Where is Mastablaster and where are our threads?

with the increased traffic and hacker scum lately i would guess that's it's probably a software error. or perhaps your friends were banned. i do not know the answer to this but i wouldn't fret too much. is HS fixing to shut us down? probably not, i haven't seen to much sensitive material that hasn't already been released being disseminated here. besides it would be in HS best interest to allow us to post and monitor anyone that they consider a security risk and pick them up without anyone being the wiser for it.

No, DHS security is not shutting this place down. This site is not a threat to security.

There appears to be an odd coincidence, nothing more. This latest bit of downtime seems to be related to a software error on the primary machine our ISP uses to host ATS (and a few other sites).

I spoke with tech specialists three times today, and the problem was related to the Control Panel application that manages the account settings for the sites on the server. The Cpanel app on Unix servers controls several important attributes of the server, including connections to the mySQL database. It appears as though some recent posts and members were lost during the recovery process. From what I can gather, we lost a total of about 19 threads and perhaps 10 members, but it's hard to know for sure.

I'm sure they'll turn up again when they return an re-register.

Sorry for the problems. But all seems to be well once again.

William, before this all happened, you indicated that there was something to the newbies stories of having thier old board at yahoo covertly dismantled... anything new on that?

mySQL on a Unix platform??? no way... what kind of Oracle Database is this site connected to/with? and who the heck is H.S.? I dont know, but yesterday and this morning i couldnt even reach this site, it kept saying bandwith exceeded or something and i thought this site got shut down.....why would anyone shut this site down anyway? HAHA , and in my computer programming class, my professor told me there IS no centralized control over the 'net........ just what they WANT you to think.......what a joke

HS...they are referring to the Department of Homeland Security. Posted by Thomas Crowne

Has anyone from DHS contacted any mods/admin of this site? Or possible the ISP or server node?

Has anyone checked the logs to see if anyone might be looking at any particular thread/posters?

Odd Coincedence?????

You call it a coincidence when ...

1 Our site goes down
2 We move here
3 Our main guy masterBlaster disappears
4 THIS site goes down
5 Our threads are deleted
6 My posts are deleted

If you think this is a coincidence then your head must be up your a$$!!

Something is seriously wrong on this site and I can feel a wind of change coming ... and the stink will blow us all away.

Hey Kingpin...

Just chill a bit dude.

I'm sure your friends were freaked out by today's technical issues so soon after they arrived, knowing what they feel they went through.

I'm sure they'll be back. After all, the site just came back online on Friday evening (ETS). Perhaps they actually have a life.

Hydrogen sulphide? No, Homeland Security -I'm sure.
And apart from that, all that appears certain at the moment is our uncertainty.
Contrary to the pronouncements of theworthy professor quoted above: there most certainly is widespread net control (if the will exists). China is notorious for it (search Berkman Report).
I'm still sure that we are simply seeing an unfortunate avalanche of explainable software mishaps; but some of what is happening does remind me of examples of net control I've come acroos here: "vanished" information; claims of "bandwidth excess" and the like.

I agree with KingPin, there's too many things going on here, to be just a coincidence. I think not only is ATS being watched, they are watching KingPin and his group. I don't know what kind of information you guys have found, but you need to share it before you disappear.

you know, i find it odd that before, William was saying that there was something to there story and was acting worried like the rest of us, now all this stuff happens and he does what looks like a complete turn around, i too am worried

I've worked for an internet based company. That company was hosting many websites, and this kind of problem is " normal ". Keep at mind that we are dealing with computers and softwares who are ran by humans.
See what I mean ?

So don't be so paranoid. If H.S or another agency was trying to shut down ATS, it would be done since a long time !

Take a look at Liquid Web and not to H.S, and you'll find the true.

P.S for the H.S guys : Good jobs guys.

All I can say is if it was in fact a software glitch, it was extremely selective....

Publicity may be the best and only defence...

Hi People...

Sorry for the confusion. I hope I can clear things up:

1) Yes. I feel there was merit to some of the claims put forth by our Yahoo refugees. It does indeed appear as though they had a Group on Yahoo that suddenly disappeared.

2) It is possible the Group was removed due to illegal activity. This may also explain the sudden disappearnce of their leader who is an admitted hacker. (Putting 2 and 2 together, we get...)

3) Many threads and users were missing when the forum came back up. I was working with our ISP at the time, and knew the exact moment the site returned... both the "member totals" and the "thread totals" numbers were less than before the server crashed. When a database connection crashes, very often the active data may be lost. I'm sure other experts will chime in, but this means that if a server crashes during an open session with a database record, it is possible to corrupt that record. It is very likely this is the case, all open records at the time of the crash were lost or corrupted.

4) Bob88 (as an admin) can view the activity log of the Administration Panel for ATS. He assures me there are no "deletethread" activities leading up to, or immediately after the forum crash.

I hope this helps. I know this is a stressful time, and odd things are indeed happening. The best way to deal with such stress is to remember these two simple ideas:
1- Most things aren't nearly as bad as you think
2- Somethings are worse than you can imagine

We can all reduce our stress by remembering #1. And since we haven't yet imagined #2, there's no point in worrying.

Now... I return you to your regularly scheduled mayhem...

Actually, in the past 3 weeks, I've gotten the "Bandwidth Exceeded" message about 3 times (including yesterday). Yes, it is a coincidence...
Relax....

William, you know there's something going with this Yahoo group, don't try to blow it off.

kingpin there could be a simple way of testing this theory. Maybe if you post whatever it was that got deleted from the nwo forum up again, and we'll see whether it gets deleted again and the board goes down.
