I don't know why people always mention Tupac, He promoted everything from violence, sex, drugs and showing off. Killuminati was BS, Why try and defeat them when he was spreading the same message and doing all their dirty work for them? Same goes for prodigy who's cursing the Illuminati now.

Eminems now trying to go against them, Lets see how long it will last.

Yup, and so did the 60's rock artists.

A lot do it for money, few do it for the message. Please don't discriminate based on Genre, i thought for a long time rap and hip hop was in all ways bad and creatively horrible, but i definitely learned i was wrong.

I'll agree a bit about Tupac, he was a flawed human person like the rest of us. He died being involved in gang feuds.

Though why persons constantly look to hip hop for answers they've already got themselves is a bit beyond me. Rappers and hip hop artists are just as capable as anyone else of finding a belief or concept such as the NWO and believing in it. I don't believe it means they are in any privy position, or have any other information that the rest of us don't have.

I'm yet to really see a hip hop song deliver a strong message any more than Rage Against the Machine or System of a Down who are at least a little more opaque about it.

No, they are trying to sell records, you will find they have little to do with context in videos and just jumping on Tupacs killuminati selling ploy.
Controversy creates cash.
I doubt any rapper could tell you what half of the subject matter means or what it relates to, Tupac at least had a genuine interest in politics to some degree (to make it work for him) and the underground elite and was a fan of the book The Prince by Machiavelli (hence his alternate name Makaveli), it was still all just a marketing trick in the end.
I do wish people would stop giving these pointless clueless music artists so much credit, they can barely spell their own names.

The other forms of Hip Hop are also trying to 'enlighten' us while those under the guise of 'Hip Hop' are propelling misguidance thus tarnishing its reputation and spawning misinformed opinions

Hip Hop is great way to address political matters (when you have the feeling for it) though it's unfortunate most people don't know this due to being indoctrinated with a false understanding of Hip Hop thanks to tracks like "do da stanky legg"

Take a look at this guy. Underground.

Yes some artists are trying to enlighten us. It goes 2 ways. Dont ever think just because the mainstream is on the spot light and is what is being fed to us, that's all there is. No. There also people working against that. In all sectors of society.

The song is called 'Last Dayz', the artist - iLL Mega

This is the hook/chorus

'Were heading for destruction kid
were in the last dayz, waiting on the mother ship
these politicians steady trippin on some other sh!t
but theyre just puppets of corrupted covenants
under a shadow government'

This track is a good example of what youre saying. Its just that of cos no ones heard about this dood unless youre in the circles of Hip Hop. But people are too lazy, they think that all reality is like a restaurant where you have to be served.

Go out and find out yourself before condeming the whole genre.
I do that. Just the other day I found out about 'The Flying Burrito Brothers', 'Gram Parsons' and 'Hank Williams'. All country and western. I had never heard of em before as im not into that music and im not from the US. But I love all music and wanted to find out some of the good stuff of that particular music and im finding, cos im serving my self.

Some of these artists don't care about the money such as Jedi Mind Trick/Vinnie Paz (Jedi mind tricks member), Lowkey, Logic, Mr.J.Medieros...etc. Jedi mind trick turned down 5 major record deals if I'm not wrong and selling records doesn't matter to them they've been doing records since the early 90's.

Here's a really good one by Portuguese/American rapper Mr.J.Medieros. The respect I have for this man is incredible, Very down to earth and money doesn't seem to motivate him. His newest album 'saudade' release had to be funded by his fans, He required 5,000 dollars for the manufacture and raised 3,000 on the first day. No doubt this man does it for the fans. EVERYONE READING THIS THREAD LISTEN TO HIS MUSIC!!!!!!!!

If you’re assuming that mankind has a right to survive
Find an alternative to war before that man goes blind
With that eye for an eye talk tooth for a tooth talk
We’d all need seeing eyes dogs
And our food from a juice straw
Misusing the truth for an instrument of violence
Is like the innocent admiring the rule of a tyrant
Its fuel for a fire sent into the womb
Giving birth to the very child you meant to consume
The commune we create by meeting hate with hate
Demoralizes us humans so we can’t relate
We’re segregated in our communities
By our economical placement
But agape doesn’t recognize value it creates it
We’re born in a state where we constantly abandon
The principles of love for a complement to stand on
It’s like we in trouble and paying double for ransom
Just know that through the struggle
You got a cosmic companion
And a confidence that can’t run
From comments or handguns
When you bombing a mans home
And affecting his plans none
It reflects on his grandson the respect that that man won
Loving with no retreat
Turning cheeks when the hands come
Holding the meek for ransom
Like you care what their worth
Know the people you cant stand might inherit the earth
And this evil just cant handle when we sharing the hurt
Baring the cross staring at Who carried it first

Finding true peace is not merely the absence of tension
But the presence of justice in an act of redemption
Internationally mentioned is it locally heard
From the grave of civil rights I see the hopefuls emerge
Bodies broken into words only to grow into a statement
Never let anyone bring you so low
That you would hate them
In 1968 when that shot rang out
The lyrics “We Shall Overcome”
Is what that crowd sang out
And I believe without a doubt that every word in the song
Can be infinitely heard intently birds sing on
From the cages that bind us the inner rage that blinds us
Covering what’s written on the pages that define us
Is it the day behind us or the one that’s arrived
Making way for a path to survive
Know that love is alive and you can count on this
Ease up slow down revolutionaries bounce to this

No offense to JMT fans, but if you're looking for meaningful music, Vinnie Paz just isn't that great. Trail of Lies is a great song, and I have over 80 JMT songs on my computer, but they say a lot of words that have no meaning (although it's much better than the money and hoes rappers). Immortal Technique is very good, but he hasn't put anything out in a few years, and the 3rd World was the only thing he's had out since 2005 at the least. I used to think "You Never Know" and "Crimes of the Heart" were some of the best songs I'd ever heard. I'm surprised no one on here has mentioned Sweatshop Union. By far the best music group I've listened to, they are so good that I can't listen to any other music anymore (even IT), although Blue Scholars and Common Market are also very good underground artists. Sweatshop Union also has a great song about materialism called Goldrush that I didn't include for those that care.
Sweatshop Union - The Thing About It

Sweatshop Union - So Many People

Sweatshop Union - Staring at the Walls

Blue Scholars - Morning of America

And now for my favourite Mr.J.Medieros songs:

We Are Not The Same

Drove him to school just after the day that he flipped
Told him if any students asked for him
To say that he slipped
So many bruises past to him they faded in quick
They say the fatal wounds
The fact that he don’t play with his kids
And now I pray that he lives
Persuaded he gives into the lie
The bed you made it was his
Just say what it is cus basically the pain that you give
Is the pain that you received and you afraid to relive
And you can blame it on your past tenses
Tame it or have fences
But it don’t change the fact
You cant escape your last sentence
When they have to reference evidence
You broke the surface skin
Laugh but after that they sending him to social servicing Then where would you be at bending at the kneecap
Pretending that he needed that slap
When well you see that
You doing to your son what your father did to you
He put you on the to be
See while the facts bruise I couldn’t figure it out
Why my back was being used for putting cigarettes out
And it aint hard for you to do
the same

We are not the same
The distance in our lives
Bares the innocence I claim
Please know that we are not the same
The instant you arrived
With this infant and my name
Please know that

Met her at school forever he knew
He’d have to tell her the truth
In a letter he drew out every letter as proof
He wouldn’t let her be used
How his treasure of youth bowed and tethered abuse
Better to use now to measure every moment they shared
As a powerful atonement
How broken he bared
Can one hoping to share his life with another be
When you as beaten as the lover in me
Holy seeking for the Brother in three
Uncovered to see me
Before becoming a mother to be
See while the facts bruise I couldn't figure it out
Why my back was being used for putting cigarettes out
And my laugh was subdued for it please him to cry
These are the reasons why for you I would leave it behind
I refuse to do to you what my father did to me
Only I choose who I am I pray to God that you will see the same

We are not the same
The distance in our lives
Bares the innocence I claim
Please know that we are not the same
The instant you arrived
With this infant and my name
Please know that

Before the war of the worlds I draw closer till it’s all over
The All Knowing knocking doors till they all open
I crawl hoping for a moment to stand
Only to fall sober with an omen in hand
I call for Oprah but she won’t understand
What’s going through a mans mind media land minds
They feeding on a mans pride
Bleeding and cant find a tourniquet
This evil got its thorn in my side and keeps turning it
People we were born to survive and be permanent
The sequel is the morning we rise
The Kings returning
To keep us from burning in our own flames
Learning to speak but I’m worried if its long range
Surely the speakers will reassure they want change
Hurry the reaper is burying the whole game hold it
We maintain the same pain but can’t show it
From hand made to brand name gangs to famed poets
Planting seeds and yet they cant sow it
Got me standing in the hands of thieves
Planning a take over
I’m demanding that they break open
They the poison in the lung that shrank
From chain smoking
I blame the choking on the air that we breath
Inhale the atmosphere of careless greed
On an atlas were we share the need
But don’t care to feed the lonely
On our bodies bare the words that read
Somebody please hold me

Ever since the day that I was created
I never thought that I would state
That I wasn’t afraid to die
But today my sight is better then the naked eye
I’m a letter from the editor
Telling ya feathers were made to fly
And forever was made for I
Written within the text of intolerable sin
The blame resides
Together our names collide till the taste of bread and wine
Restore the people to the place they coincide
With the omnipotent glory of God is infinite
The intricate meanings of life define innocence
Divine instruments
Depending on who breathe through it
Designed with a sense of harmony
Arm me with sheet music
The type the meek speak fluent
Till I’m knee deep in ruins
With a seed that keeps blooming from concrete
Pursuing an illuminate kiss
Competing with a lunar eclipse
I’m speaking of the tunes we equip
With a T.V. and a super model
The inherent need to be free
From who we choose to follow
And the tools we use to hollow our existence
I refuse to loose this battle
Choose the power in resistance
In the hour of indifference where the innocent bleed
Inhale the atmosphere of careless greed
On an atlas where we share the need
But don’t care to feed the lonely
On our bodies bare the words that read
Somebody please hold me

The politics of Profanity is bewildering, a baffling illusion that is extremely trivial in the grand scheme of things.

..And yet people can get fined, suspended, and expelled for using profanity...

*Cues Mad World*

It serves as another means to marginalize, divide & patronize amongst ourselves. As if there isn't an abundance of that already...Race, Diction, Gender, Attire, Interests, Financial Gains, Political Viewpoints..PC/Mac?

i think that would be due to reading comprehension, rather than it never being mentioned

i agree with you overall though, groups like jedi mind tricks dont really bring much to the table beyond base skills.
