The Talking Tree And Me [APWC]

Alone I walked, deep in the forest
where I could forget I was the poorest.
There was no sun, nor moon to join,
and soothe my pains of lack of coin.

For days I wandered, lost within,
attempting to purge this envy sin.
Through the greenest, yet the darkest day,
it was here I searched the way.

When I was about to depart,
I heard a voice that stopped my heart.
"Who are you, why are you here?"
I heard this clear through all my fear.

"It is me." I answered back
"Just a man with too much lack."
I turned around and what did I see?
The voice was coming from a tree.

"A being with nothing is what you say,
but have you not the strength of day?
The hours of the night can make things right.
You are alive. You have your life."

This is what the the tree did speak,
and it stirred something deep in me.
I turned again and saw my path.
Never again did I look back.

Many years have now past,
Is the tree still there? Did it last?
It changed my luck, my point of few.
What can the speaking tree say to you?

You pierce a special place within my heart with your prose, and doubly so by talking with trees.

Once again, your words are too kind. Nothing makes a writer happier than to know that their words have touch the readers.

I really like the topic of this writing contest. It leaves many avenues for creativity and imagination. Being able to give life and voices to things that don't normally get the chance to speak is one of my favorite forms of writing.

I have a feeling that there are going to be many fantastic stories to read this month. I'm off to catch up with the latest offerings.

I know I'll make a few entries this month. There's plenty of room for the imagination to flow.....
