Most excellent response and point...Many people believe they can pick up on the tenor and tone of the message being conveyed by the writer, failing to examine the use of punctuation...Punctuation is most definitely ignored by many persons today...

Thanks guys. I'm really starting to recognize the sarcasm now! It hurts a little though.

does sarcasm keep us a touch in the negative ? do we have a blind spot toward this because we think sarcasm is supposed to make us laugh and therefore is positive ? no ?

Are you being sarcastic ?

I'm getting confused here. Will someone just tell me who's the real slim shady ?

Reading some of these replies, makes it quite clear to me that most people can't differentiate between someone being sarcastic and someone being sardonic.

Still, I wouldn't have expected anything else from the average ATS member (!)

Who cares? It's all in fun!

Sar.cast.ic = Throwing, casting or hurling out a sarcastic reply or remark.

Sar.don.ic = The "don" crime boss judging between what's considered sarcastic or sardonic.

I have to admit, this thread actually made me laugh out loud today! Thanks!
