Ok, you know what else exists?
Murder.
Pedophilia.
Rape.
Beastiality.
Why are we stopping at LGBTQ then and why is it age appropriate?
Maybe a more sane approach would be to not single out anybody. If were gonna bring LGBTQ to the table age inappropriately why not open the table to all that stuff too.
Unless of course that stuff is acceptable to you, you seem pretty open minded.

And you would always have the choice to take your kid out of the class.
I bet the parents got a hand out of what was going to be taught. It is public schools, you are not going to agree with everything that gets taught.

Why does this need to be taught to school children ?
So that they have an alternative to ending up like their ignorant, bigotted parents who shouldn't have had children in the first place.

When is my class and my race and my religion going to be protected ?
When is it going to be illegal to say or think bad things about me ?
Since when did I have to conform my thoughts and feelings so I didn't hurt your feelings ?
Why does this need to be taught to school children ?
Why must my agenda be held hostage to the irate voices of a few ?
When do I get to say poor pitiful me, I have been wronged ?

what should be taught is anti-bullying period, end of story. no need to promote anti-bullying only against specific special interest groups only. it should be encompassing any and all bullying, be it over sexual orientation, how well someone does at sports or school work, how much money their parents have, cloths they wear, disabilities and deformations, ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that someone might be bullied over.
the stupid thing is by doing it in this manor of focusing on specific special interest groups and not just covering ALL bullying will in the end result IN people in those groups being targeted for bullying. kids are not stupid, they will clue in that there is a reason to bully people of those groups, since the root of bullying is over differences, by highlighting certain groups they are in fact showing those kids there is a difference. the very fact of focusing on those groups will be yet another difference being pointed out to cause the bullying. rather interesting way to promote bullying people of those groups. nothing like painting a target on certain people. and kids have long memories for stuff like that. there was a girl in kindergarten who peed her pants one day, she was made fun of and bullied at least up to grade 4 over that accident, likely all throughout school but since i moved after grade 4 i don't know for sure. so figure these kids are too young right now to understand something like sexual orientation, when they do get old enough they will remember that sexual orientation was specifically taught as being different and heaven help any kid who decides they are gay at that point since that earlier education will end up causing them to be bullied.

So don't teach your kids that not everyone is like you?
People are gay, get over it
And what is your class and race that you want protected.
How about I teach my child when I feel they will understand it.
I don't care who is Gay...I care my child be taught this issue when ready.
I promise not to teach your child anything about sex or other social choices.
Can I have the same courtesy ?
