But you see, if I join you and another joins us, and another, and another, and another. . . . . we'd have to have some sort of "government" and then we'd be back to the same arguement.

I would rather one guy to deal with than the hundreds of 'representatives' that dont really represent anything. I think our governments are just pretend. They exist to make us feel we have no power.

A Dictator cant pass the buck. They cannot blame congress. cannot blame red tape. There are no excuses. The dictator is responsible.

kinda like when they went to a controlled tyre in motogp. All of the sudden the riders could not blame tyres. they were responsible. That is what we will get with a dictator. Someone to blame. Its not good enough for Obama to just blame congress for getting nothing passed. Dictatorship removes excuses.

All this debate is good in hypothetical debate however saying we need a dictator in the US is beyond ignorant. We were never designed to live under a dictatorship and our form of government worked just fine until it was infiltrated by special interest corporate ideals.

What will fix our nation is to elect representatives into office who take their service to the people of America serious and serve the people instead of campaign donors and special interests. As Madison warned in the Federalist Papers, political factions are to be avoided in government. Therefore the 2 major political parties must be dissolved in order to prevent stagnation.

We basically have a dictator in office as it is now and things sure haven't gotten any better. Obama is acting as if he is a dictator by trying to force the house and senate to pass certain bills, trying to intimidate the USSC on how to rule on certain cases (healthcare), and creating numerous new bureaucracies to do his will.

No we don't need a dictator, we need to kick the corrupt elitist bastards in DC out and replace them with people that will represent the people of this nation, not corporate interests.

I find that comment to be very rude. straight off the bat too.

I find it beyond ignorant for a Nation to be so fanatical about their old amended constitution. They actually tried to bring up some distraction in Australia recently about changing our constitution. Most people here dont even know we have a constitution. Plus it is so old its out of date and obsolete. Australians were more annoyed about the obvious distraction and the waste of taxpayer money it would be to change the dusty old thing.
The rest of the world finds your unhealthy obsession with your beloved constitution to be quite bizarre. Whats even more bizarre is when you deduce that only a fraction of Americans have even read the constitution, and even less of you understand it.

Things change.

It will just take a couple amendments hey. Dictatorship is an amendment to be
You guys make amendments. Just make some more. Im sure we can even convince those guys that wear Patriot Costumes. Those guys are not happy with government at all. Im sure they would be open to some amendments.

A Dictator can get things done.

That is the problem. This 'get things done' attitude. I do not want to get things done that aren't aligned with my own interests. That was the point of a democracy, where getting things done meant decentralizing power to each individual to get things done for him/herself.

A dictator does not, cannot, and will not possess the knowledge required of him to satisfy all needs of his subjects. There is an inherent uncertainty within a system that claims to be complete or consistent, like central plans, which is what a dictatorship requires.

My advice: 1. conform to nature and realize the person with the most knowledge of this person is the person observing from the frame-of-reference of the person in question, 2. Get rid of the centralized planning mentality, which is usually what macroeconomics reduces to, and obtain the microeconomical viewpoint based on game theory statistical methodology and not statistical methodology that assumes complete or consistent knowledge of the system it's analyzing. There is no system. There are systems.

I also object to the idea that Hitler somehow contributed positively to his country's economy. The economy was almost nonexistent and in utter poverty before he took over. It's easy to tell people who are starving and dying that they can rely on the hand that feeds them-- until they realize this 'hand' feeding them is infact poisoning the food.

I disagree with what you are saying. But you are very wrong in relation to Germany preWW2. It would be a good idea to look into it because you are very wrong, like I said. There is alot to attack Hitler on without making stuff up. The poison food stuff is just silly.

Oh okay, well now I understand your lack of understanding concerning what the constitution means to us, you aren't American......that explains alot. Do you not understand that our constitution is the document that was written to limit government power and insure individual freedoms?

The problem with our government isn't our constitution, its the fact that our government no longer adheres to the document that limits their power and stipulates what the role of government is. As far as what the rest of the world thinks, well they sure don't min using our money, military, and aid.

I'm sorry you are offended over the word ignorant, perhaps you should look up the definition then you will see it is not an insult, it means lack of knowledge on a subject. You obviously don't have true knowledge of what our system of government is designed to be since you would think despotism is better than restoring America to its founding principles.

Perhaps since you're an Aussie you should extend more energy into trying to fix your nations problems instead of focusing on America. Australia has more than its fair share of problems to deal with.

Personally,, since the religions of the world are so messed up,, and it would be hard to find someone of Benevolence to "Get the Job done" ,,,

if I had to choose,,,

I could live with 2 years of the Dali Lama as Dictator,,,

at least he has a Humanist streak that would shine through and would do something about China.

but over all,, it is not a good idea,,,

Even with Jesus,,, he is going to cart a good portion of the population off to Hell,,, so doesn't look promising for the majority of us to have it this way.

A federation is what I think we need.
A federation of Countries,, geared towards the Whole,,,,
but again,,, humans being as they are,,
I can see the need for someone to have ultimate 'Buck Stops Here" power..
but Only if it is Limited,,, NO CHANGING ONCE IN POWER to 2 to 4 years. That is long enough to test this out.

Thats a silly thing to say. i can tell you that I know more about your history than most Americans. Like I said, most of you have not read the constitution, less of you understand it.

And what problems does Australia have? AAA Credit Rating ( higher than yours) low unemployment, resources boom, our dollar is worth more than the US dollar and we were just named the happiest OECD nation. What problems do we have again?
www.abovetopsecret.com...

You guys were not even second. Australia rules.

Edit- and it is rude to claim someone has a lack of knowledge. What did you think I thought it meant?

Edit- and if your military would [SNIP] off and leave the pacific and stop risking our relations with China I would be very happy. Your government affects me. So no, my focus is on target.

I am American,,
the evidence that this has worked is not in your favor anymore

Limited Government ,,

Are we living in the same Time?

I wish it were so,, but the Constitution is shot down,,,

we need to go back a document to the Declaration of Independence were it says we have the Right to Overthrow any government that hinders our pursuits of Liberty and Happiness,,, much less Freedom.

We no longer can Wait for the SLOW WHEELS OF JUSTICE to roll around to MORE FREEDOM,,, NOT LESS like we actually have today

Have you seen a Drone today????
Scary stuff our Government is playing against us.

If dictators are so good then why doesn't' Nazi Germany or the Roman Empire still exist? They were defeated and trampled underfoot and now only exist as history.

Do you propose a dictatorship for Australia? Or just the USA?

So if a dictator can cut through red tape to get things done, and his personal interests determine what things get done, and power corrupts, what REAL roadblock would a 2 year review be to a dictator seizing power indefinitely? In his mind would this not be more 'red tape' that it is his god given DUTY to cut through so that he can shepherd the people for the rest of his life (which with the advancement of technology could be forever)? All it would take would be getting the military behind him to support his coup. Of course even if he could live forever it is almost certain that eventually someone, like one of the generals who helped him gain power in the first place, would assassinate him and take power for themselves

This is the fundamental problem with having a permanent system of "temporary" dictators. The system will eventually break down because power is a drug. The lust for power would effect both the dictator and those who would be necessary for a dictator's coup. The dictator will yearn for his absolute power to continue indefinitely and those directly below him might covet that power and seek to take it for themselves. It doesn't matter if you try to select those who are just and good and can resist the urge. Over a long enough timeline you WILL get bad apples in the seat of absolute, yet temporary, power. They will seek to extend their rule.

You say that we need temporary dictators. That could work in a Republic, but a permanent system of temporary dictators is asking for trouble. You could try having two of them to balance their power. You could have senate controls on them that keep them in line. Oh wait, am I describing the consuls?

Well, they went to Emporers in Rome. The dictatorship was a thing of the Republic. It worked. julius Caesar didnt step down though. And nobody wanted him to. He was succeded by Gaius who ruled for a long time. Everyone kind of forgot the Republic and how things were. The new Romans only really knew life under an Emporer. So it just went on. And Rome wasnt exactly defeated.

And Hitler got way ahead of himself. He lost the war.

That doesnt really hurt the idea of dictatorships. It has nothing to do with them

And there have been many.
en.wikipedia.org...

Its a dangeous line of work. You could easily end up like Gaddafi. The Imperial Empire does not like Dictaorships.

Who proved this. Its like all hate yourselves. Like you all have no faith in humanity. You really should all just kill yourselves if that is how you all feel. How do you all look in the mirror? Are you all not ashamed to be human if you all have such a low opinion of yourselves? It must be depressing.

I think most people are good. I have faith in humanity. I think we can do better. I do not hate myself. I am not a defeatist that is too scared to try.

Fail!

What are you? 15?

They are two dictators that were able to achieve alot and they both were loved by their people. This is not what people think of when they hear the word Dictator.

Your argument is pretty bad. You are like people that say Communism doesnt work because look at Russia. There is no logic in it. If we all had that attitude we would still be living in caves.

And who destroyed Rome?
