I forget rammy...but my mom taught me to sing this when I was all of six years old by the campfire....couldn't do it now to save my life, but sounds pretty. My Grandma Schmidt arrived on Ellis Island all of sixteen and alone..I guess I am blessed.

Ok, doesn't make me wonder but I've found no translation for this song. Anyway, I will try to translate...

Play me a song from my home

Here in the mountains he grew up

square as we were he could not stand .

He boarded a plane to flew over the sea,

far away from us ,

and he never came back.

Over there he has made a career

is proud of his house and his boat.

But in the evening he drinks too much beer in the bar ,

therefore he says, full of longing,

to the man at the piano :

Play me a song from my homeland ,

of mountains, villages and lakes,

play me a song from the home ,

where the roses bloom beautifully .

I've left my home,

destroyed the bridges behind me ,

play me a song from my home ,

Then I dream a little...

The musician knows the lonely man ,

and as always it starts with

the Kufstein - song ,

then they both sing , as well as possible,

and he thinks that he stands in front of the mountains

The sky is blue and the air is so clear ,

the peaks seem close,

Now he feels like he is at home

because only in his dreams

he can see his home again..

Play me a song from the home ,

of mountains, villages and lakes,... and so on an on...

There ya go, at least you got nursery rhymes. English is just basically German without the Gothic twang in pronunciation and a bit of French and Danish thrown in. I can't speak much German either but reading it on paper comes as second nature really.

Loved this song too....I probably should go to sleep now shortly, it's never good when I start getting all nostalgic
But, it does show a soft side
I'm sweet, really
My mom taught me this song, too...

My sarcasm detector just beeped, a low beep, but a beep nonetheless

Well, you should just Ride on darlin'...I always hated that sarcasm beep, especially that low sarcasm beep...nothing to do when it happens, maybe one of these days "I'll change my evil ways" or not....who really cares?

Oh God that was on Easter weekend, about three times (10 things I hate about you) the ultimate chick flick.

Poor Heath. Julia Stiles is amazing though. What a doll.

Sigh.
