Whatever, next, State of Emergency,International Intervention

Certainly does remind me not onlyof the poll tax riots but the May day riots also.

Was planned for some time and I started thread yesterday

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Its got all the hallmarks of the riots we saw in the 80s.
Although was planned by the TUC as a family protest-everyone here knows protests can never be exclusive.
Most of the breakaway group are not protesting in consideration of the global unrest, but moreso to draw attention to issues here.
The UK is very quick to take to the streets, and has done so in the 60s 70s 80s and 90s
The difference now is that we are seeing attacks by anti capitalists-because when we suffer because of the mistakes of greedy bankers and big organisations who are evading taxes, then they are an easy target.
As with the student protests last year, those who feel the urge to smash up banks are predominantly the young people, because these are the ones whose futures are threatened by the mass cuts.
With the miners strikes and poll tax riots during the Thatcher years those protesting then were predominantly older classes.
At the end of the day-be it young or old, tory governments in the UK are masters at seeing these demonstrations.
We dont need any uprisings in the middle east nor Europe to encourage Brits to go on the streets in numbers when it is needed.

I am all for protest against this government, but what we see in the pictures is mindless acts of destruction by people who are too cowardly to show their faces plus if you are going to protest make sure you have an alternative solution to what you are protesting about. So far its just yobs day out, sure people are frustrated and frustration can lead to mindless acts but what we need are alternative solutions, not heard any as yet.

Thing is, ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS had long been presented to the leaders. But had they listened or convince the People that it is not workable? Nope. They just tell the masses to STFU and pay to the elites.

And thus, the protests. Again and again, and again till the leaders are willing to compromise on solutions or face economic ruin, even for the elites. Heck! if the queen cares enough, with her wealth, she could have paid off any debts or social expenditures for years to get UK on her feet! But did she? Sadly, nope, the masses can 'eat cake' ( potatoes as the scots had to survived on).......

There seems to be a fair bit of confusion about what happened yesterday, not surprising really considering the chaos and biased media.

As far as I'm aware, there were 3 notable groups out. The Unions, UKUncut and the Black Bloc.

The Unions had their march and it was lovely. A great show of solidarity and a good foundation for making a point. It was organised very closely with the police, the stewards attended police training course and the legal observers were a group called Liberty, who were chosen by the police and haven't been officially involved in a protest for a long long time. So obviously it was cool but a bit lame too, very much family friendly which is good because there were plenty of kids there. ('Save our nursery' among the chants!)

UKUncut seem to be of the opinion that since the man said peaceful protest would be ignored, it was time for some direct action. Their tactics usually involve filling a shop with so many people that business is forced to cease. They come up with topical activities such as reading (library funds have been cut). They are belligerently peaceful, to the point where during one occupation, a pile of chocolate bunnies was knocked over then swiftly tidied up as best as possible.

The black bloc are pretty much Anarchists and that's not some media spin, they have the black and red flags and spray the A symbol all over.. They were generally the ones breaking stuff. They pretty much avoided the Union march and did their own thing, individually and/or collectively. UKUncut actually got angry with them at one point because a shop they were occupying came under attack with paint bombs and the like. 'Stop throwing sh*t' was briefly chanted and that was the end of that.

Both UKUncut and the Black Bloc were reasonably selective with their targets, banks and tax dodging corporations got the brunt of it, as well as a Porsche shop.

I think the first major confrontation was at UKUncuts 'secret target', Fortnum and Masons (A very fancy sweets and jam shop who UKUncut say dodged 10mil tax, media disagrees). Some dudes got on a roof and sprayed some stuff and put up some flags, after a while the Met turned up and surrounded/closed the shop. Then a Santander got smashed in and everyone stampeded torwards Piccadilly shouting KETTLE. The street was locked up for a couple of hours.

Later in the night the Police kettled and evicted everyone from Trafalgar square, it's hard to find out why but it seems like one of the Mets snatch squads tried to arrest someone for some previously done vandalism and the crowd stopped them. The rest is fairly predictable. Although the police were confrontational and a bit heavy handed, I think they weren't as bad as they could have been.

For me and many of the people there, it's not just about the cuts, it's about a messed up system that allows this sort of BS in the first place.

Best signs of the day were 'Let this be a sign!' and one with a picture of Camerons Mrs saying 'Not the only one getting F'ed by Cameron'

Best moment for me was seeing a bunch of riot police retreating from a charging wall of cameras.

Best chant - Whose Streets? OUR STREETS

If any on here have children do you give in to them when they throw a tantrum, what we saw in London is the same thing on a bigger scale, joke protesters.
