I took to heart the instructions for this contest, especially the ones that said:

"No upper or lower word count limits

Any writing form acceptable "

So I present you to this poem.

Small Fire, Immense Sky

The dusk slowly curtsied
and acquiesced to princess night
with her shifting winds, assisted my vision
and bore the veil of gray and silver onward,
revealing a mosaic in the heavens,
luminescent pinpricks
to strip my soul naked
allowing it to bask in the glow
of transient lunar light,
casting my thoughts and images
to swirl upwards like campfire sparks,
into the universal wilderness
chasing Orion on his quest,
leaving me stranded, terrestrial bound
on the forest floor,
realizing my journey has just begun,
yet never ends,
and since I've chosen my trail,
already, I've learned so much, and so little
next to small fires under immense skies.

I'm not really into Freestyle Poetry.. Feel it lacks any creativity, might as well call it a really short story. But great job though, even though, in all honesty, you lost me a couple times throughout the short poem.

Thanks anyway, freestyle isn't to everyone's liking. Sonnets aren't to my liking. I appreciate the fact that you read it.

This piece is a real soul journey for me.

A personal spiritual tour, feeling your energy rise up towards the stars for the briefest moment only realizing your earth bound quest is still not finished, yet at any given moment you can momentarily soar with wings and light to view and feel the mother to our mother, Earth and Universe.

I love this Tom, Thank You

Love and harmony

This is a beautiful poem and I especiallly love the line

"casting my thoughts and images to swirl upwards like campfire sparks"

as it reminds me of a certain experience I had in the past. Despite being YWC opposition this definitely deserves a SnF

You are welcome Flyersfan. This isn't my best piece of work, but it fit the theme well.
