Thank you, I appreciate your 2 cents! I'm a girl, dude..lol..Like I said before, I'm going to find out for sure hopefully tomorrow. It would put a hilarious spin on an interesting little mystery photo if it is a rock, or part of the wall, or whatever. Anyway, till then, jury says it's a rock. We shall see!

This is the email I received so far:
"Dear (I removed my name...sorry)
I will forward your message to someone that could assist you better. I personally have never seen a formation or rock that looked ape like in the cave.

Thank You,Chesley Beasley Ruby Falls Staff

From: Ruby Falls [mailto:[email protected]]

AMTo: info1; [email protected]: Contact Us submission detail "

I did call on Monday and was given the email address to the head of Ruby falls human resources. I sent copies of the photos as well as a narrative about them. Haven't heard specifically from H.R. but so far over the phone the gentleman I spoke with had never seen a rock formation in the shape of this particular creature. The reply I received to a narrative I submitted in the Ruby Falls website 'comments' is copied above. Until I receive confirmation from human resources I will not rule out the rock formation theory, although I still do not agree with it, my opinion does not matter, I am seeking facts. Anyway, I will post more when I find out in case there IS anyone else who is genuinely interested. My family and I absolutely believe this photo is very significant. Now I am on a mission to prove it. First things first though, I have to prove that it is not a d#mn rock! Lol

Did your Mother name you Constance?
Anyway...

Her photo reminds me of this:

www.thehollywoodextra.com...

But my guess is the figure might be painted on the rock.

Maybe she SHOULD have named me Constance. Thanks for the link, ha ha.. Maybe it is a painting, and the staff and all the tourists just haven't noticed it in over 40 years..

*sighhhhh*

Is there not anyone nearby who could visit the falls and check it out?

I have been in contact with employees at Ruby Falls, one of which escorted a press photogragher through the entire cave so she could look for the area from the photo. She never found anything that looks like a cave painting or anything that's looked at all like the figure from the photo. I guess this will just remain a mysterious photo, just as it always has been.

I will try to scan the original photo this weekend as I will have to use someone else's computer. I would love to have someone who lives near the cave go check it out. I would LOVE to get a photo of the same area now!

Do you know roughly what the height of this creature would be? It doesn't seem to have the same colouration as the rock formations around it. This figure definitely stands out in your photo.

It seems to be holding its hands up as your mother is taking the picture, Maybe it saw the camera as some kind of weapon or it got blinded by the flash and it was protecting its eyes, who knows. The round stomach or 'pouch' could actually be a baby or infant clinging to its mother. It's a very interesting photograph.

You should take your mother back there and try get her to locate the exact spot she took the original photograph. In the meantime, I found a dragon/demon in your picture.

Although it was many, many years ago, I worked at Ruby Falls (high school summer job) for about 2 years. About 7-8 months of those 2 years I was a tour guide in the cave (the rest of the time I worked in the gift shops off the lobbies in the castle building). And in the winter/off-season the tour groups were much smaller and we were able to take the tour at a slower more relaxed speed thus gettin a nice, good look at the different areas and formations. And I can, honestly and confidently, recall that I have not seen anything in the public areas nor the restricted employee-only areas, public level and also the lower cave level down near the river that is not open to the public, that resembles what appears to be there in both pics shown here. I've been in the public tour areas of the commercial cave level in excess of 100 times so I feel pretty confident in saying that what appears to be there is not part of the cave walls or other formations. I'm very curious to see what it actually is. The cave definitely has energies or something paranormal going on and anyone who has ever been a guide and spent many many hours in the cave or the elevator or what is called "the tower" (the observation deck on top of castle building) will tell you about it. I can't clearly remember the exact details of the stories about each different entity, but there are definitely some "legends" and stories dating back before Andrew Jackson signed the wall in the lower cave before it was closed off by a railway tunnel (his signature is still there encased to protect it from the cave's elements) about "ghosts".
Does this help the debate any?? Either side?? I also live about 1/2 mile from the base of the mountain (about 2-3 miles from the Ruby Falls Castle)and have for more than 35 years so I know just about all there is to know about the history of the mountain (Lookout Mtn) and the area around it if needed.

The cave sounds very interesting. Do you think, since you live there and know the cave well, you can go back and find this spot, and then photograph it from both the place the OPs mom shot the photo from and also go back into the cave and look at the exact spot where the "creature" with its arms up was "standing"? And I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that the rock/creature/shadow has genitals! Look for scat???! Thanks for posting here, and adding to this thread as well as bumping it.

I see what you're talking about in the back of the cave. It looks like 2 "creatures" with their arms up. Interesting. It definitely looks like a creature of some sort (the one on the right).

It would be great if someone could take a current pic from the same angle and see what it looks like...

Well obviously i'm going with rock formation, we just tend to see shapes in pretty much any place we look, so it's nothing more than a strange shape and a well placed shadow.
this picture is NOT the reason i will be sleeping with my night stand lamp on.

Well, we got two definite ways of helping this case out...
1. Go through the cave an take new pictured for a side by side comparison.
2. Scan the original for more detail.
I love the cryptozoological side of things, so I'm going to give this the benefit of the doubt, I will side with creature on this one.
Time an action will tell.

It's a bad picture. I can't even make out the details such as the pouch. I can get the small pink figure but the large figure looks vaguely like an upright badger.
