the actual accepted response to this is the most racist thing of all.

white people 'allow' shows like BET, cause they feel they are superior and therefore don't need a WET ... which is probably a mixture of the fear of not wanting to offend and arrogance!

there should be nothing wrong with either a BET or a WET, and i should be able to call you a yellow fool and you should be able to call me a brown bastard. it doesn't matter....

the only time it matters is when you discriminate.. i.e. all brown people are beavers.... now, that's offensive and a lie... you can't have that job because you're white... all yellow people smell of pickle... - this is racism, not calling something black or even black people having a blacks only TV show...

maybe we should concentrate on why black people feel the need to have a black only show.... do blacks feel excluded elsewhere?

look up r.a the rugged man,he was a great rapper in the early 90s with jive records,he spit raw and ruthless for the same label who later signed the backstreet boys and britney spears. They wanted him to continue rapping in his hardcore style, but he refused to do it alongside pop stars, kind of an odd message people wouldve gotten dont you think?a boy band and pop star to bring in young fans, then hardcore artist to pollute them..Just my take.. .

though lil wayne sucks (IMO), it all comes down to censorship. lil wayne dosen't cause anybody to commit crimes, nor does anything else that is often blamed. and the fact that it's thrown into a package aimed towards the black community is pointless.

as far as bet goes, it was actually a pretty decent upstart channel years ago. this white boy was all about watching "comic view" back in the day. now the channel is actually pretty "white". it's a carbon copy of mtv sanz the honkeys.

Guess it goes both ways and still comes down to the dollars too...
There is genuine expression/creativity, naturally both dark and light, but the promotion of it draws suspicion at times for me. I can't help but think there are still those in power that are racist. Of course I hope the numbers are dwindling, but I am from Louisiana, and personally, I feel racism is still alive and well, from both sides...unfortunately.

Research that as well black-face is what they called it. Since black people weren't even allowed in tv shows they were represented by white people in black-face compare white chicks to those feature films

Let me get to you before I get to the OP. Um you said there should not be any race specific channels I can agree with that in theory.

But CMT is not virtually what you were saying about WET white entertainment television. I mean come on think about it. Should there be the gay lesbian channel?? there is.

Country Music Television is For Country Music; just because mostly white people listen to and/or watch CMT doesn't make it WET(White Entertainment Television)

I'm not sure about the Gay/Lesbian Channel That isn't related its not Racial Issue.

Not really sure what kind of analogy is that but its not related at all

To the Topic at hand.

Quit whining you no nothings.

American Indian month is November
Hispanic Heritage is September
Womens History is March
Asian American Pacific Islanders is May

I can go on do some more research before you assume your garbage.
To most African Americans BET sucks and is a shell of its former self, the reason BET even existed because MTV and other networks refused to play songs, music, and shows with more diversity. Eventually they did but of course by then the network was already in full swing. BET sucks and receives criticism from the Afircan American community all the time

I see no whining here! I won't say what I really want to but I will say this.

Pull any American aside and ask them, if they can name any month that observes a specific nationality. I guarantee you, that you'll have a very tough time finding anyone, that knows any, besides black history month.

Blacks having their Own Dedicated T.V Channel in my Eyes is Racists.

Example: Let the KKK Or whites (WET(White Entertainment Television)) Dedicated to them

Do you realise the hypocritical aspect of this.?

maybe we should concentrate on why black people feel the need to have a black only show.... do blacks feel excluded elsewhere?

What need? There are plenty of Black people that are famous and on several TV, Movie, Music, Etc.

Why do they need a Black Specific Channel

Its outright Racists.

Its the same thing as the KKK (IMO(In My Opinion))

well, it depends on the what and how doesn't it... if it's black people in black pointy hats, dancing round a black burning cross and plotting to hurt poor grandma, then sure.... we need to curb that sh#t.

but if it's black people getting together to make music, what harm does it do? surely it's pure insecurity on anyone elses part to suggest otherwise?

Example: Let the KKK Or whites (WET(White Entertainment Television)) Dedicated to them

of course! but if it's white people making white only music... so what? who actually cares?

well no, it isn't cause the KKK want to hurt people and the BET are trying to entertain people.

as i say above, who actually gives a #??? are you jealous that black people are allowed a BET? why not make make a white/whatever one 'if' you're really that bothered...

again tho, if them making a BET makes you so motivated to make a WET, at that point, i think you have to question why you care even more... the pure driving emotion behind it will probably be jealousy or insecurity ...which is your problem, not the BETs!

same with the BET being started in the first place... white people have made black people feel inferior for a good few hundred years, which is probably closer to the truth of why they feel they need a BET.

p.s love your avatar, luke is my facebook pic atm

That's not the fault of the African American. We surely didn't pick the coldest shortest month of the year. You can pull an American aside on any given day and ask about Paul Revere as well and not many know the real story. Or ask them how many planets are in the solar system for that matter. Or any smarter than a 5th grader question.

In time there are events you just shouldn't forget, one shouldn't forget slavery or the contributions to the American economy. JP Morgan and Chase, Wachovia (now Wells Fargo),Lehman Brothers, big tobacco. Pacific railroad All these corporate giants that ruined us today and we bailed out were built upon the backs of slavery for a couple hundred years. No need to get into inventors and such

So what you got to give up a month, one month, one of the coldest, shortest months of the year to remember their contributions to America. It should be a non-issue being that every month, every day, every hour, for couple hundred years our forefathers, (and yes I can say our forefathers cause being my ancestors were raped i have your blood too) got free labor and built an empire.

We've gone def dumb and blind as time goes on. Its built this way, this is exactly how they want us.

Nowadays its all about making club music though, most of my favorite artists dont get mainstream recognition because they rap about the truth.Things that go on in everyday life.Mainstream artists like lil wayne have found ways to sort of "pimp the system" by incorporating love songs and club hits with their fantasy land rap about womanizing and robbery, its a pretty effective method for exposing all people to these fantasy personas of drug lords and killers...Its mainstream music that rots the mind, only way you can find great music is to GO UNDERGROUND.

All I can say is I do not think my wife would let me watch a channel called the WET channel unless she watched it first (you have to admit it sounds a bit pornographic).

As for BET I have watched it before, back in the day for the rap videos. Today I do not really watch any TV only small amounts with my wife or SpongeBob with my son ( I do like SpongeBob). I am white.

As for the month thing well I will say that month is promoted more than say Native American month or even women's history month. In fact you never hear of them mentioned at all. The only month you ever hear mentioned is black history month. Fine let there be a month but promote them all equally or ditch the idea all together.

Most of this nation could give a crap about history any way. All most care about is the cool stuff they have or what new reality TV show is on or what sports team won. Most today are just morons in general that appear to be shallow and narcissistic.

BET – Black Entertainment Network; I see the market for it in the inner cities where the larger density of the black population resides. I can see how it is a viable choice for a Cable Network’s programming roster as the targeted programming would be worth the advertiser’s money since they primarily sell black specific products.

However, I do not understand why any cable company would add this to its roster of limited slots in a market, say like the one in which I live with less than 1% of any ethnicity but white. Why is this channel as a basic cable choice here? Why not something with a bigger viewer share?

It carries an almost zero share of the viewing market in our area but still despite me and others continual requesting of alternate and more popular and successful programming for our area it remains on the basic service in lieu of something else.

I suspect it is basically a form of welfare for the small niche market that probably could not support itself absent making markets that otherwise would not carry it pay the fees regardless.

Imagine if RFD was on the basic roster in Detroit or DC? It’s not even logical – it wouldn’t appeal to very many folks. Certainly not enough to justify what the company has to pay for access fees, how many wrangler jeans and cowboy boots would they sell? Better yet the horse wormer, fencing and farm supplies?

I have a theory why – without MTV mandating markets that carry their very successful and profitable programming also subsidize the less profitable niche programming of BET that left to its own advertising and access money would not likely be chosen for most rosters. It is welfare basically.

There is the money reason for ya – now onto the social engineering reason that the openly political MTV owners shove down America’s throat at every opportunity.

Being white is evil and to be proud of being white is simply racist while embracing and adopting any other alternative culture is good and the pursuit of the educated and reasonable folks.

then what would?? do you actaul need the moniker of WET for it to be White entertainment television. Even as you said mostly white people watch said channel. I mean thats looking at demographics.

it is like saying 70% of the audience for BET is black then maybe 15% is white and then maybe the other 15% is made up of others. Mostly black people watch BET but it is not an all black viewership though.

ANd I mentiong the gay lesbian channel again for demographics sake I had thought you were orignally saying that no group should have there own channel .

I agree with you whole heartedly.

You should never forget your heritage...ever. I wish I knew mine but I don't. What I disagree with is slavery and the unjust, brought up all the time, when I had NO hand in it, nor would I ever! Sure, it should be taught in schools so history never repeats itself, but for it to be brought up in every day life, I don't see the point. Once we leave the horrible past in the past, then we can grow united as a people, as one, unopposed.

There were a few talented artists making real statements in the earliest days of rap, hip hop, gangsta and other music forms favored by youthful Americans.

They were soon followed by some authentic and some poseur wanna-be street hoodlum lowlifes that played the role of a musician. Too many showed no respect for themselves, their neighborhoods, their lady friends etcetera. Easily swayed young people saw the excess lifestyles, the many forms of abuse and the lack of respect for human life as something to be copied. Very sad and pathetic how it mislead young people.

Music company executives that want more than they need could care less about the negative impact this packaged persona has made on society. Music itself suffered terribly. It takes a lot more than being pissed-off street to be a musician. That someone who cannot read or write music or play an instrument and cannot vocally hit or hold a note is allowed into a recording studio backed by a cash-fat label is an insult to the many real & talented musicians who work long and hard to be heard.

On the plus side, most of the riff-raff was just flash in the pan that came and went very quickly. The real talent, the real musicians, they last and linger on. They are the real thing. The cream always rises to the top.

As long as there are angry youth who want to set the world on fire there will be some fat crooked record company cashing in on it. If a few more children could grow to live past the age of 20 to perhaps become good parents, they could take the time to explain to their children of the manipulation in media and entertainment. On the big picture, it looks like corporate greed does damage wherever it exists.

If you dont like something....dont watch it. There are asian channels, spanish channels, arab channels....it is what it is. Once upon a time one could tune into BET if they wanted to watch a historic documentary or see some cool jazz videos. The channel exists because at the time of its creation, there was a need for black people to find things to watch that focused on topics they were interested in. How the F**k is that racist? If there was a White Entertainment Channel I wouldnt give a sh**, just like I dont care if there is a parade celebrating white pride or a person who chooses to embrace pride in their heritage. thats their business. Personally I dont feel as though I need to take pride in something I had no control over. It wasnt up to me that I was born black...I just was. I am not over here conspiring via a tv channel....which now sucks by the way....about how to take whitey down. Anyone who thinks that blacks having something for themselves or targeted towards their demographic should, as another poster mentioned...ask why there was a need for such things at the time of inception and are they still necessary. Slavery was a long time ago but its not gone....not by a longshot....and just like back then....blacks are not the only ones enslaved. THAT is what we as citizens should be getting to the bottom of. The sophistication of modern slavery and how its mostly mental....not quibbling over who has what and why its not fair or raaaaaaaaacist. How bout we ALL stop crying victim and talk things out like adults. You know....the very thing the PTB DONT WANT. People willing to think for themselves and take a closer look at that which is targeted at them and why.
