What a Conspiracy Theorist Believes

I thought I'd post this since most of us on this site are squarely in the articles crosshairs.

From this article there's a link to this here.

NASA Faked the Moon Landing—Therefore, (Climate) Science Is a Hoax
An Anatomy of the Motivated Rejection of Science

Which goes into research about people that believe in conspiracy theories.

Although nearly all domain experts agree that carbon dioxide emissions are altering the world’s climate, segments of the public remain unconvinced by the scientific evidence. Internet blogs have become a platform for denial of climate change, and bloggers have taken a prominent role in questioning climate science. We report a survey of climate-blog visitors to identify the variables underlying acceptance and rejection of climate science. Our findings parallel those of previous work and show that endorsement of free-market economics predicted rejection of climate science. Endorsement of free markets also predicted the rejection of other established scientific findings, such as the facts that HIV causes AIDS and that smoking causes lung cancer. We additionally show that, above and beyond endorsement of free markets, endorsement of a cluster of conspiracy theories (e.g., that the Federal Bureau of Investigation killed Martin Luther King, Jr.) predicted rejection of climate science as well as other scientific findings. Our results provide empirical support for previous suggestions that conspiratorial thinking contributes to the rejection of science. Acceptance of science, by contrast, was strongly associated with the perception of a consensus among scientists.

And I take exception to this. Just because I don't blindly follow everything that's said doesn't mean i don't believe in science. I'm just skeptical.

And this one here. Looks like they are saying if you are conservative you don't believe in science. And if you are conspiracy theorist you don't believe in science either.
Dafuq?

But, over all, the trends were clear. The more people believed in free-market ideology, the less they believed in climate science; the more they accepted science in general, the more they accepted the conclusions of climate science; and the more likely they were to be conspiracy theorists, the less likely they were to believe in climate science.

Agreed. The general trend, though, is that people are believing in theories once they've made a habit of believing in them. One theory makes sense to them, then they believe in the rest because those theories are from the same person or organisation.

We shouldn't be believing in theories just becuase we've made a habit of believing in theories. Personally, while I oppose vaccines, GMOs and nuclear power, I think global warming was created by humans. One should analyse the evidence individually to come to a conclusion.

Science is one huge mind control OP with a stealth agenda.

"Science" is no longer Science...

It has become a Religion.

Science and education are nothing but MASSIVE forms of mind control...

"...the Illuminati eventually controlled the science departments in all colleges and institutions of higher learning. The plan was to stifle scientific knowledge and then twist what was left to fit the science they wanted the people to believe. They accomplished this by adopting new rules in regards to scientific research.

With the control of science in their hands, and the discouragement of seeking new findings they took it a step further. Next, the Robber Baron flunkies of the Illuminati used their ill-gotten gains, under the guise of philanthropy, to establish “Foundations” and “Societies” such as the National Geographical Society and the

Smithsonian Institute “for the increase and diffusion of knowledge among men,” but in reality to help cover-up and hide away anything that doesn’t fit the accepted theories."

Secret Societies - Who Controls Knowledge?

Has Science become a Religion?

With respect to its great contributions to society, I think it is important to make a case that science is really affecting society more like a religion now than a field of study or a resource base of useful information. Many everyday people do not understand it at all and accept ALL its teachings on faith.

Unfortunately some scientists and academic professionals are not so noble and have perpetrated deliberate frauds and cover-ups of important discoveries.

Modern Scientific beliefs are based upon a leap of faith in the big bang theory. It has become a belief system based on faith and therefore another form of religion. Scientists, like priests can explain their beliefs but the everyday people accept it all on faith. Scientists and doctors are the priests of this new religion, getting angry and crying "heresy" when anyone respectfully disagrees with them.

Science - The Illuminati Religion and Mind Control Tool for the Masses

"The model of human prehistory built-up by scholars over the past two centuries is sadly and completely wrong, and a deliberate tool of disinformation and mind control. ...they demonstrate a systematic destruction of proofs that show another reality than that the official story. Falsifications and even destruction of such proofs has been common for more than two hundred years." LINK

They Cast No Shadows by Brian Desborough

"Throughout recorded history, the Illuminati has successfully withheld from humankind major aspects of history and science in order to subjugate the masses"

"Historical, religious and political truths have been withheld from the general public in order to perpetuate armed conflict," he continues. "Similarly if the presently suppressed technology were to be made commercially available, disease, famine and environmental pollution virtually would become eradicated."

By manipulating the souls evolving on earth, the Illuminati have deliberately suppressed the spiritual facts of life, not to mention liberating technologies, which could bring plenitude to all.

Excellent response. The only thing I would add is the rather horrifying, but effect, effort to make "the scientific method" the only manner of proof that exists for anything at all. In the face of things that test the limits of understanding, science devotee's shout, "prove it," and because we all can't afford to spend 10 million dollars on a double blind study we're defeated by the power of "take that!"

It is remarkable how much the "prove it" weapon is used to demonstrate the ignorance of the zealot who finds safety in that religious commandment. These folks have often destroyed the entire half of their brain that seeks to know the world beyond the textbook, in favor of the safety of, "it's been proven..."

Buzz words: "prove it." "no study have ever shown..." "that's not proof." "anecdotal isn't proof" "everyone knows" and one of my favorites, the area when they quote a religious god, "... (Einstein) said..." which also brings about the answer to the false god "Tesla has been proven wrong..."

Wow, that is way overblown. It is not like that.

Yes, discoveries are suppressed. But most of the time it's not nearly that sexy. It's corporate interests, good ol' greed, or maybe just maybe there is some background organization but rarely is the answer C. Sometimes the discoveries are just to detrimental. Say what you want but if the Russians or Chinese get their hands on some high tech discoveries made you think they will just sit on it? It's a balancing act, will our enemies use this new invention to try to kill us? Sometimes the answer is yes. And that's how a lot of technology advanced throughout our history. It sucks but that's how it is.

What happened to science is the same thing that happened to politics. It drifted to the periphery and no one paid attention as long as they "did their job". Joe Plumber just forget to "fact check" the experts. You don't ask the dishwasher at IHOP for stock advice so you shouldn't listen to a geologist about the climate, you go to a climatologist.

Illuminati jeez, they've become the fall guy for everything.

Perhaps they ARE the fall guy for everything...
