www.msnbc.msn.com...

U.S. authorities Tuesday arrested 16 people on charges they were involved in major cyber attacks including attacks on eBay's PayPal website as retribution for dropping WikiLeaks' donation account.

The FBI arrests were made as part of a wide-ranging investigation of the Internet vigilante hacking group Anonymous, both the FBI and Department of Justice said, and followed claims by the group that it broke into Apple servers and launched attacks last year that shut down sites of MasterCard and Visa.

Fourteen arrests were made in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Mexico and Ohio, according to a press release from the Department of Justice. The FBI executed more than 35 search warrants.

Their lawyer said.

Cohen compared the acts allegedly committed by his client and the others to civil disobedience. "The people being arrested are not being accused of acts of violence," Cohen said.

This is gonna piss off Anon, no? I suspect the FBI's & Department of Justice's websites may have some issues in the near future, along with a cyber letter attached to it

Well, no matter what we think, they broke the law and we all know how much the law is followed... or used against us. In any case, you break the law the law will definitely come for you.

The real criminals wear white collars but the law ignores them for the most part

you dont get it. it was the american government telling business whom they can and cant deal with. That is why visa and mastercard revoked business with wikileaks. That is why mastercard and visa are now been taking to the european courts by wikileaks.....
Wikileaks is a business too and has not broken any laws or contracts. Visa, mastercard and the american government have...

The attacks on mastercard and paypal were peaceful in nature. It is the same as doing a sit in by the front door. These where not violent attacks, nothing was damaged nor was the infrastructure that allowed payments to occur damged..
The problem with driving peaceful protests underground is they tend to become less peaceful. These attacks should not have been a criminal act. It is the same as protesting in the street.
Now if they continue to be persecuted for something which should be protected under the constitution, then the attacks will become more severe in nature and maybe next time you will not be able to use your mastercard and visa...
but then I guess if government decides to use finacial companies as wepons of war, them people should not be suprised when these companies get hit...
