free.... possibly still offending....

If confused please reread the third paragraph....

No, I got your point entirely. My point is that is that it is a convenient excuse to write off of a service (the BBC) because of the sins of a few celebrities who abused their positions.

You don't write off the teaching profession, or police, or charity workers etc because of a few bad apples.

please do a wee bit of research on teh BBC past scare tactics to get people to unlawfully part with their money ...
They are a massive bunch of 'legal thugs' ... this is not a rant .. but a fact .. i do not have the time, or the will, to list all of their wrongdoings over the decades .. but can assure you there is a heck of a lot more going on than a few dodgy celebrities ...

celebrities have nothing to do with the real ugliness that lies at the core of the BBC

a quick online search for 'tv license' reveals plenty of the fearmongering ...
as of today .. i still have tv license men show at my door .. telling me i have to prove, that i do not have a TV .. they try to intimidate .. and misquote the law .. to get me to part with my money

i do have a TV .. but cannot be botherd gett9ing into the arguement with them, that it legally states teh license applies to watching 'live transmissions' (even if not BBC) .. cos they already know that anyway, and we should never enter dialogue with TV license thugs, except to say, we do not answer to you, you have no authority of any kind, and are notified that the implied right of access has been removed ...

ETA to add starting point link ... www.youtube.com...

imagine having someone show up at your door, demanding you pay them money for a service, because you probably use it .. and if you do not use it, let them into every room of your house to prove it ... imagine one of your local mobeile phone operators or something, coming to your door, and making that exact demand, to either pay them, or face a fine at court .. or, if you do not use the, allow them to go through your whole house ... and they get to repeat it again in 2 years or so again .. in case you decide you want to use a TV license in that time
is the BBC really so good after all ... i could go on, and on, and on about stuff you do not know of .. there is an awful lot of it .. and is dark at the core

Problem is that I do, because like with the American LEO's, (btw I never having been arrested and no family members in trouble with law outside of unlucky speeding tickets), cannot see the good LEO's as they who look the other way when the bad ones do what they do make them all not good! Same goes for the BBC.... Too many people looked the other way and too many others are involved and got away with it and still are....

I do not accept people who kill innocent people and others who rape trusting parent's children as I don't accept those that look the other way are innocent and cannot support by paying those taxes... I am living outside of the US as a VN era Vet....

I could do many many postings here how the BBC has looked the other way....

Knowing innocent people are being killed by tax payers with the LEO's is almost as bad as paying to TV lic that support child abuse. Please remember there are many insiders of Jimmy's ring that were never caught.... But in the States one cannot hold back those taxes but here in the UK one can stop watching TV!!!!!!

Its out of conscious I do not pay TV lic and I pay that price by loosing the right to watch TV.... Having said that, once cold turkey has finished, one finds other interesting things to do than to watch TV...

Living outside of USA for 30 years its pleasing to know I do not support the American LEO's practices... Call a cop loose a love one has been posted here on ATS for many years now....

BTW you never answered the 3rd Para..... last post..... Please do......

3rd paragraph. What do you think? Don't know about you but I have kids, but you sound quite young. Stupid and insulting question and shows the level of debate you want to engage in. If this is all about the crimes of a few celebrities then that's fine, but it's not. There are plenty of threads about Savile, if that's your area of interest.

However, like I said, you cannot write off the BBC because of these people, just like you would not tar the teaching profession because a very few teachers have been caught with there hands in the till, or worse, often with the complicity of colleagues.

PS what's a LEO?

61 myself with two girls both who have been to the BBC.... Under parental supervision before Jimmy story came to light....

and cannot condone any child abuse...

VN era Vet is a Viet Nam Era Veteran...... thus by definition to any thinker is not young....

LEO Law Enforcement Officers....

YOU ARE the insulting one I have not pointed any verbal fingers or words at you only asked one question....

As far as teaching my two girls went to school in a tiny fishing community in SW of England... Everyone knows everyone where as I grew up in Napa California and settled after 6 years in service in Marin County... I wanted better safer childhood than I had clearly... and yes I sport a "V" device award....

Clearly you cannot read I have been outside USA for 30 years.....

I practice what I preach..... Have a nice day....

BTW I held the BBC in high regard and was an Independent IT consultant to BBC radio n TV.... I would look the other way if it was as you suggested but this is decades and many many people knew.... again review the panorama show that was approved and then not aired thus knowing and still putting on a program that honoured Jimmy in lieu... and the point is not Jimmy but having to pay a TV tax that ONLY THE BBC RECEIVES and how they spend the money.... sorry you don't get that.....

The BBC is an abomination, anyone who states other wise is an unwitting victim of the British Brainwashing Corporation.

Their par-take in the 9/11 lie was also a huge catalyst for Lawful Rebellion.

To the member who asked, the BBC cannot obtain a warrent to search your property, only the police can.
And as we have Common Law on OUR side, the Police cannot legally interfer in such matters.

When the BBC get a police escort, its first objective is to make you think you have broken the law, and that they DO have a warrent. Under questioning it will be revealed that they do not have a warrent and the police are there to 'keep the peace'.

At this point you should remind them both that they are both trespassing on YOUR proprty unlawfully.

Jobs a gooden.

Youtube TV lisence GOONS, for a few good laughs.

BBC requests entrance to homes if they suspect the people inside are watching TV but not paying for it? Am I understanding that correctly? Bizarre.

There's a good chance the current government will be able to de-criminalise non-payment soon anyway. That said, after all the things the Tories are willing to privatise, I find it unbelievable that it has taken so long to privatise an entertainment organisation. I don't care if the quality of the BBC is better than other channels, it will never be necessary for the quality of life of the people, especially with the amount of people who don't trust its content anyway. Has it ever been objective when it will always be 'culturally bias', as Andrew Marr said?

With the internet now I doubt as many people will miss the BBC than twenty years ago, and with the fact that so many full-time working people are in poverty it would be a nice gesture for a government to say they're not going to force us to pay.

I had a run in with the TV licensing man

I must have had like 50 letters saying I was under investigation, i was going to be fined, get a criminal record, might even end up in jail and all the rest of it.

Went on for a while, I sent them a letter explaining that I felt all these threatening letters where harassment and I requested they stop sending them or I would seek legal advice.

A few weeks later some duche turns up at my door with a shiny badge demanding to be let into the house, I just refused to answer any of his questions and asked him to leave which he did.

never heard from them since.

I have been told that its actually very difficult and expensive for them to take people to court over this because they need actual proof that you have been watching live TV which you can make very difficult for them.

Also on a side note its also worth remembering that the TV licence is really more paying for the infrastructure that facilities the broadcasting of live TV, only a small part of it goes to the BBC, which is funded mostly through government grants these days. The TV license its a bit like the old says when you had to pay a BT line rental for your phone.
