OWS DOA?

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/files/img/yr4e8c74e3.jpg[/atsimg]

or Simply Misdirected?

I'm embarrassed for this generation. I mostly agree with and support their sentiment [which is great] but their execution however thus far has been something like the way decrepit old people fornicate!

I support the majority of what the movement is trying to achieve in Principle. I really do. I however refuse to call those who are advocating Communism, Union involvement and violently overthrowing the Government with the shredding of the Constitution [simply because a small vocal minority within the movement feels they are entitled to getting a bigger slice of the pie which most of whom haven't gotten off their collective asses and earned] my Comrades!

I know many here by the time I'm finished will not want to hear what I have further to say in replies. So, I'll offer you this option.

Ignore

Know who your real enemies are!

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/files/img/ga4e8c6e27.jpg[/atsimg]

I know many feel they are doing something for change but in reality all they are really doing is wasting time and effort that should be directed elsewhere. The reason why many Americans don't care is because they already know Wall Street is corrupt. These protest become a moot point to them. Not only that, but many hard working Americans [A Majority of that 99%] have investments. That is their choice.

The real problem that many seem to be blissfully ignorant of or simply choose to ignore lies in Washington DC.

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/files/img/yo4e8c6e1a.jpg[/atsimg]
The Federal Reserve...The Greatest Evil Ever Perpetrated Upon the American People!

The Federal Reserve; it is not a U.S. government bank; it is not controlled by Congress; it is a privately owned Central Bank controlled by the elite financiers in their own interest. The Federal Reserve elite controls excessive interest rates, inflation, the printing of paper money, and have taken control of the depression of prosperity in the United States.

The Federal Reserve System is accountable to no one; it has no budget; it is subject to no audit; and no Congressional committee knows of, or can truly supervise, its operations. The Federal Reserve, virtually in total control of the nation's vital monetary system, is accountable to nobody – and this strange situation, if acknowledged at all, is invariably trumpeted as a virtue.
Check out what we as a nation are circulating as money...Promissory Notes.

That is why it's even more distressing to me when a bunch of starry eyed delusional people start agreeing with the tenants of Communism. Unless they are in their late 50s or older those impressionable kids on ATS Asspousing the virtues of Communism here in these threads have no clue what the hell they're talking about. Communism works great on paper as an academic study but in the real REAL world people die and die by the tens of Millions.

Hell, even the closest thing to REAL communism [Red China] gave up the ghost in favor of Capitalism. It only took the butchering of about 30+ million during the cultural revolution. Do we here in the West seriously need to go through all of that? What about the Millions killed by Stalin or Pol Pot? Give it a rest. Open your eyes and read who your bed fellows are and who you're closing ranks with. Unions, Communist and people who are advocating the violent overthrowing of the Republic.

Capitalism vs Corporatism

Occupy Wall Street gets union support

The union representing New York City transit workers has come out in support of Occupy Wall Street protesters demanding U.S. social and economic policy changes.

The protesters, who argue U.S. social and economic policies unfairly favor the rich, secured the backing Thursday of the largest and most influential branch of the Transport Workers Union of America.

Local 100....

I've been rooting for the movement to take on some form of legitimacy but then I see that crap. That's what it is Crap. Check your six. Within the movement here at ATS are small very vocal group of non Americans many of whom are advocating [Revolution and Violence]

didnt have too many problems with that most outstanding op(shameless plug)

but there is only one way to achieve their goals which brings much validity to the statements made in your op.

more power more control which is self defeating which is another reason in my opinion they are so angry they say this country has a free market system it doesnt cant think ever of a time it had maybe in 1913 before the creation of the federal reserve.

that one 1913 dollar $10000 would be worth over $220,000 of todays dollars kick that up to $1 million would be worth over $22 million of todays dollars.

our monetary system and the federal reserve its rules and regulations or what i just deemed government sanctions is what has created this situation.

and now people are upset and rightly so and irrational and when your not thinking straight people take advantage of them and many others will.

same thing happened during the last election cycle the only wisdom i can impart on any reader of ats

never jump on the bandwagon until you see what direction and where its going to end up more often than naught its never a place you would ever want to be.

so mr op i say extremely misdirected anger focused on people instead of government and their politicies that have made it that way.

when it comes to government the saying comes to mind "you cant fix stupid" all people are doing is making it more so.

my 2 cents and nothing on here that say any one of us have to agree with each other and yes indeed the federal reserve has go to go if anyone is seriously about straightening out what has gone terribly wrong in this country.

Special interests are trying to hijack these protests. Since a lot
of people know something is wrong but don't know exactly how
they got there, it's easy to do.

Rather than b*tch and moan about it, why not get out there and
educate them on the FED? There are others out there who are
doing it.

I'm so sick and tired of hearing about how it's just the people that
don't want to work. September saw twice as many jobs lost as
the previous month. Do you get that?

I lost my job a few months ago. The company I was working for
saw that instead of paying me and my co-workers $17/hr, they
could outsource our jobs to the Philippines and pay them $5/hr.
Never mind their English is so poor no one can understand them.

This is only the beginning. This isn't about unions or socialism.
This is about people waking up and standing up for themselves,
their kids, their country. Most people don't know what to do.
But at least OWS is doing something.

Seems to me MSM is picking and choosing their sound bytes
very carefully with this. You ought to consider that.
And then throw away your television.

I agree with many of your points, but is some others that I do not agree, but at the end, I have lost so much faith on my fellow Americans and our political system that I am just sitting in my home waiting to see where the OWS will take us.

I did have a lot of faith on Obama in the beginning and on the Tea party but hell what disappointment they have prove to be.

A group without organization and a trustworthy leadership is bound to go no where.

BTW My husband and I are in the middle class that pay taxes have the good things in life and make more than many put together and our friends falls in the same group, we are not by any means silent majority and we are not silent either, actually we are all for change in this nation, even when we work and are busy paying bills, paying taxes, saving for retirement and enjoying life, we just lost our sense of security in this economy

I agree with a lot of your points, but I am ignorant of the supposed cry to shred the Constitution. Most of what I hear involves upholding the Constitution. IMO the document has been shredded, in part, long ago. I think the problem lies in any society who would stand by and allow the government to create and give the Fed all of the power they have today. Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing.

I also agree that violent revolution is not the answer, but that doesn't mean it will never be the answer. Granted, we are a long way off from needing to revolt, and the first step, if any change is to be had, is educating the population. There is too much disinformation floating around at any given time.

Good thread btw.

More US partisanship... how refreshing.

I actually think you are right about some points and I think your voice matters.
So... will you make your voice heard or is this rant all you contribute?

You oppose those alleged Communists and Anarchists among the protesters?... thats fine, I don't agree with them either.

If you stay at home, ranting on your Computer and miss the chance to make yourself heard... then its your own fault there are only those Communists and Anarchists in the street. (I doubt thats the case but anyways...)

There is this funny thing I read about:
Its about people with different opinions in a society... they call it "Democracy" but it requires your participation.

Interesting but US is actually a Republic where individual states were able to used their people's power to fight back the centralized government when things didnot work for them, now we have a Federal government that has crapped on the Republics with Capitalism while screaming Democracy

Nice thread, Slayer.

I understand your premise and agree to an extent.

I don't think the American people could handle REAL change.
Change has to be extreme and very precise.
A drastic change in this country will turn brother against brother.
It would put this country to it's knees...
The only reason, is simply because we are accustom to convenience living.
Easy, fast, convenient lifestyles!
This will all come to a quick standstill...
I truly believe people don't understand how bad it will get!

Riddle me this:
If the Fed goes down, the country will collapse on itself.
You will see destruction beyond what anyone is prepared for.
And I believe that the "higher ups" are already prepared for this.
Possibly influencing this drastic change from within.
Do you think the people can handle a complete 180?

We think we are....but, I'm not so sure.
We say we want this to end...but will it truly stop?
I highly doubt anyone will actually stop this mess.
Because in every collapse in history, someone made money...

But:
I truly see a collapse actually happening.
Chaos, and panic ensue...perhaps for months.
Then, like it hasn't been planned... another form of gov't swoops in with the solution!
Ahhh...the predictions...

yeah and this country isnt a democracy no matter how much some people want it to be

a democracy is nothing more than mob rule which in itself is tyrannical in nature hence the founders infinite wisdom of creating a constitutional republic where the minority rights are still protected.

when one looks throughout the period of history where mob rule mob mentality rears its ugly head

it have never turned out like roses.

Fantastic summary Slayer and I mirror your conflicted support for their efforts.
No worries man this will turn into a free outdoor concert soon.

On topic, this is kind of like destroying a Hummer dealership or burning down a construction site in the name of the environment. It doesn't really move people to the cause.

During the past two decades, radical environmental and animal rights groups have claimed responsibility for hundreds of crimes and acts of terrorism, including arson, bombings, vandalism and harassment, causing more than $100 million in damage. While some activists have been captured, ecoterror cells - small and loosely affiliated - are extremely difficult to identify and most attacks remain unsolved. Although it has been overshadowed by Islamic terrorist threats since September 11, ecoterrorism remains one of the country's most active terrorist movements.

Yeah sure that's what happens all the time...

So you just cave in?
Is this how you uphold the legacy of your founding fathers?

I'm not a US Citizen so this isn't really my business but seriously, where did all your proud patriots go???
I had already asked myself where they were when the DHS came for their highly valued Constitution with the Patriot-Act...

Land of the free, home of the brave???

Get your # together and stand up for your constitutional rights!!!

Excellent and thought-provoking thread Slayer. S&F

I have mentioned this before on another thread, but I think there has been a lot of confusion about what the main goal of this protest is. Here goes:

(I promise not to promote Ron Paul even tho it's extraordinarily hard lol)

You hit the nail on the head with END THE FED. Whether you are democrat or republican, no-one except the elite and the MSM will dispute the sheer corruption of the Federal Reserve. The root of the problem is in Washington. The protesters seem to be well-intentioned but aren't quite grasping the implications for what they are asking for from Wall-Street.

The country is indeed in need of a HUGE structural change, which will require some extraordinary action. The problem is, the country right now is very divided. (I think more than ever) We have a two party system that refuses to listen to each other on the SOLE reason that the other party agrees/disagrees with what they say. Repubs and dems are at each others throats 24/7. Even when common sense comes in to play, the two parties can't ever agree on ANYTHING. It has gotten to the point of insanity.

Just imagine if everyone got together with one common goal, forget politics. How could anyone be opposed to ending the corrupted Federal Reserve? If we took this little protest and focused on ending the Federal Reserve, this thing would explode!! If we ever expect to have a successful revolution (non-violent, preferably) then all the internal bickering needs to STOP!

Just look at these boards and watch the pure madness. Even on ATS good debates are rare, I know because I've been a part of several myself. It makes me really believe there just might be a "divide and conquer" campaign going on. No-one can seem to agree on anything anymore, including anything involving COMMON SENSE.

ETA: I should prolly add that while we're at it protesting against the FED, we should throw in a movement against the MSM's shady reporting and tactics to promote the agenda.

Neither. They are growing and growing and even the MSM is being forced into noticing them now. It may seem like the OWS crowd had no idea what they were doing. That was Media spin. They really are pretty damn organized.

here, read this article to get an accurate idea of what OWS is really about.

www.cnn.com...

Plus, I have seen today, several mentions on the news, talking about how much it is growing. They are no longer making fun and are realizing this is not just a silly little protest. This is getting huge and it is not going away.

the crowds are HUGE now and it is not slowing.

news.blogs.cnn.com...

this thing is organized, nationwide and finally starting to get the attention they deserve....

DOA? This is thriving with life! Misdirected? Hardly....

www.cnn.com...

People are taking notice. The world is finally taking notice, so, no, it is not DOA and it is not misdirected. Yep, the way things are being done are different than protests in the past....

But the world is looking at a 21st century protest with a 20th century political skew....

Welcome to the 21st century.... This is not stopping.

All of that is the result of the "movement" being taken over by unions, and political organizers... They now have leadership and focus, can be controlled... And are a political movement, compared to the "Tea Party" ... Or the Tea Party of the far-left. Without that focus, control and leadership, the MSM paid little attention to it.... Now they will be the new liberal darlings... For a while, anyway.
