are you not a little concerned that your initial OP was ''censored'' by a MOD???

because the members couldn't prevent themselves from digging into the private life of a person who did nothing other than be the focus of attention of online loonies who speculated he was Elvis.

Yes! I believe its an ATS conspiracy by SO and the mods to suppress the real fact that Elvis is not dead!

Edit to add: For those that won't notice....I was being sarcastic.

I think the Elvis subject is taboo here at ATS. Another thread just got deleted and this one is just odd to begin with.

I agree with you. Multiple HOT topic threads on Elvis have gone poof. I don't understand why, they were fast paced very informative threads. The kind of threads that draw people to ATS. Get new members involved, doing what ATS members do best. Combining research to further a goal of finding truth. I find, cutting off such threads to be detrimental to the overall community. It hurts running full speed into a brick wall that says *thread closed*.

Also, we are adults, for the most part. At least some modicum of explanation would be appreciated.

JMOHO...

Here here Des, couldnt agree with you more, last time I looked this was meant to be a conspiracy website.

Now, now, now...stop living up to your name. So, does this also mean my Dear Aunt, who died 3 years ago, faked her own death too?

Just curious...

WOW. Coming from an Administrator of a conspiracy site, that's pretty harsh to say the least.
Are these the same loonies that speculate that 9/11 may have been an inside job?

I've done a lot of digging into the mystery surrounding dead people sightings and they are almsot always a result of someone's not willing to let go of their beloved, or their idol, or their hero.

The mind cannot adjust to this person being gone and, instead, creates a false image of the deceased still being alive. This allows the person to grab an offhand comment or a line of a song, and twist it enough to prove to the person that the death thing was a preplanned event to provide anonimty in their later life. This serves to keep the deceased alive in the individuals mind and also brings them even closer to the dead person as they now have a shared secret. It's a type of stalking, to some degree.

Of course, with regards to 2Pac, he's still around. The evidence is everywhere. There's one site, in particular, that really showcases the insane resemblance of this person, and 2Pac. Go ahead tell me this isn't 2Pac.

no lawyers were involved. just an abnormal amount of staff time being diverted to dealing with the multiple threads on a topic that was resulting in a man's private life being shredded on our site.

i believe part of these threads delved into whether this man was indeed 'one man' i appreciate if you have received pertinent info otherwise that would halt the discussion?

I just wrote on 'Rants' about this very thing! I haven't posted much but I so enjoyed the discussions on the now deleted Elvis thread...I was even going to Post! And as a new 'official' member, that was going to take a bit of courage lol I have to say, I am very disappointed with ATS, they continually do this with subjects that are extremely popular and it annoys the Hell outta me! And yes, an explanation would be good!

Why is there a thread about an elvis impersonator? he's not claiming to be elvis, is he?

If Elvis indeed faked his own death, why would he come out and blatantly admit "hey, I'm Elvis"?

Regarding the other guy-- if there was anyone harassing him, that's a shame, and those people are just the kind of ignorant jerks who ruin things for everyone else, who conduct themselves as adults, in a respectable manner.

However, I'll say that "that other guy" should not be in the least bit surprised that he's attracted attention and speculation. I mean, not only does the guy upload vids of himself (somewhat adeptly) singing Elvis tunes, he wrote a book where he claims or hints at the fact that he's Elvis' brother.

I do believe that's called "Asking for it." Not harassment, of course. That's never justified. But attention, surely.

Last I checked, a man can only be one man. If you are asking me if I have any proof that Elvis is alive and well and wants sends his regards, no, I don't know, nor do I care.

Honestly, if he did fake his own death, he did it to get away from the crazy fans and the lunatic life he was living and what has been going on here, and on other sites, would only provide more reason for the king to remain dead.
