"The homeless have overran us," Davis said. "They're taking stuff that is donated to us. They've been caught trying to sell it a few blocks away. We're running out of supplies. We really need what the homeless are taking."

Excuse me, but isn't that the exact same thing these occupy protestors are trying to do to the Major Corporation? What happened to fair distribution? They have something the homeless want, so why can't they have it? Sure, they didn't earn it. They didn't spent the time on the streets protesting, chanting slogans and holding signs. The homeless didn't put in the effort to earn their fair share of Occupy's bounty, but so what. How is that different from the occupiers demanding and trying to take the bounty from these companies which they didn't earn?

And don't give me that junk that the homeless are wrong because they're violent about it; the occupy people are just one flint strike away from igniting themselves. What they are doing is no different than what the protestors are trying to do; and that is, take something they didn't earn.

Some protesters said there have been some thefts and in some cases violence, and they're worried that their message will also be stolen. "We're not (((just))) a homeless camp," said Michael Davis, one of the original Occupy protesters. He said a new fight has emerged and is getting out of control.................... Davis said sometimes in their meetings, the occupiers are outnumbered by homeless people. He said some have contributed to and even joined the occupation, but others aren't so helpful. "We had a homeless gentleman get violently aggressive.((( He pulled a knife))) on one of the other occupiers here," Davis said. Davis said the group is considering some kind of reorganization to get back to its grassroots. "We're going to have to deal with that," Davis said. "We'll sit down, and come up with ideas, and vote on it and see how we feel about a resolution." News 5 did ask the Homeless Coalition about the problems at Piatt Park. The station was told it boils down to simple personality conflicts. Read more: www.wlwt.com...

Oh and in answer to your question. The OWS are trying to make things better for ALL of us. Not just themselves whereas the corporations are in it for THEMSELVES.

Okay, well looks like I'll be giving you the said junk. The protesters are not VIOLENT and aren't robbing or stealing anything. They aren't breaking any laws for one. Secondly, the occupy (insert here) movement is about getting American's their money BACK. We've been screwed by these corporations, banks, and Wall Street for decades. It's only because of the public that any of these are still standing ... not the government, but because of the people's taxes. If anyone's been asking for handouts it's these major corporations, banks, and Wall Street.

the occupy people are just one flint strike away from igniting themselves.

no matter how many times you guys try to plant the notion that they want communist style wealth redistribution, they do not want communist style wealth redistribution. While some elements, specifically the communist, marxist, and socialist protestors, might be calling for ridiculous things, they do not speak for the majority.

Feel free to browse that link to see what has all these hippy anti-american communist fascist socialist leftist liberal lazy art students' panties in a knot. Or not if your intention is to merely go to the link and post a reply with your same lame half argument without actually reading the thread. And hey, i made it simple for you, it's mostly pictures.

Don't forget that your tax dollars (if you indeed pay taxes) are not immune to being handed to the banks while they get away with fraud, it all goes into the same crooked pool. Don't you think everyone should shoulder the burden equally? Have they actually convinced you that you are in the 1%?

What Started OWS and why are they upset?

Last time I checked, they weren't protesting against people making money. They were protesting against people using dirty tactics and screwing over the bulk of the country in order to make said money.

You know, things like holding money in offshore accounts so it can't be taxed, offshoring left and right, laying people off while the executives get millions in bonuses and the company made a profit, forcing one person to do the job of four, forcing overtime without pay with the threat of being fired if the person doesn't comply, treating the stock market like a gambling casino.

To sum it up: they're against stealing, lying, cheating, and manipulation...exactly what these homeless people seem to be doing.

If this is true then explain why they are not burning down the white house? That is the source of the infestation of greed and corruption. The corporations made their money based on the corrupt rules. Go and get the rules changed. Not go after the corrupts money. That sounds like a robin hood fantasy. Not a solution to a problem. Just a way to get out of debt or get free "corrupt" money (which spends the same as "good" money).

Just saying.

If they really want to make things better for ALL of us, then they wouldn't mind sharing whatever they have with the homeless, right? Even the "fake homeless", like I saw discussed on another thread. They are part of the ALL.

If we don't want to share with ALL, then how do we judge who is more worthy of sharing with?

They are making the point that Marxism (Socialism, Communism, etc., whichever of these you are promoting) does not work. There will ALWAYS be someone who isn't willing to work as hard as you are. If the "99%" aren't willing to share with those who aren't doing the kind of work THEY deem useful, then why should anyone else???

THEY are judging WHO is "contributing". Only those who THEY judge to be a contributor can partake in the donated food.

Regardless of the crimes committed by any bankers, or excesses they might be guilty of, it's always easy to judge those who have more than you, and deem that they have enough...in YOUR opinion.

Yes, it is hypocracy. I can't understand how everyone doesn't see that.

I did read the whole thing, and I still don't see the difference. You can't tell me that those occupy people would take by force, by knife point, the money of the corporation and keep it for themselves. Isn't that the whole idea?

And I love when people say that. That all these corporations are about is profits. Do you know how ignorant that is? Think about this, take all those corporations that everyone hates, Sony, Apple, Cisco, P&G, GM, Dow, Wal-Mart, Pfizer, so on and so forth, take all those companies and take away the products and the services they provide and what do you have left? A society in collapse. A society left stumbling over itself like a blind man without a cane. Suddenly we're back in the stone age. Why? Because you people can only think is terms of dollars and have no concept of the advances to society that these corporation have given to mankind because your too spoiled by the luxuries of life.

Exactly.

We need to find people willing to go to Washington who will change the system. That is the only way to make a difference.

The corporations have a fiduciary duty to make a profit. That is the way the system is set up. They will do whatever they can to make a profit for their shareholders, and their compensation is based on how well they do that.

Be angry at the government. They are the ones who have taken taxpayers' money to "bail out" these businesses that made bad business decisions.

The anger is real, but I believe it is completely misdirected.

This weekend at the OWS in STL many left stating it wasnt "exciting" enough for a protest.
I was actually happy to see them leave. When the weak shuffle off to xbox and moms basement the hard core will be left.. and the different groups will come to an agreement and focus or disband and dissolve. THATS what Im waiting for.. to see what pans out in the end.
Observing/communicating without holding a sign gives you a unique perspective... so does speaking to everyone from the white resistance to the racial harmony groups to the young communists to the constitutionalists.. and everyone in between there does too.
WHen you segregate into little factions and groups... you lose it. There is common ground to be had between the communist and the constitutionalist. If you think our own revolution was compromised only of those who agreed with eachother even 80% youre mistaken. It was compromised of those who could meet and work toward the common ground belief and left personal differences in ideology at the side to be worked later. They fought like cats and dogs crafting this country between themselves( adams did not agree with Jefferson, nor did Franklin agree with Paine 100% or anywhere near it!) but there was a common goal that was the glue and made them powerful and resolute regardless of the differences. Revisionist history has made idiots of us all but there is no excuse now with the internet to educate yourself on how this works.. if you care enough for your country and your future. OWs has a chance. It needs to educate itself, grow, find common ground, become forceful. It is our duty as Americans to protect our country from inside forces as well as outside. There is a fox in the henhouse. If federal law and constitutional law actually were followed, there would be a great housecleaning in our govt.

I am not happy with OWS. I have a chance to be happy with it when it mutates into what is coming next. I just hope it mutates into what I want when it gets hard and cold.. and the weak leave. There is a place for the weak, but they need to find it. The parasites will be dealt with in time. There is a VAST difference between homeless or poor and a parasite. Parasites arent any more American than my red bellied toad.

When Im speaking to them.. young and old... and they find who I am and what I have been doing for the last 25 years as well as my husband they at first are uneasy.. some of them. Others walk away or say something ignorant. Others listen. There are a lot of us. No cohesion really.. much like the OWS itself. Just waiting to see what pans out. Im no one special nor are the others, we just know whats up a bit more because we have been up to our necks in it for decades.
I personally am fearful this whole thing has been completely compromised and the amount of truly uneducated young and old are the majority. Uneducated in the truth. Maybe they are just heavy sleepers and it will take a bang to wake them up. I figure they will wake up or run.. either thing suits me. OWS can dissolve and become a footnote. I hope not.. but I will wait and see.

I understand and agree with much of the dislike of OWS by posters here. I understand it because since day one I have found out for myself rather than armchairing this one and relying on info to be digested for me and spit back to me. This one has potential IMO. We have to be patient with the sleepy ones and the young ones and the misguided ones. They are our own. I refuse to HATE any fellow American that is troubled by things even if they are going in the wrong direction or are vague about why they are upset... and the majority are. Im older.. these are my children as well as yours regardless of age of the person. They are children in the sense that they are newly awakened to the state of our country and the dire urgency our future is in. They are finally realizing they have been betrayed and are mad as hell or fearful... sometimes they are not sure who has done thing as they have not seen it as long as we have here. Guide them... not with my or your opinion, but by fact. Allow them to process the information and come to their own conclusions. I have great faith in my fellow American and humanity. From the many will come the few. I hope I will live to see that day.

Hypocrisy? Yep. Sometimes thats the way it goes. Sometimes thats the only way it can go initially. All things change, OP. Lets wait and see what direction in which this grows or devolves before we condemn the potential. You want to see hypocrisy and silliness end? Work toward it yourself if this is important enough to you. Go to a protest armed. Armed with a bazillion print outs and a lot of coffee. SHOW them whats up with references they can look for themselves. WHen you see it, there is only one conclusion to come to and who the enemy at the gates really is . No shouting with a bullhorn will accomplish what knowledge will. Give them the proper weapon

I want to first thank you for your time and effort in writing this intelligent and well thought out response. Much of what you say does resonate with me, and even though I've never been to the protest, I do understand both sides. However my tendencies are to side with common sense, and to me, that means attacking the right source. Which in this case, that source is Washington, not Wall Street.

I work for a living, 40 plus hours a week in a decent paying job which puts food on my table and home for me to go to. I pay my taxes, far more than my fair share, and those taxes go to the government. It is that government which misuses the money I give them. They are the ones who hand it over to banks and corporations, and they are the ones who make the laws and loophole which make it possible. These corporations are no better than the people outside their doors screaming for retribution and financial equality. They are no better than those who choose to sit on their front porches and wait for that government check to come in the mail. They take the money because they can; because that is the way the system has been built. Remove the source, remove the government and rebuild that system. But remove the corporation and society will fail.

Going down there with a bullhorn and pamphlets full of all the knowledge in the world will do me no good. These people have already been told what to believe and I'm afraid nothing will change their minds. Sooner or later, when this fad runs out, and it will run out, they will all just move on to the next target they are told to hate, and OWS will just be a passing mention in our nations history. If I'm wrong, which I hope I am for the sake of all those involved, then I fear the only end to this will be a bloody one.

Thank you again.

THEY don't want to give.. they want to take. They want all these programs and all these benefits and entitlements but THEY don't want to pay for it, many not having jobs, many not paying taxes at all .. they want the homeless taken care of for sure, but they want the Middle Class to pay for it. Just like the Middle Class will be paying millions in taxes to cover police costs, repairing the parks, damage to buildings etc from this movement.

They go after Wall Street instead of the White House because Wall Street is one major source of the infestation of corrupt laws. They demand that the system be rigged, and they get it through buying people off, which means that they are ultimately the source.

Alternately, people have been going after politicians for years to no avail. There's just too much money to be had, and both parties are knee-deep in corruption and bribe-taking from the same people. It's simply time to go after their taskmasters.
