I am very excited and nervous. This is my first thread posted here in the Above Top Secret universe!

Today I would like to invite all of the heterosexual members of ats to join me in a virtual parade.
This will be known as the, “ATS Heterosexual Pride Virtual Parade”. (or AHPVP as it will be more commonly known.)

Since there are many “Gay Pride” parades across the nation and around the world where people celebrate their gayness, I feel it is only fair that heterosexual people can celebrate that they have no gayness.

I talked to a few (1) of our gay members and was informed that it would not be offensive if straight people celebrated the fact that we are not gay.

Is anyone willing to participate in my virtual parade?

The parade will begin on July 4, 2013 at 9:00 am pacific standard time.

Wear your best heterosexual attire and bring your best normal phrases.

Thanks. Peace. Laugh.

no. It's a parade. If we sat around and watched porn then it would be weird.

I am heterosexual. Since my sexuality is not regularly stigmatised as shameful, inferior or wicked even by the stupidest and most bigoted, I have no need to assert my pride in it. If I were homosexual, I would.

OP, take your 'heterosexual pride' – that is, your homphobia – elsewhere.

I don 't feel the need to tell everyone im straight because there's nothing interesting or unique about that to celebrate.

There are lots of straight men..... like a large majority..... would be hell for traffic to wait.

What's the point of this? I'm not proud to be straight. I'm glad I am though. Same with being a white man living in America. I didn't make me white, straight, male or American. I'm VERY lucky to be all those things, but I'm not proud, I didn't do it. Should I be proud of my mysterious blue eyes and blonde hair? My gorgeous voice that makes every woman swoon? What about my prehensile tail or the six toes on every foot?

The six toes thing is way cool! I have five toes on one foot and four on the other so it's gonna be one hell of a parade already.

New rule is no shoes allowed!

I like women..... And grapes.

I'm glad people are gay and happy though. But as intoned by the op, I could care less about hearing of it in the news. They can go play "we can't make babies" in silence please. Like us poor hetero people.

Oh, it was, was it?

What about this, then?

Why do gays and other "minorities" have to throw it in our faces all the damn time? I'm so sick of the gays and blacks and hispanics and native americans and everybody bitching all the damn time. Here

Was that a joke too?

I'll tell you what brings a smile to my face: the thought of how bloody miserable all that hating must make you. Oh, and I wouldn't be seen dead in your parade.

i believe i was the member you talked to about this

Pride
www.merriam-webster.com...

1
: the quality or state of being proud: as
a : inordinate self-esteem : conceit
b : a reasonable or justifiable self-respect
c : delight or elation arising from some act, possession, or relationship
2
: proud or disdainful behavior or treatment : disdain
3
a : ostentatious display
b : highest pitch : prime
4
: a source of pride : the best in a group or class
5
: a company of lions
6
: a showy or impressive group

as i stated, i wouldn't find it offensive, it would be hypocritical to claim freedoms and deny the same freedoms for others

Be Proud of yourself, for whatever reason,

enjoy your parade, and you better werk!

By these statements, it seems you think participants in gay pride parades are celebrating the idea that they are not straight. That shows me you have no idea what Pride is about.

And you also assume that being straight is "normal" (implying that being gay is not)

So, instead of celebrating who you are, you'll be celebrating who you are NOT, implying that there's something wrong with those who are NOT like you are.

I was all ready to join your straight pride parade and celebrate who I am, but it's clear that your intent is to diminish others, so sadly, I am unwilling to participate.

While I understand the sentiments in your post and as a heterosexual who is just fine with whatever sexual orientation one so chooses... Below... Your "gayness" is saying something else to me.

Since there are many “Gay Pride” parades across the nation and around the world where people celebrate their gayness, I feel it is only fair that heterosexual people can celebrate that they have no gayness.

And by virtual parade... You mean log into World of Warcraft and charge the gates of mordor??? Everyone gonna log into skype and blow off some snap caps??? All the while you proclaim that heterosexual people have no "Gayness"???

I've met many of men and women that have "gayness" and the fact that your using that word to describe the LGBT communities sexuality is quite frankly ignorrant.

This is exactly what get's there gears going and your adding to the fire through some self righteous virtual parade for heterosexual deviants who want to cause a ruckuss.

If you want to start a movement of any kind, this is not the way. The way you stated your OP is pure hogwash.

As a heterosexual man I find it very degrading/demeaning to individuals who are not of the same sexual orientation just by the derelict phrasing of this OP and the "gayness" you speak of.
