Palin was a pretty face that was good speaking to a small sector of society that just so happened to make up a good portion of the small population of Alaska. On paper she seemed like a great idea. However small state politics does not transition well to global leaader without a lot of work inbetween. I do not thin Palin is stupid like most people do, I think she just does not care. Once she saw she had an small loyal audience that would buy into her corny version of reality she made an industry of it. What I do not understand is to this day she does not seem to have anybody on her staff that can coach her before events and keep from saying stupid things. Again I think this simply she does not care about anything beyond her brand and she assumes the people who follow her are so loyal she can do or say anything she wants and they will stay loyal. She is like Justin Beiber, most people can not stand him but, he caters to loyal audience who does not care what he does or how poorly he does it. Palin is a celebrity and that is how she sells herself. She does not care if most people take her seriously only that they buy her books and supports her speaking enagements. Nothing wrong with that.

Wow, just as a point of irony one could insert "Obama" for Palin and "Urban" for small state and the paragraph would fit another well known voting segment almost perfectly.

Back on subject though,

Palin appealed to RURAL and small town areas all across the country hence the crowds drawn at the time, it was not just Alaskans. I believe they heard her message rather than the vitriol served up by media and pundits.

As I pointed out far earlier its the traditional role of a VP candidate to do the attacking of the opposition while the Presidential candidate concentrates on wider policy issues.

I wonder what if the campaign had left her unbridled what important issues we may have had proper discussion of back in 2008. Issues that most likely would have seen candidate Obama as unfit for office such as a propensity to associate with known Marxists and Anarchists for example.

There are many still unaddressed issues regarding Obama and associates left unturned by a media who had resources to search Palins trash and interview all her known and past associates in a dogged effort to discredit her but could not ever seem to follow up any questionable items on candidate Obama.

I can't say McCain really is much different in the end but, yup, Palin is and was the quintessential outsider who may have generated internal dissent regarding the utter police state of affairs we now find ourselves in with the current Oligarchic, Socialist, Marxist, Constitutional twisting person we now are saddled with.

I would hazard a bet that we'd not be discussing such items as "made up scandals" where people died because I believe she would have not gone along with these types of things like a syncopated puppet such as Biden has turned out to be.

Talking point? How about just plain old facts!

She left the office to become a Talking Head to feed her family? She left office partly because she was costing the state way too much money over these "talking points".

But she ditches Alaska giving up being Governor to run out and get rich.

Breathe of free air my butt!

She gave up her job to run for veep.

Obama gave up his job to run for president.

And personally, if she wanted to get rich, then why the hell not? Wish I could.

Not really.

en.wikipedia.org...

Palin announced she was resigning her office due to the costs and distractions of battling the ethics investigations launched against her,[2] and described as “insane” the amount of time and money that both she and the state of Alaska had expended.[3] She said the state had spent $2 million and she and her husband Todd would be spending "more than half a million dollars in legal bills in order to set the record straight."[4] Other media sources backed Palin's statement that she had incurred large, personal financial debts defending against the ethics charges.[5] The Anchorage Daily News reported that much of the $1.9 million cost cited by Palin consisted of the regular salaries of state employees who would have to be paid, regardless.[6] However, the Governor's spokesperson said that in order to respond to the ethics complaints, staffers from multiple state agencies had had to set aside their normal duties, state lawyers had been pulled off other cases resulting in "lost value to the state", and "hundreds of thousands of dollars" had been spent on outside legal counsel and equipment.[6] In addition to responding to the ethics complaints, the state attorneys had to review public records requests to determine what information to release; 238 requests were filed during the Palin administration, 189 of them after she was named as John McCain's running mate.[6]

Palin also said she was resigning to avoid becoming a lame duck governor once it was known that she was not seeking a second term, stating "it may be tempting and more comfortable to just keep your head down, plod along, and appease those who demand: 'Sit down and shut up,' but that's the worthless, easy path; that's a quitter's way out".[3]

Everything she said is pretty much true.

The GOP and the Dems are ruining everything with their scandals.

It is, she disclose things we discuss on this forum and have discussed and pointed out, I don't see where people think there is an argument here.

I agree about McCain, I think Palin was thrown out like a lamb to be slaughtered,

It took minds off the issues.

Obama is not a man who sees America like you and I see America. Our opponent is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect that he’s palling around with terrorists who would target their own country. Americans need to know this.

110% agree! I want to go further and mention shenanigans in the primaries that led to having a RINO in 2008 instead of a candidate who represented conservatives real values and was not decrepit in age running against Obama who was portrayed as young vibrant and falsely claiming middle ground political beliefs.

The GOP candidate was "picked" for the run not by the people but by TPTB specifically to lose that election IMHO. Reports since 2008 have only served to reinforce that opinion, reports such as Palin not being allowed to broach what would have been difficult issues for media and Obama to ignore as was done.

???? So, why didn't Huckabee get further? He was on the ballot. Or Fred Thompson? The fact is that McCain got the nomination. People voted for him.
By the way, I'm sorry to be pedantic, but you cannot 110% agree with someone. Percentages don't work like that. You can go up to 100% and not beyond it. Right, pedant mode disengaged.

I can see Russia from my house.

That particular quote is from Tina Fey making fun of her:

It was actually comedian Tina Fey, who was impersonating Ms. Palin on Saturday Night Live, who uttered the line that is now widely attributed to the former Alaska governor.

The basis for this line comes from a September 2008 interview with ABC News's Charles Gibson, who asked Palin what insights she had from her state being so close to Russia. She responded: "They're our next-door neighbors, and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska."

And yes, technically, you can see Russia from an island:

Yes. Russia and Alaska are divided by the Bering Strait, which is about 55 miles at its narrowest point. In the middle of the Bering Strait are two small, sparsely populated islands: Big Diomede, which sits in Russian territory, and Little Diomede, which is part of the United States. At their closest, these two islands are a little less than two and a half miles apart, which means that, on a clear day, you can definitely see one from the other.

The MSM took Saturday Night Lives comments and made them Palins.
Complete distortion of the facts as usual to tear some one down that they fear and loath.

Wow if that's true that is totally not surprising. Sad to say....
That everything presented to us is twisted dramatically.

Anyways thanks for the enlightening addition, I actually didn't know this tidbit.

Almost everyone attributes that quote to Palin not Fey.

Hmmm mind control through clever manipulation of facts and their presentation.

I've learned never to trust the MSM when they are out to get some one.
Do my own research.....

They are cold and calculating instigators and manipulators.
The MSM can make or break a person's credibility.

Sadly it's about ratings and agendas now a days, not the truth.

Au contraire, it depends on context.
One is allowed legitimate freedom to express the notion of "greater than one whole" through additional percentages beyond 100.

For example in Economics/Business matters, we can say "The Company grew by 250% last quarter", and this is technically valid.

Tina Fey lost my respect when she made fun of Sarah Palin to the extreme. I never watch 30 Rock nor anything she appears on. She turns my stomach.

These liberal skanks (there....I said it again) can't stand women that don't toe their line.

If you're against abortion, if you're a Christian, if you haven't had more than one husband, if you are fiscally conservative, if you stand for individual responsibility and accountability, if you want smaller government, if you keep your clothes on, it eats these intolerant haters up with jealousy.

I am 100% convinced jealous female journalists and liberal female TV personalities played a huge part in portraying Sarah as an incompetent just-another-pretty-face female. So wrong.

I never thought about it that way.

There is no doubt however that the tolerant left are the most angry and intolerant people i have ever met on the internet.

and I spent a lot of time on liberal forums and joined the Hillary for president forum, eye opening.

Huckabee !!! you've got to be kidding right, McCain was in reality chosen by which voter group crossing lines to beat down more strident candidates which would have called O to the carpet instead of kowtowing that went on.

Huckabee strikes me as one who would lick their opponents hand rather than brass tacks debate issues - a wetter or limper rag I've never seen than him.

I watched as more worthy opponents were systematically removed by cross party voting in primaries to select a hand picked opponent for Obama or Hillary for that matter - an opponent who was aged, decrepit who would enhance Obamas strengths to a television audience by playing youth vs. age card.

Same happened in dem primaries with cross party votes attempting to have Hillary win those primaries, which I believe she did until deal was struck behind closed doors.

That's bananas. She wasn't rogue, she was the GOP secret weapon to try to win. The GOP didn't throw the election. She is just talking in prep for her Senate run. She is making it sound like she was some fiesty thing that was held back and could have done more. In reality she was a poorly vetted last shot that ended up embarrassing the party (which is hard to do). She is an idiot and anyone that would support her is doesn't give a damn about the country. The elections are fixed between two guys that have companies backing the. Sometimes the same companies, but they always throw more support behind one.

Sarah Palin is clown shoes don't buy into her garbage.

There should be anger. This woman is not leadership material. She does NOT have the understanding or qualities needed to lead. She is ignorant of the world. She is a corporate whore more interested in money than solutions.

#12 And now she sees an opening...and so do the zionists who need her. Their work with obama is just about done.

She was prevented from telling the truth?
By whom, again?

Oh yeah, 'the media'. Imagine that. They needed racial tensions as to keep us from seeing the big J behind the curtain. So they got 'tingles' by bringing us obama. Not once, but twice. Brilliant.

She seemed quite fine with 'israel should be allowed to do whatever israel wants'. Was that a lie as well? And mccain is a senile zionist lap dog. If I were to go back and review her best hits I would lose valuable brain cells. Not falling for it. Try harder, 'media'. They simply decided that obama would yield more zionist technofacsist fruit. I think we see this now.

Drones. Surveillance. Permanent records on everything everyone thinks or says or does.

One day the s will hit the fan. They will 'lose control'. And when it does, every word you said will fall on you like a hellfire rain. Their ideological enemies taken out by programmed remote control. When your house blows up, when you fall on a street corner from a poisoned dart, it will be assumed you were guilty. They are looking for ways to accomplish these goals...so they can mop up the floor with their joystick army. Because it is clear to all but themselves who the true enemies of the Republic are. They are the ones with the drones. It is the only way they will survive. They designed it this way.

She is a zionist whore, just like everyone who makes it to the ticket, by design, whether red, white, black or blue.

And it was the Democrats who brought in the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that ended much of the above. By the way, most of those self-same Dixiecrats who supported the things you listed went and joined the Republican Party afterwards.
