Thirteen days, actually. October 25 to November 7.
Between that, and your comparing the two in the first place, I don't think you're very good at history.

ya know, IF it were November, you might have a point.
but, since you are clearly not interested in history at all, let's at least put the facts out there ...

fyi ... NY / Zucotti Park has been occupied since Sept 17th and as of this post, it is Oct 22 ... that's 6wks + a day ... but hey, don't let the facts get in your way

reference -- can provide others if necessary

I would guess many Americans have been "asleep" for some time now, eh?
perhaps after your life has been systematically disrupted for 6 continuous wks with no resolve in sight, you might experience some rage yourself, ya think?

Actually in this case, I do; they're called eyeballs. With these wonders of evolution, I can look at the text you have placed on the internet. Now, the purpose of putting your opinion out there is, of course, to express one's own thoughts and emotions on a given subject. You have done so here. Reading you in context - with my wonderful eyes - I can get a solid feel for your position.

Well, MY eyes ARE getting sort of old now, and I think I must have been issued a cheap pair to begin with at birth, so if you could point out the post where I state that I'm HOPING for violence, I'll see about fixing that. See, noticing which way the wind blows is not the same as HOPING it will blow that way.

I really can't imagine anyone who's ever been shot at HOPING to get shot at some more.

I told my kid that if he got out drinking and ripping his car around, he was most likely going to wrap it around a telephone pole some day. that doesn't mean I'm HOPING for that eventuality - it's just the laws of consequences taking a toll.

Oh goody, another ATSer who knows (or at least, claims to know) history. Sorry to skin your nose, but, yeah, if you wanna enlighten me about your positions, you're going to have to do it here - i'm not interested enough in you to go traipsing all over ATS looking for your rabbity pellets of wisdom.

Here you go - the way I see it, all wrapped up in a single post with a bow on it for you.

So then - just so's I've got my history straight - you're trying to tell me that the Russian Revolution was accomplished from scratch to ownership in 13 days? That doesn't leave much time for organization, planning, or all the other little things that go into making a revolution, like whipping up the anger. I reckon the Russians must be Masters of Revolution. Most other places, like Mozambique, Rhodesia, Nicaragua, Cuba, Vietnam, etc, etc, it took years, just for the protesting and fighting phase of the overthrows.

If the Russians can do all that in just 13 days, I have to ask myself why they aren't running the entire planet by now, nearly a hundred years later.

My bad, you got me. I reckon I used a bad example in picking on Super Revolutionaries.

Want a Cheetoh?

Original or white cheddar?

White cheddar, of course! What sort of Philistine do you think I am?

you have no reason to pity me, try looking in a mirror.

and, i never said "MY" life was interrupted, it isn't ... however, i did ask ... if your life was consistently disturbed and disrupted for 6+ wks, might you experience "rage" ??
it is quite telling that you would avoid answering that direct question.

if your response was "specific", perhaps you should have included that in the verbiage ... my mistake interpreting your lack of clarity but the point still remains.
would you become angry after 6wks of enduring the disruption only to find human waste on your property? (especially when you are one of the 99%)

They don't even know what they are standing up against!! All they do is parrot the loudest voice heard in the crowd with the human megaphone routine. They need to be in DC at the root of all problems.

The hypocrisy within the movement is truly awesome as they pick and choose which gazillionaires to target and which to ignore.

I'm done and the people of NYC have apparently reached their tipping point as well.. Keep on pushing

Stop spreading lies! Most of your posts are generalizations and discrediting. Have you actually done any research? Here for you: The Declaration Of The 99%

This is the declaration of the Occupy Together movement. Stop saying they don't know what they're protesting about. They're protesting against greed, corporations, governments, the 1%...They're protesting against this whole rigged system. And you know it, you just prefer saying they don't know what they're protesting about.

Now read the Declaration and actually get to know what they're protesting against...

Interesting reading, but what has it to do with OWS? I didn't see OWS mentioned anywhere, just an imaginary "99%".

Some of those "demands" are sensible (ex. Term limits to prevent career politicians), some are less than sane (ex. presuming to tell a private citizen who he can and can't work for based solely upon who he has worked for previously), and some are purely suicidal (ex. graduated "progressive" income tax combined with universal health care).

Some are even contradictory. For example, in one place it demands an end to all tax deductions (because they are vehicles to evade taxes), and in another it demands institution of tax deductions (for employers who pay off student loans). Can't have it both ways - it's either/or.

For that list of demands to be adopted, all hell will break loose in the US. Those "non-violent" types will either get violent in a hell of a hurry, or die at a disadvantage.

For myself, if they manage to ram through anything like that, I will simply quit working, quit paying taxes period, and drop out of this society altogether, because it won't be long for this world, and I don't care to sink with it.

The list seems designed for the most part to convert this Republic into a "Peoples Democracy" - that cute euphemism for what were REALLY totalitarian dictatorships that was so in vogue last century.

So you are claiming this list of demands is what OWS stands for? No wonder they're all over the map with their wants.

Question: if, as the document states, it's "non-partisan", why does it link to HuffPo in the upper left corner? It appears that it's a thoroughly partisan document, attempting to veil itself by claiming internally to be "non-partisan", and throwing out just enough bait to bait in unwary conservative types, then slap 'em upside the head with all the socialistic demands.

Nope, I believe that if by some miracle this thing gets rammed through, we'll soon find out where the REAL "99%" stands - and we'll see that none of the "99%"s are really even close to that figure.

Maybe when the dust settles and the smoke clears there will be some kind of majority left standing, but I seriously doubt if even then they'll be able to find a 99% consensus.

American lives have been systematically disrupted for nearly 100 years. Those that understand how the owners of the Fed, Wall Street and D.C. created their fortunes at our expense are definitely experiencing symptoms of rage. As more people become aware of how the "system" operates I imagine the crowds are going to continue to grow at OWS.

You know.. I would like a group of people to pitch tents in your front yard; beat drums all hours of the day and night; pee on your front door and deficate all over your yard. I agree in protesting for what your believe in, however, being respectful of people who actually live in those neighborhoods is important. On a side note. Have you asked these people what their protesting? The majority of them can't even give you a straight answer ,or it's a pre-fab answer that they themselves DIDN'T even think up. Any one living in neighborhoods where these OWS protesters are have the RIGHT to be pissed when they're disrespected.

Yah, i talk to angry New Yorkers everyday... Though they are mostly heading to the protests in support and angry at everything in the system..

Kinda like all of you when the tea party calls.

O

Petition your GOVERNMENT. Leave the rest of the citizens alone and stop infringing on THEIR rights, because when they reach a breaking point where they've finally had enough of these shenannigans, you'll find out just where the "99%" REALLY is.

That's comical the entire gov't is corrupt and tyrannical in nature today, the congress only cares about the lobbyists that can throw millions into their coffers.

THERE IS NO REDRESS OF GRIEVANCES available to the general citizen in the USA today when it comes to federal and even state gov't today, none at all.

That means we have "TYRANNY". Only solution is the 2nd Amendment to clean house.

The paid gov't megaphone shills are really coming out in force, of course many of these members are one person posting as multiple members. LOL.

YOU KNOW THE TYRANTS ARE NOW CRAPPING IN THEIR FANCY PANTS.

We are "The People"....... FEAR US elite tyrants, and know that unless you step down from power you will be removed by any means possible just as the Founding Fathers prescribed.

They need to beautify themselves with more spangles, more diadems and shiney things. All the jewels of Araby, all the disco balls of Manhattan. Glittering and sparkling in the night.

Have YOU asked, or just listened to a few cherry-picked youtube clips?

Go down to liberty park and talk to them yourself. You will get plenty of coherant answers. But hey, don't let the facts inturrupt your little talking points spew session.

No, this is a protest, not a revolution. Be decent and civilized, dont poop or pee on random things. I cant believe this has to be said to adults..

You DO realize that these "incidents" are almost assuredly fabricated by the elite to discredit the OWS protesters and of course their lap dogs, the corporate controlled media are right there to make it seem as if ALL the protesters are disrespectful of others and therefore not worthy of listening to...right?

I suggest both of you speak to someone who lives in the area.. as I have. I have also been to the protests in the STL area myself. Not speaking a someone who is parroting propaganda.

You all need to understand that there is a segment that is giving the whole thing a very bad taste. All are judged by that segment.. and IMO they need to be removed and distanced.

I never said that there aren't "individuals" doing these sorts of things.....BUT they are almost certainly "plants" used to discredit the entire movement. No the OWS at large can't prevent gov't plants from trying to damage the reputation of the movement. The important thing is that thr OWS at large must get the word out about the gov't activities such as this.

They arent individuals. They are groups or factions. Go to a protest. They arent govt plants, they are idiots in groups who are adults you have to tell not to crap on things that arent theirs, call for violence, etc. As I said, I cant believe that adults have to be told where to relieve themselves and not to have sex in the open. The govt didnt even need plants when you have a moron segment.. theyre just real happy about it
OWS will do well when they are more centralized and can make firm decisions about distancing from these GROUPS and have a sort of manifesto
This starting out this way is fine.. but I do hope it evolves. Right now its a complete CF mess. It will only evolve when there is a common goal and common things that are not acceptable that are accepted by the larger core group. Right now the naysayers are perfectly correct.. but there is an opportunity for real power with OWS if they start acting like they can make a change and not just wallow around and hope the moron segment and goofballs like the skin heads get in like with the program. They wont.. useful idiots they are.. but theyll never be the/or in the core of the OWS if the OWS wishes to succeed.

How would you know whether they were plants or not? You couldn't.

Just as individuals could be gov't tools so too could be groups.

Unless of course you know something we don't.
