Am I the only person who thinks this is some kind of smear campaign to keep him out of politics?

This is from the woman (Sydney Leathers) who exposed Weiner for exposing himself (doesn't sound political to me).

Anonymous: The part that’s most annoying is that I was 22 and in a bad place, but if anyone asked him he would say the same thing about himself, yet he’s an adult.

This was a bad situation for me because I really admired him. Even post scandal, I thought he was misunderstood. Until I got to know him. I thought I loved him. Pretty pathetic.

Last August he even offered to help me get a condo in Chicago, without me asking.

I’ll send screenshots of everything. I’m trusting you to keep my name out of it, because like I said, it was obviously a mistake. I was young and dumb.

I just want people to really know he’s lying when he acts like he has changed.

Cases like this really piss me off. Not because of what the guy did, but because of the public outcry. I mean really? THAT is what you want hound a politician for? Not the fact that they collaborate with corporate lobbyists to bilk the citizenry out of millions of dollars, or the important and illegal things they are doing, but for sending lewd text messages to someone? It is Clinton all over again. Remember the outcry because of what Clinton did while in office? First of all, like this case, it is not really anyone's business. Politicians have private lives as well, just like regular citizens.

And then they claimed it was because Clinton lied about what he did. Yet Bush lied about WMD's in Iraq, even though it has been proven he KNEW they weren't there. Where was the outcry from the public, especially conservatives who condemned Clinton? And now we have this new scandal. Why is it anyone's business? Because he is a politician? Then like I said, stop picking and choosing from all of the illegal and immoral actions committed by the majority of politicians. And this is not even an illegal action.

People want to claim that this means he is not trustworthy, or whatever. What a load of crap that is. I would much rather have a politician who actually did what they were supposed to do regarding the people, but who did questionable things in his or her own life, than the other way around. People who present a pretty face to the public, people like Romney and his wife, who have many skeletons in their closet, and who definitely would use their office for public gain, have nothing said about them.

I really do think that the MSM watching American public is ignorant and sometimes just plain dumb. They don't care about the things they should care about, and they make a big deal about the things that don't matter. And we wonder why politicians get away with anything they do, and why we have laws and regulations that are against our actual Constitution, etc...Some of you people need to wake up. And something else these people should do is look in the mirror.

Pornographer Mike Kulich Vows To Raise Money For Anthony Weiner With 'Don't Pull Out' DVD

Politics makes for strange -- and often unwanted --- bedfellows. That's especially true for Anthony Weiner, who is getting support from a Los Angeles pornographer. The New York mayoral candidate, who resigned from Congress in 2011 amid a sexting scandal broke, admitted on Tuesday that he has engaged in similar antics since then. Weiner is vowing that he won't pull out of the race, and that pleases L.A.-based porn distributor Mike Kulich, who is hoping to raise money for the beleaguered candidate with adult DVD fittingly entitled, "Don't Pull Out." "Sex scandals like Weiner's make it easier for my business," Kulich told The Huffington Post. "Everyone wants to think politicians are so clean, but they sext and watch porn just like normal people." The DVD, scheduled for a Sept. 1 release, is in the early stages of production, but Kulich promises at least one scene will feature Ginger Lee, one of Weiner's sexting partners. Kulich promises to donate 15 percent of sales to Weiner's campaign. It may sound like a publicity stunt, but Kulich claims he genuinely supports Weiner even though he's not registered to vote in New York City. "His private life is his own business and it doesn't impede his ability to do the job," Kulich said. If the DVD is successful, Kulich is open to doing similar projects for other scandal-ridden politicos. It's unclear how the porn purveyor would stay within the laws that govern campaign donations. Perhaps he'll ban together with similar entrepreneurs and form a Perv Super PAC. Kulich is willing to go even further and offer Weiner an on-camera job if the political thing doesn't work out. "He has the perfect name for a porn star," Kulich said. "I've seen his bulge on TMZ so he's well-equipped in other ways."

The NY Daily News reported, in today's paper, that she inititated contact after he resigned. Here's a young woman who knew what he was into, knew that he got caught, knew that he shamefully resigned from his position and that his marriage was on the rock as a result of it all and, yet, she still initiated contact.

Interviews with folks who knew her in high school say she was hell bent on being famous. She had no other goals.

some choice quotes from the article:

“She knew exactly what she was doing when she put herself into that,” the friend said. “He was so stupid to get involved with someone like her.”

“Her main goal is to become famous,” said one, who asked not to be named.

Another said, “She will take any opportunity to make the attention hers.”

According to the article, her first contact was to tell Wiener she was disappointed in him. So, she was disappointed in his being a sexting flirt and then went and did the very thing she claimed was a disappointment.

Sounds like she was after more than just a condo. She wanted headlines.

My guess is that, when the dust settles, this young lady will wind up on a reality show or two.

Anthony Weiner's sexting scandel brought down a powerful force among the Democrats. I admire him for his politics and pity him for his illness. Yes, sexual addiction is an illness, a disease, just as powerful as alcoholism or drug addiction.

Remember when Congress failed to support the Health Care for 911 Responders who had contracted cancer due to their participation in rescue and recovery at the World Trade Center? Anthony Weiner was someone to be proud of.

I think he would make a great New York City mayor. Better than Bloomberg, in my opinion.

He was a rising start but can he still be taken seriously? Is it possible to accept him as mayor and completely ignore the fact that Carlos Danger likes to send pictures of his penis to women half his age?

He wants to run one of the most important cities in the nation, if not the world, and he has this inability to, literally, keep it in his pants. Is he at risk of being compromised by scandal? Absolutely.

The local rags all say that the only reason he leads in the polls is thanks to name recognition and there's a good chance he will lose his lead once people start recognizing the name Anthony Wiener as the guy who posed as Carlos Danger and sent pictures of his penis to women, other than his wife.

If this escalates further, and the sexting story grows, I would expect to see his wife change her tune and, when she does, he's finished.

the only thing he can hang onto at this point in time is that the girl in question seems to have been looking to profit from the story.

Colagiovanni, who said he has been involved in dozens of political campaigns around the country and works as a media consultant, said he and Leathers discussed selling the story. He told her she could use it as a "springboard for national attention to ride on to fame and fortune."

"I hope we make some $ out of it," she wrote. "There is not a doubt in my mind that we won't makes (sic) thousands and thousands of dollars," he replied.

To be sure his credibility and the faith of his supporters has taken a big hit, but I think it's naive to think an addiction of this kind can just be stopped at will. To suppose that his resignation from Congress was a bench mark and the beginning point of his moral turn around and a personal healing is a naive assumption. On the contrary, when he lost his job he probably dove to a personal all time low point that fueled his addiction even further in the wake of his defeat and in in the vacuum of his unemployment.

It's interesting to note that the ballot that will carry Anthony Weiner's name will also carry Elliot Spitzer's name, a man who actually left his post and his family to secretly cavort with another women in South America. Sexting seems far less a crime in my opinion. Can America / New York forgive and forget? We'll see soon enough.

Oh well, I'm in California, not New York. But if I was a New Yorker, I would proudly display a bumper sticker that said "Carlos Danger for Mayor"!

Yes he is married AND he is sexting AGAIN after he was thrown out of office a few yearsago for doing it. Not only that but he is running for mayor of NY.

So seriously, is this something the whole world should concern themselves with or just the State of New Yorkers? For me, I couldn't give two craps what this guy does on his own time, but that's only because I don't live in New York.

he wasn't thrown out for sexting. He resigned. Also, this new round took place roughly April 12 to April 13. Not current.

Women's groups go on attack against Weiner

National women's groups are stepping up their efforts in the New York City mayors race to support City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and denounce former Congressman Anthony Weiner for his lewd online behavior.

The women's political group EMILY's List is sending out an e-mail to supporters Friday saying "New Yorkers deserve better than the circus their mayoral race has turned into." The e-mail, written by communications director Jess McIntosh, was sent under the subject line "I don't want to talk about Carlos Danger" - a reference to the pseudonym Weiner allegedly used for some of his on-line trysts.

Anthony Weiner spent more than $45K on private detectives to investigate his own 2011 lie that his Twitter account had been hacked

Anthony Weiner brazenly spent more than $45,000 from his Congressional campaign funds to hire private detectives to investigate his own lie that his Twitter account was hacked in 2011, it has been revealed.

Weiner paid T&M Protection Services with his campaign donors' funds and ordered the investigators to track down the 'hackers' who 'broke into his Twitter account' and sent lewd photos.

Weiner's story about his account being hacked was, of course, a lie and he knew it at the time. For a week and a half, he maintained that he did not send the suggestive pictures posted to his Twitter account in May 2011.

The New York Daily News reports that Weiner hired the private investigators in an attempt to cover his tracks - spending $43,100 from his campaign warchest on a wild goose chase.

He also paid law firm BakerHostetler to investigate the matter - though the exact amount spent on the bogus hunt. He paid the firm more than $93,000 for legal services between January 2010 and December 2012, but not all of that money went to the sexting investigation.

You really think he is fit for office, set the standards low and take a good look at the country, you get what you deserve.

One thing I've noticed is that when Democrats are involved in sex scandals it usually involves consenting young women.

On the other hand, when Republicans get caught in sex scandals it usually involves unconsenting young men and restroom stalls at airports.

That's what I'm saying. As long as he wasn't involved with kids or something disgusting and outrageous...who cares?

Politicians are human, make mistakes and need a sexual outlet. So let Wiener have his.

What part of this statement are you okay with? This reeks of corruption. Trash like this (in both parties) need to be taken to the curbside.

Axelrod on Weiner: 'It's Time for Him to Go Away'

poor guy

"I haven't really commented on this because Huma is a friend of mine, his wife, and I deeply respect her," said Axelrod, of Anthony Weiner's wife, a top political adviser to Hillary Clinton.
www.weeklystandard.com...
"But at this point, it's absurd. He is not going to be the next mayor of New York. He is wasting time and space. And you asked at the beginning -- you know, Americans believe second chances but not third chances. And you asked at the beginning when will voters say enough: I remember an old song from the 1970s that I loved called, 'How can I miss you when you won't go away?' I think that they think it's time for him to go away, and let New York have its mayor's race."

Having looked at this, the following can be stated:

It is not that he did it. It should be about the fact that he not only lied about it, but did it again and lied about it again. I think that people just need to look at the man and send him his marching orders and not elect him to office, any office as long as he keeps denying about doing acts like that. After all if he is going to lie about things that are legal to do, what will he say when it gets caught for doing something say illegal?
