I didn't copy the whole headline or it wouldn't have fit and people wouldn't understand what this thread is about with just the first part...

Here's what happening :

- Congress has not passed any spending bills
- They need to pass them before October 1, the start of the fiscal year
- They know they won't pass them but they are trying to pass a ``continuing resolution``
- The continuing resolution has not passed because republicans want to fund FEMA tornado relief in exchange to cut money for ``green jobs``... of course democrats don't agree because they LOVE their green jobs.
- Congress is going into recess starting tomorrow till early October.

So it's either they pass this continuing resolution (which probably won't pass) or government shut down starting October 1.

Or a big IF... congress could do business next week to pass this and cancel their recess (good luck with that).

The bad news about this is that the government will eventually be up and running again!

And maybe S&P will downgrade America again...

No spending bills.

No money for federal employees. No money for states. No money coming out of the federal government at all basically.

Remember back in August when they all said it would be doom if the US defaulted? Well having no spending bills passed is basically the same thing.

Agreed, great job everyone, but I think it is time we think for ourselves, and start living a real life. Not in a square box provided by some guys in a suit, who already owns all of the things that you are told to make money to buy.

Gracias! Yeah, I mean, the way I see it, money holds no value, especially in reference to life. You can't eat it (shouldn't, at least), cannot drink it, it is one of the dirtiest things ever, and really only causes despair. I wouldn't mind this in the least bit. Good thread, man! This is an interesting development.

What could happen is that people on social security might
not get their checks.Welfare recipients,unemployment,pensions,
military all may not get paid.Then, you will have some really
pissed off people rioting in the streets,martial law,chaos and
the NWO getting into power.

That was my initial thought, and it stayed there. I just didn't want to bring the NWO into the thread so quickly, considering a police state would be put into effect ASAP... Pretty nutso if nobody sees what is happening.

Well since it will go down this way at some point, better do it NOW then wait a few years.

I don't care as long as my husband gets paid cause I need to feed my child. I'm hoping defense is funded for a bit longer.

Oh most people who post here don't care. They think they are those uber-survivalist badarses who will be living some kind of survivorman post-apocalypse fantasy, but truth is they will probably be the first to get looted and shot.

Hello! It is nice to hear that your main focus is your child and your family. I would recommend starting a garden, compost box, begin de-fluoridating your water etc.. That way you do not need to rely on the money factor! Peace and love, and the best of wishes!

Already do that, thanks though. Makes the grocery bill a bit smaller and that always helps. We are mostly vegetarian cause meat costs too damn much.

defence will probably be the last to stop getting payed
so youll be alright for a while, depending on the economy.
money might not be the issue
just be thankful youve got a trained soilder..that could end up being worth more than gold

The idea that it will shut down is an opinion.
The federal Govt has been running on continual resolutions for several years now with no budget approved.
So, why is this any different then the last time, or last year or the year before?

Thought Obama was supposed to correct all these things??

I live in a military town, the likely hood of that happening is slim to none. We'd be on lockdown for a long time.
