Let us not forget that Clinton is largely to blame for the economic mess we are currently in. It was during the Clinton administration that Glass-Steagall was dismantled, allowing investment banks to merge with depositor banks which led to the current era of "too big to fail". Then there was the Community Reinvestment Act, which was rewritten by Clinton and used to strong arm lenders like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae into making subprime mortgage loans. This led to the housing bubble, which greatly aided the illusion of a strong economy under Clinton, but which eventually popped under Bush's watch. Clinton was also aided greatly by the dot-com bubble, which also burst. The Clinton years of the 90's were great, but it was all a house of cards, and we're paying for that now.

Of course Bush came along and spent trillions on two wars then bailed out all his bankster buddies when the "too big to fail" thing failed and the housing market crashed. And Obama has further exasperated the problem with more bail outs and more war. So the end result of the two party system is absolute economic ruin.

If you still believe in the false left-right paradigm, you're a fool. Both sides are owned and operated by the same special interests. Regardless of who wins, we all lose.

Clinton didn't force the bank to falsify information on derivatives did he? This is what really caused the housing bubble.

He does hold the pen that made the current banking fiasco possible, under his watch the rules were relaxed.
but that is a misdirection, the president from JFK onwards has been nothing but a puppet on strings.
he doesn't/Isn't making the decisions, all he does is supply the face that was voted in to office to make us believe that all the bull# that goes on, is by our choice, we ASKED for him to do it.
Like i said, bull#.

Bill Clinton Is Right: The Economy Really Does Do Better Under Democrats

Clinton pointed out that under Democratic presidents since 1961, the economy has added 42 million private-sector jobs, while under Republicans it has added just 24 million. He used the same concept to argue that President Obama has outscored both congressional Republicans and his GOP presidential opponent, Mitt Romney, in terms of creating jobs. Clinton has some intriguing facts on his side. Aside from a rounding error, his historical numbers are accurate (figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the tally under Democrats since 1961 rounds to 41 million, not 42 million). I crunched the numbers a few different ways to see if Clinton was cherry-picking the best numbers. His figures measure job gains from the month a president took office until the month he left. Since it takes a year or so for any president's policies to go into effect, I also measured job gains from one year after each president took office till one year after he left. Here's the score by that measure: Democrats: 38 million new jobs, Republicans, 27 million.

No wonder the GOP hates fact checking. It shows how much they fail at their jobs small wonder why they always scream Reagan created 16 million jobs.

My gosh, if you believe that I have land in florida I will sell you cheap.

Jimmy Carter was the worst President until Clinton took office. Unemployment was so high, gasoline was rationed, the country was in economic shambles during the Carter Administration. Ronald Reagan fixed it all.
Go read some history and quit taking the word of a habitual womanizer and liar that was IMPEACHED by the US Congress. NO ONE in their right mind trusts BILL CLINTON, not even today.

I see you failed at history also Carter created 10 million jobs for one term and the OPEC oil embargo is what caused gas to be rationed. Reagan fixed nothing the national debt went up 186% while he was in office not to mention he raised taxes 16 times on the poor and middle class while giving tax breaks to the wealthy. He is also responsible dismantling of the American infrastructure in a effort to destroy unions. And let's not forget all of the farmers that also went under while he was in office. Personal bankruptcies went up 610% under him. And let's not forget his support of terrorist and selling weapons to Iran I'm sure even you have heard of the Iran contra affair. Only two types of people think Reagan did a good job in office the people who directly benefited from it (the wealthy) and fools who know nothing of his voodoo economics (people like you).

Why don't you phrase that in a way that better conveys a true statement. You are making more sheeple and we have quite enough already.
Democrats take what republicans create and milk it dry, then after they play their little games and screw it all up, they lose power and the republicans come in again and fix it............then the process repeats itself.

Behind every successful democrat president is a republican house and senate.....ask Bill Clinton.
Behind every unsuccessful republican president is a democrat house and senate... ask Bush
Behind every unsuccessful democrat president is a democrat house and senate.......ask Carter

No my friend, The economy only does better under a democrat president until he has had time and opportunity to undue the repairs made. Sadly people have short memories and when the democrats are given enough time, people forget what they have done and vote them in again.....only to relearn the lesson and vote republican.

Carter caused HUGE damage to Americans......and got tossed on his rear end. Reagan Fixed it and got re-elected. America prospered. Kids do not know the lesson their parents learned, and get to be voting age and need to learn it for themselves....sad but true

The democratic and republican parties are just the liaison between us, the people, and the OWNERS of the country. Both parties work for the SAME cabal of rich elites. The two party dynamic is presented to give the illusion of democracy but there is none, we have little or no representation. Take any issue. 80 percent of the people, both conservative and liberal leaning, are against illegal immigration. There is broad support for doing something meaningful about it. Yet, BOTH parties do nothing. That's because cheap illegal labor is necessary, to keep wages down and devalue current wages by the owners of the country. No matter who we elect, we may get a few token concessions, but the owners agenda is ALWAYS furthered. Thats why no matter who is in the the majority, the country continues the same downward slide (for us) and things get better for those on the very top. So they might give the impression that one party is better for us than the other, but in the background, its business as usual for the ruling class.

Bush cut EVERYBODY'S taxes...not just rich people. Every single person's income tax percentage went down. Obama wants the Bush tax cuts to end. That will raise all of our taxes, even those of us at the bottom of the spectrum.

No actually, it was Clinton's fault for using the Lewinsky bs as a foil against the bombing by Al-Kaida of our embassys, what was it, Africa? 1998 Embassy Bombings. 1998 Lewinsky.

Thats not really good enough anymore. I want to SEE that democrats are for everybody else. If they truly are, why did Bill Clinton push through NAFTA, and repeal Glass Steagal? Why do they support a lot of the same agenda the republicans do that are pro corporate and anti worker? I really dont buy that democrats are for the working class as much as they claim to be. I think they are for anyone who makes over 200K a year. The rest of us are expendable. And I get the distinct impression that they run not so much on a platform, as that they are the clear lesser of the two evils (which they are). Yes things are probably slightly better for working people under democrats, but not enough. Not as much as we should expect. I would like to see a new democratic party funded by the grass roots to run against the corporate compromised democratic party we have now.

Over half of Senate Democrats voted to stop NAFTA

75% of Republicans voted NAFTA up

A large Majority of Democrats tried to end NDDA

The Vast Majority of Republicans voted to retain NDDA

Just some quick examples

Actually, I don't consider Obama to be a true democrat. There is a Pie they taught in the past decades in political science and all I can do is describe Canada, and the party placements in those days. A huge Circle with a line through it. The Bottom was Totalitairanism, Communism on One Side and Fascism on the Other.

The Liberal was slightly right of center by the world wide standard. Not middle. And certainly not Left. The NDP was slightly left of center. I am far more socialistic than the NDP. Give me complete equality and abundance for all without forcing anyone, and families are very important work. We all co-own all the resource, and we all have a right to our own homestead. I don't believe in borders, they're formed by wars, but my History Teacher told me I was an internationalist. Except I also believe in sovereign infinite rights with no unlawful, control laws.

Then you have the far right, which was always extremely close to the fascist line.

As for businesses They tend to vote conservative and prop those governments up, stands to reason they would somehow go lean and mean when people don't vote for their candidates, for they're not a nice group of people overall. I do recall when the conservatives got in they created one huge project after another, spent millions and millions or more, and then folded them, right when the banks raised the interest and added a fortune to the deficit, in order I believe to increase the deficit and try to blame social programs.

Linda McQuaig more or less covered this:

www.basicincome.com...
Shooting the Hippo.

You're not under Democrats, or even Conservatives, I think the US is under fascists, and they are all Right Winged ones.

Otherwise you would have free medical, education and low costs of living like Norway, that is what True Social Democracy is and their businesses are world top notch, and the people have the highest standards of living in the world, for after tax's with housing and necessities controlled, they have more money in their pocket to spend in the community. So more local businesses and crafters do well.

It takes more people having more money, to create spending in your community.

That is the best system in the world.

If you watched or listened to the speech, Clinton did tell us what the Republicans do to the debt. They make it bigger. They give tax breaks and no cuts and somehow expect that will make a balanced budget. Hogwash. They cut taxes for the rich, and stick it to the rest of us. Those on here who seem to be defending the Republican budgets must be rich, because no working person with any knowledge would vote for a party that wants to tax the middle class and give the money to the rich.

Obama can't clear the debt all at once, after all, Bush took 8 years to double it, but Obama at least has a plan to start reducing the debt. Unfortunately for rich Republicans, his plan no only includes cuts but also raising taxes on the rich back to the same rate as in the Clinton years. Romney just wants to give tax cuts to the rich and somehow that will do it. No details, just tax cuts to the rich.

Obamacare won't bankrupt the country. The Tea Party guy who said, "Keep the government's hands off my Medicare," said it best. The most efficient and well liked medical insurance we have is Medicare, a government program. Obamacare is just a step getting us to Medicare for all. Without universal coverage we are at an economic disadvantage with the rest of the developed world as they already have universal coverage.

It is funny. I work with a bunch of brain dead middle class guys who think GOP is looking out for them. I think they think they are Wealthy republicans when in fact they all make

Obama wants the price of gas to be high in order to create an environment where

Americans will run out and buy an electric car that has to be recharged everyday.
