Nice! But ... reminds me, back in those days, of the teacher with the yard ruler.

Looks a bit like "Learn or Burn Boy, Learn or Burn!"

LOL

Hey! They're nice. First two are great, third looks like he is about to karate kick the pupil for something.

First thing I thought of with the first one was Puff and Jackie.

And yes, you are good with Dragons.

Well, that is two for my dressing room. Cool.

See if anyone else wants a go.

Very nice

Just a hint
Make the wolf's eyes glow, then it goes from good to stunning, the guys hand would then be shielding us/the wolf from something almost magical, and it adds a subtle focal point

Looking good so far...

Just a couple of pointers.

I would go for a different colour eye glow, perhaps a very light blue, grey or even white. It kind of matches the theme whereas the red is really out there on an otherwise darkish theme.

If you set brush opacity down to almost zero, you can also experiment with a 'glowing' effect by very subtly shading around the centres..

Just from an artist's perspective, I would move the glow from the woods a little to the right. It's only a minor asthetic thing, but to my eye there is too much light behind the guy, which is the main focus of the pic. Putting the big knotty tree almost behind him makes the foreground stand out more. The other option is to tone down or darken the light coming from behind him so the foreground again stands out.

Just my 2c anyway.
Always happy to help out.

The easiest and best way to get good at it. Just keep on practicing. Wasn't too long ago Cody was a wide-eyed noob lost in the avatar wilderness. Now he's putting out some pretty kick-ass stuff.

Oh and I second Cody, welcome to the team.

(The hazing team will be along shortly with you 'cookies' and 'instruction manual'....)

Nicely done. Try blue as well, to me Red is more evil while blue is more noble. Could be just me. You could do the same to they guy's eyes as well. Sort of a team thing!

Just to be a bit fussy, the blue ones are nice but a bit big to suit the animal. The red size was perfect!

So now you get to decide, the red or the blue? Of course ..... green, what about green

The background definetely works better like that to my eye anyway. I'd do the eyes on the dog (wolf?) brighter, like a grey or even an off white maybe.

Keep at it, it's all practice.
Or maybe try some sleep. Always in two minds when it comes to working while tired. I've done some great work without realising it, and done some terrible work when I checked the next day.

That was some good advice and it just so happens that I've been fooling around with GIMP but i cant seem to make the layers work right. no idea what I'm doing there

Hi, welcome to the club!!

Here is a thread that was designed to help with GIMP by Druid
The Collaborative Gimp tutorial for ATS members
If you don't mind some reading, there are some helpful tips there...

Yes, it can be intimidating but don't give up

Good luck and have fun!!

Very nice !
What i would change is the tint on the guy.. take a sample of blue light ray color... make a new layer and fill it with that color. reduce opacity to 10 to 20 and blend mode in either color, linear light, soft light which works best

Then unsharp mask just a little in final pic.
Just my opinion
