Great reply!

I could "tell you stories" ( and believe I shared a recent one involving an intruder on another thread) as someone who lives in rural South Texas first hand but honestly, no one "wants to hear it" because it rarely suits the "woe is me/ the poor children" visuals that the media is currently perpetrating.

Many of us have stories we can tell and sometimes we do to no avail. Pro illegals don't seem to understand the nightmare that this invasion has caused. They want amnesty and open borders. These people are coming here with infectious diseases, some are believed to be gang members. I have a friend who lost his only son because of an illegal and our laws not being enforced.

You will always see the plight of the illegals in the news while our sad stores are never told. Our poor and hungry children should have a voice and should matter. They should have homes and food and medical. When you see illegals put on a pedestal above a citizen it is a slap in the face and such an outrage. The illegal gets his needs met, gets the jobs, gets the welfare...Since when did our poor and suffering people become invisible? What makes an illegal more important than our own citizens?

OK something is weird about this. I can understand if he is requesting drones if his current national guard doesn't have them or even the CDC, but he is the governor. He is asking whom for national guard troops? It cant be the president because he can order the national guard in Texas to patrol if he wishes.

Is he asking for National Guard from other states? What is wrong with the ones in Texas? When I got out of Active Duty I went in the National Guard and the oath I took was to follow orders from both the Governor of my state and the president that means Perry doesn't need to ask anyone for troops he can issue the orders himself for his state.

He wants Obama to publicly say no to look even worse so Perry can then order them to the border anyway. Perry is a great leader in Texas and he should drive them back across the border where they belong and slaughter the cartel thugs when they even get close to the border.

God Bless Texas if they do the right thing, lock down the border and tell Obama to shove it.

I live in Texas and everything that mwood and nightstar have mentioned is true and worse. People that are far removed from the border states have NO idea what it is really like living surrounded by illegals. The way they manipulate the system is mind boggling. They have zero consideration for this country and you, while fully expecting the US to cater to their needs. Almost all of them plan on returning 'home' when they get enough cash out of us. The construction company's seem to be the worst at hiring them but many people get above table jobs with stolen identities. It's disgusting and infuriating.
As far as the border- I like the idea someone mentioned on another thread, something about" taking aim, move 5 degrees to left, and fire"-haha!
a DJ here a few years ago advocated putting gators in the Rio Grande--lol

I had to chuckle when you said People that are far removed from the border states have NO idea what it is really like living surrounded by illegals. I live very far away from the border, Yet I DO know all about being surrounded by illegals. LOL There are plenty in my tiny State as well as surrounding States. These illegals are all across the USA. We have been invaded for many years. Still, I am sure it is much worse being in a border State.

It's your state Texas grow some hair on them and do what needs to be done or don't and get on your knees to the dictator. The federal government has already given up any rights they had to providing security of our borders by doing nothing during the entire extent of this invasion. People who wish to remain free and stop the destruction of the country are just waiting for someone to lead.

Obviously something is going down, they used the word disease...I know they meant it as terms of illegals crossing the border but something is fishy.

Did it occur to anyone that maybe he was asking for 1000 MORE troops?

I'm not saying the state of texas doesn't have enough, but Texas is larger than many countries of the world.

I know the illegals are bringing over infectious diseases and that is a concern of a lot of people right now.

Why does he want Obama to come there he doesn't need Obama's ok to call up the guard in Texas he is their commander in chief. Also as far as drones go if police forces can buy them I see no reason why the state of Texas can't buy them as well. The American taxpayers shouldn't pay for drones for Texas they can pay for them themselves. Maybe he should start acting like a Governor and do his job instead of crying to Obama every time he has a problem.

Buster, I truly respect the input you have on all the threads you are involved in. With that being said, the border problem is'nt just a Texas and the rest of the bordering states problem. It's a problem for the whole country.

Look I don't like Rick Perry......AT ALL. But, it is a problem that affects the entire country.

There is a reason why no one talks about their trespass adventures at Area 51.

And thats how we solve our border problems.

Put the same sensors and kind of personnel Area 51 has there.

No problemo.

There is an even better way. Shut down all our useless bases overseas and build new ones along the border.

This idea I like, a lot, like a whole lot.

Problem is Obama could make Perry look like a complete fool if he tried to put the order or request for NG troops on Obama.

As I have already said the Govenor is each states commander. NG troops are state troops. Obama could make it out that Perry didn't even know how to run his state or what authority he had. I don't think Perry is that dumb as to make himself out as an incompetent fool in front of the whole country by claiming he needed the presidents permission to order his own NG entities.

Because of that it makes me think the article in the OP was written either omitting information or with the intent to rabble rouse. The article and claims doesn't make sense the Texas Army National Guard is composed of approximately 19,000 soldiers so if the Govenor wants to call up 1000of them he certainly has the authority and the manpower there to do so. If he actually is asking for the presidents permission then that would only make him look weak and spineless.

When there is a sign saying No Trespassing violators will be shot, and yes they do exist you will see a lot of those signs in TN where there are nothing but tiny ran down towns or area's. I haven't seen any like that in the Northern States though. There is a link below with an image.

My guess is he is asking for 1000 MORE NG troops to make an even 20,000 to patrol the 1,241 mile Texas border with Mexico

The people that are coming over are not sneaking into someone's home and stealing from them in the process of crossing the border.

Actually, some are.
Illegal Immigrants are breaking into homes along the border and endangering ranchers as well as themselves.

“We’re fighting a war here and we’ve been fighting it a long time,” Mike Vickers says. “These people we’re encountering here are combative.”

You hear about the ones who make it through, but not much is said about those who don't survive the walk.

“The terrain doesn’t discriminate,” Martinez says. “Whether you’re 16 or whether you’re 60, if you’re not equipped to do the walk, if you’re not equipped to have everything in place to assist you to get through, you’re not going to get through. It just ain’t going to happen.”

www2.nationalreview.com...

Remember this isn't a walk in the park, it's hot and dry and a long walk. People die on these illegal border crossings, from the guides, from the cartels and from the elements

Also remember that the cartels cross the border at will and there are more than guns and drugs crossing with them. It's a major highway for human trafficking as well.

I don't believe the borders should be closed (probably impossible to do anyway) but they do need to be much more secure then they currently are.

Closing the borders is problematical because no one would be able to get in, true, but no one would be able to get out either. Difficult to secure the borders anyway, have you actually looked at our borders?

The land borders could be secured, but if you look at the Great Lakes area you will see a major problem.

I would suggest patrols along the borders, primarily to stop the Cartels.

UPDATE: Local news as of 40 min ago...

"Immigrant Child Diagnosed With H1N1 AT Lackland"

www.ksat.com...

THIS is what Perry was probably posturing about...very close to home for me.

They are very aware of what's going on...

This needs to be dealt with before it really starts costing some of us.

Never let a good crisis go to waste.

Not saying we don't have a problem at the border but something is starting to stink.

Not sure what you mean?

It's not sitting well with me, sorry.

I agree "something is starting to stink" but I sure don't need it in my own backyard.

Literally.

Many of the thousands of illegal immigrant children and teens crossing the United States border are carrying deadly contagious diseases that could easily create a major health crisis in this country, doctors say.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Dr. Jane Orient, an internal medicine specialist and the Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS), said that by admitting these huge groups of children who come from countries where medical screenings are minimal and hygiene is poor, the United States is at risk for epidemics of serious diseases and viruses that the nation has not seen in years.

“Tuberculosis (TB) is the single most dangerous disease because it is highly contagious and can be easily picked up at the mall, at a school, or on the bus,” Orient told Breitbart News. “Cases coming from south of the U.S. border can be very resistant to medications. They don’t respond to traditional antibiotics, and the few drugs they may respond to are often toxic, with lots of side effects.”

Writing at The Monitor on Friday, Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet, a physician with practices in both Tucson and Dallas, agreed with Orient. She noted that the “invisible travelers” coming across the U.S. border, in addition to TB and measles, include hepatitis, malaria, Chagas disease – a parasitic infection – and dengue fever.

“A public health crisis, the likes of which I have not seen in my lifetime, is looming,” Vliet stated.

“Other illnesses, along with scabies and head lice, also thrive as children are transported by bus and herded into crowded shelters – courtesy of the federal government,” wrote Vliet. “And treatment costs are borne by taxpayers.”

This is frightening. These kids have been bussed to other States and these diseases could spread like wildfire. Thanks for the latest update!

I wish I didn't have an update to share such as this.

It's hot and humid here. Kids are out of school, waterparks and playgrounds are full.

If there are an estimated 2K children being " kept" at Lackland in what's been reported locally as"overcrowded conditions" is it only one confirmed case we will deal with?

Not thinking so.

I have asthma which I keep under control by diet, exercise, and a pro-active lifestyle. This virus scares me, always has.
It hasn't shown up in this area before.

I also have to self-pay quite a lot for decent health insurance.

Wondering how this is considered to be "fair" to us as legal citizens.

Texas can just hire a fleet of buses to give the invaders a ride to Obama's house in Washington.Just like they dumped them in Arizona.I can't believe this administration. Is it possible to make even nixon look good in comparison?
