That's interesting... 3 days held up over..what law I wonder? Anyone have any idea what would have kept aid from Staten Island for so long? I'm not familiar with laws up there enough to even guess. I thought laws which would cost aid days were largely waived during times of wide spread disaster or crisis?

Good one for Israel Flying Aid though. Reading the story, it looks like a solid group and surely their aid is badly needed by all that get some!

thats great, but why not give the aid to the palestinians? I also think it was very nice for other countries not to impose a blockade to prevent israel from giving aide to those in need.

because Americans don't strap them selves with bombs and kill Israelis like the palestinians do with their own children...its also nice to see them working off some of the tab for all that aid they have gotten over the years

and good luck pulling off a successful naval block aid of the united states dont think its happened since the revolutionary war or war of 1812 if at all

but im sure if one were imposed we would just bring them to the land route that would let items in through official channels funny how the Palestinians dont seem to be able to get it send the stuff by land that is allowed into the country and it gets there...try to run a blockaded you can get your butt beaten for shooting at commandos or attacking armed men with pipes

ill start caring about the Palestinians when Jordan and Syria offer to give them a country of their own until their own kind stops using them as pawns i wont give a hoot

and to further clarify they had the option of having their own state they and other ahrab nations attacked them and i can understand with how the first deal fell apart the idf wont give them another chance to try to drive them into the sea if they can stop it

dont get me wrong, i think it is awesome how after receiving billions of dollars in u.s. aide, israel is kind enough to send thousands of dollars in aide. I agree with you that the u.s. does not strap bombs to children. we strap em to remote controlled planes, and target children.

yep except that our drones are currently within the conventions of warfare and don't involve children flying them (yet).war is not fair it is not clean and it shouldnt be otherwise it would happen alot more.

i personally long for the old days of the Greeks choosing a champion to fight the other army's champion and then that settles the fight no looting no raping no pillaging just their strongest against ours thats the only way i see war ever being close to fair.

sadly how war works is the strong wins and the weak looses and sadly that usually includes some collateral damage

and agin(not directed at you perse) but they had their chance to co-exist and they decided to declare war and lost.

imho this was nothing more than a pr stunt from israel, to make them look like good caring humanitarians. yes i agree with your point about the palestinians having had the chance to co-exist with israel, i also think about the native americans having a chance to co-exist with white america and we see how well that worked out. maybe israel can let them build casinos and pretend everything is all right.

you bring up the native Americans and only blame Americans when the french British and Spanish killed as many if not more then we did.

You might have a point about a P.R. stunt.....IF this was an Israeli Government sponsored Organization. It's not.

Israeli Flying Aid (IFA) is a non – for – profit, non governmental aid organization which provides life saving aid to people affected by natural and man made disasters in developing countries worldwide. IFA provides assistance to all who are in need by distribution of relief items, medical assistance and any other life saving methods.

As someone else noted, they have a well earned reputation for being among the best in the world at what they do. They happen to be Israelis and it's based in Israel....but it's a Non-Government group. They don't do this for P.R. stunts..it's what they do full time for a living. It's generally in the 3rd world, but everyone sees Sandy was something just a bit beyond the normal for our needing help.

I didn't even call Iran's offer a P.R. stunt. Not for this one. We probably should have taken it too, looking at that 300,000 gallon fuel spill. Iran has expertise with that. Oh Well... If Bloomers wouldn't let the Guard in without a fight, there is no way under the sun he'd let Iran in to help, even if they had the last help available.

more on topic thanks to wabbit 2000 i did not know that the unit sent was not a state sponsored trip and that they are a private company and yes id bet that if the generators they have didnt come from china that they could have come from he Germans they like giving the Israelis free stuff. it is nice to see that some of the world remembers how many times we have shown up to give aid over the years.

I suppose this (and all other organisations) are also going to help Haiti, that has lost 70% of it's crops because of Sandy.

Uh...thanks, Israel, for all that aid that is coming from...uh...the US.

And the website article also says this:

[ex"Israel Flying Aid, in having Israelis on the ground here in New York and New Jersey, have [sic] made Israel the only foreign nation to provide humanitarian assistance to the US during this disaster./ex]

Are they sure no other foreign nationals have helped out? Seems like a rather haughty claim to make.

And the article says to send all donations be sent to "P.E.F. Israel Endowment Funds," which has NYC address. I google this name and ONLY find this same article. Try googling "Israel Fying Aid" too (with the quotes) and see how many links pop up -- exactly one, the same one.

This all doesn't really pass the smell test.

That said, I also attempted a google search of "foreign aid for Hurricane Sandy" and didn't find any pertinent or germane links that mentioned any specific aid/help given by other countries other than the offer of aid from Iran that was turned down.

There you're completely wrong, chum. The use of aerial drones is not currently within the conventions of war. The US conducts secondary attacks against first responders to drone attacks as well as attacking funerals of victims of drone attacks. The US condemns militant organizations that conduct these types of attacks as terrorism, so it's terrorism for the US to do so as well.

In addition, please point me to one article that reports a child suicide bomber. There have certainly been some teenage ones, but I know of none where they have been younger than 17 or 18.

Moreover, not every Palestinian is a terrorist, your blanket statement to the contrary notwithstanding, so your excuse for Israel not giving aid to the Palestinians is specious. Moreover, Israel stops other aid from getting to the Occupied territories and has held back tax revenue due to them that Israel has collected. But we digress from what this thread is supposed to be about...
