So about two hours ago(surprised was not on ATS) a decent sized earthquake struck the state of Wyoming. Could this be a sign of Volcanic activity to come from Yellowstone? Pretty scary, as I live in Colorado. I hope this means nothing, but we should at the very least keep an eye out! Just wanted to make folks aware and please be safe everyone

Sorry you live in Colorado and are scared about Yellowstone.....I live in PA and I am scared of Yellowstone!! It doesn't matter where you live if the super volcano erupted, we would all be wiped clean off the map, you just might not realize it until it's too late, where as I might see it coming and still not be able to do anything about it.....

I hope and pray nothing is happening at Yellowstone!! Keep us posted if possible.

Crossing fingers that it doesn't blow
Thanks for the update and hopefully no other stronger earthquakes follow.

yea really, that is one area where we definitely do NOT want a lot of activity occuring. does anyone know if 8km is deep for a quake?

4.8 on my grandchildren! I made sure they had instructions for quakes, so, they'll be fine.

Gotta go phone. Thank you OP.

It is not really deep for a quake. Usually, the shallower the more damage is done to structures. Fortunately not many big buildings in Wyoming, just a huge deadly Super Volcano

I live in northern Colorado and I'm not scared in the least. I'm more worried about the drive home from work tonight. If Yellowstone goes, then it goes. Nothing I can do to stop it, and I'm certainly not going to get an ulcer worrying about something that may never happen in my lifetime.
